  1. Ok so.... a Hunger Games type situation wouldn't exactly be a public execution... Maybe death race... Before I get condemned this was most definately a joke.
  2. @Archy1221 I take an attack on our nation and government more seriously than people protesting in the streets. We as a nation are less safe now than we were before this happened yesterday. We don't know who was in that building, what information was accessed or stolen off congressional desks and computers. I love America, and our Democracy. The violence, loss of life, and destruction of property this summer was terrible. It didn't threaten our nation, our duly elected leaders or the United States Constitution. As a true patriot, and proud American, I can't be silent when this country I love is under attack. While again, the violence this summer was wrong and terrible, American businesses have insurance to protect against loss of property and the federal government has provided aid that while couldn't possibly replace what some individuals lost completely has certainly helped. Yesterday's attacks threated the constitution of the United States of America directly. If that is destroyed, if our democracy is ruined, there is no coming back. Our standing as a beacon of light to the oppressed people of the world would be gone, and the sacrifices made by every American that lived, fought, and died defending our constitution from the Revolutionary War through the armed conflicts going on today would have been made in vain. 243 years ago, the founding fathers laid out a government that has been the envy of the free world ever since. That is what was attacked yesterday. The equivalency you keep presenting is false. If you can't see that you're blind.
  3. And I agree that no politician will check every box. Politicians that become president generally check the core values that define a party. Climate change is not a core value of the left. It is an important (while relatively new) issue, but not a core value. Core values of the left would include, compassion, inclusiveness, and a care for the greater good. With Trump - the Republican party sacrificed all of their core values. Let's talk about some of these. Immigration- Trump hires cheap foreign labor at every one of his properties over giving American's jobs- Industry/ Job Creation- Trump personally manufactures all of his products in foreign countries. - Respecting entrepreneurs and small business- Trump has screwed more contractors out of rightfully owed dollars than perhaps any living person. - Sanctity of Marriage - 3rd wife, paying off pornstars, etc. Pro-life- well I don't want to speculate if/how many abortions he's paid for. - God fearing- yeah, how bout no. - There is no core conservative value except maybe having achieved personal wealth, that was filled by Trump. So while I agree that all politicians have their faults, none have been as lacking as Trump was in filling the core values for a party as Trump. This is why many republicans have said "I didn't leave my party- the party left me."
  4. Hmmm. Certainly, however, the climate change example is a pretty weak illustration. - I'm talking more about core values. - Respecting the sanctity of marriage, pro-life, god fearing values that have defined conservatives for generations. Trump holds none of those.
  5. I hope you are right- every time I turn on Fox, my fear grows that Trump is but a figurehead that will only be replaced.
  6. I can accept that you supported his enabler's policy goals. Conservative policies and politics have a place in American and all democracies. - I think what gets lost is that for most of us who "strongly dislike" Trump it is because we were able to recognize very early on that he was potential a threat to the very fabric of our nation and he had the capacity to erode the very bedrock upon which the United States was built to a point beyond repair. - Not that he had recently adopted a conservative ideology. I think to many people right of center, Trump has become the living embodiment of conservative values, despite espousing none of those values himself. They therefore are unable to separate the man from their values, which leads to the visceral reaction when liberals condemn or question Trump. But Trump is just a man, and a dangerous one at that. The conservative ideology will live on long past him, as it should. We just need to somehow ensure that a single person is no longer able to usurp an ideology for their own personal gains in a way that threatens our democracy ever again.
  7. As much as it pains me to say it . @Archy1221 has been pretty short, aggressive, and to the point when it comes to condemning yesterdays actions. Perhaps instead of criticizing him for his past support we can appreciate that he finally sees the light, when it comes to Trump. - Took him long enough, but he got there.
  8. The hardest thing about the Trump presidency is how to reconcile that people that I know to be otherwise good, upstanding people, people that I'd trust with my life and want in my kid's life, and their support of Trump - who espouses every value these people seem to eschew in their non-political life. My wife and I are very open minded. Our general course of action when educating our kids on how to interact with people who have differing views is to "keep and open mind," "remain civil," and "find common ground." I still struggle after years how to explain to my kids that a close family member is a strong, ardent supporter of that man and how my kids should/ shouldn't react.
  9. Step 5 Pence pardons Trump in order to create more national unity. - Just as they planned.
  10. Open and blantant espionage enabled by the extreme right and conspiracy theorists. Just handing the keys to the country to all of our enemies foreign and domestic and encouraged by the President. I have never been so enraged.
  11. How many of these traitors are also disguised Russian agents who now have access to all computers and files that were left unlocked and open on desks??
  12. I am of the belief that while other teams experience this as well, Nebraska currently and even historically (though back then we were good enough to overcome biased and inconsistent reffing most of the time) seems to be held to a different standard than its opponents by referees. The lack of holding calls against Nebraska opponents across the last 10ish or so years is certainly one obvious, well researched, and data affirmed example of this.
  13. This has the potential to get VERY ugly if protests erupt over this and Trump's loss at the same time......
  14. From Football Outsiders, a deeper look into the data... As I said, most the time when one phase of ST succeeded another phase tanked. SFEI Special Teams Ratings (SFEI) represent the per possession scoring advantage a team's combined special teams units would be expected to have on a neutral field against an average opponent. Unadjusted special teams possession efficiency (SPE) is calculated as a function of special teams game splits. Schedule strength is represented by each team's average per possession special teams opponent adjustment (SOA). Field Goal efficiency (FGE) and Opponent Field Goal efficiency (OFG) are the average values generated per field goal attempt as compared with national success rates in proximity to the end zone. Kickoff Return efficiency (KRE) and Kickoff efficiency (KE) are the average values generated per kickoff based on field position at the conclusion of the play. Punt Return efficiency (PRE) and Punt efficiency (PE) are the average values generated per punt based on the field position of the punt team and the field position at the conclusion of the play. 15. Unfortunately, all the Russian's likely have to do to get access is send an e-mail to Trump himself. Something like, (in my best evil Russian Accent) Donald, Dis is Vlad - click link for next instruction.
  16. Throwing this out there - our special teams have been crap since Callahan. We may have had one year hear and there where one phase of ST was good, like Pierson-El's freshman year, but never all 4 phases. Even during years when one phase had an up side, another phase was bad enough to cancel it out. - I think the post above hit the nail on the head. Most coaches get the offense and defense right, then try to focus on beefing up special teams- since we haven't had a staff that could get the offense and defense right since Solich (Osborne), the special teams have been neglected for 20 years. (ugh that's hard to type). The closest we've come to having good special teams is when Bo took over coordinating them because he felt the O and D were in a good enough place and ST was costing us games.
  17. Might've worked back in the day. In these days, gerrymandering has made house seats safe. And misinformation campaigns like Fox News are now considered legitimate news sources that tell the voter exactly what they want to hear even if its an outright lie. You're looking for accountability. There is none. That is why McConnell, Graham, Cruz and the rest are still in office. The dems did force a vote. They passed a clean $2,000 bill, with no riders. McConnell and the republican Senate refused to bring it to the floor for a vote. Could they have withheld votes on the veto override? Perhaps, but then that would have only strengthened the "Dems hate the military narrative."
  18. Does it matter??? In close games against relatively evenly matched opponents, a refs decision to throw or not throw a flag certainly alters the outcome of the game. It doesn't matter if they are two crappy teams or two great ones. I'd add you also do not have to be a great team to win the BIG West. Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Northwestern are all pretty evenly matched right now- as evidenced by multiple one score games between them. Nebraska would be perceived much more as "having their ducks in a row" if our opponents teams big plays & scoring plays were called back as oftenly as Nebraska's are, or Nebraska's big plays and scoring plays were allowed to stand. Would I feel better about the program with a few extra wins each season - well yea- that means we go bowling, it means the national narrative about the Huskers is altered, recruiting becomes easier, etc. Does that mean I'd ignore the work that needed to be done to continue to improve, nope. We have plenty to do, doesn't mean Frost and the team haven't been screwed out of a handful of wins or more by biased and inconsistent reffing.
  19. They don't have the numbers... no matter what they could have done it wouldn't have passed.
  20. I hope this was said with a bit of More tongue-in-cheek than sarcastic, in response to those on this board who adamantly refuse the possibility that the referees played a role in deciding any game this season or last. It's been an ongoing conversation in gameday threads.
  21. Guys, come on, don't you read the board??? The refs never call one sided games that affect the outcome win, lose, or draw. The timing of those penalties also had no effect on the game whatsoever and it was only the coaching staff's shortcomings that dictated the result of both those games. - Man, can't believe you guys need to keep being told this.
  22. Well if they played us they would be a 10-1 top 15 team amirite??
