  1. You really have an issue with the sun belt apparently. The sun belt has teams capable of challenging the power 5. Troy and application state come to mind. This team beats them. Why is that so hard for you to grasp? Again; we should have beaten them by 20, but your complete dismissal of another football team is absolutely astonishing. Sometimes you have to applaud the other team. Learn from the mistakes and move on. How you can knee jerk to one game, and reastically one side of the ball for one half, is beyond me. Would be great if you doom and gloom folks would wait until mid October to be missable sob's.
  2. The point is: they are a competent program. They win. Should we we have won by 20? Yes. Still think when we got up by 15 we took the foot off the gas. I guess I prefer the positive outlook. They only got 200 yards after halftime. Held the run game in check. A young secondary against a veteran qb. He took advantage of it, in the first half. Much better play overall in the second half. These games happen. Western Michigan had USC on the ropes today. If you just look at the final score, your missing the actual point. Is Western Michigan better than ashy? Maybe. the whole dynamic can shift in a week. Michigan is the darling right now. That Florida offense has been trash for a few years now; long season. Story will be told by mid to late October.
  3. Step off the ledge red. Watch the second half. You'll see.. adjustments defensively. played much better. Arky state has won back to back sun belt championships. These kids aren't chopped liver. We're also a bit green on the corners. Things don't happen overnight. There is a reason the line was 15 and not 25. Defense did enough that we should have been up by 21-28 points before that last drive. Offense stalled out a bit, which was disappointing. Think we smack the ducks around a bit next week.
  4. Some of the folks around here. Geez. Arky State has won the sun belt two years in a row. They aren't some no name mid-major/FCS team. Thought the defense made some decent adjustments in the second half. Think the original game plan has been beat up enough. Was disappointed we didn't put 50 on them offensively. Really thought we missed a moment to step on their throats and put The game away. Oregon played Southern Utah. Drawing anything from that is laughable. Doesn't mean they won't do that to us, but it's a different week. Hope we have see a jump.
  5. It was reported really early that a husker coaching staff member said the money would ruin Gregory. The insinuation I got was big money would make him lazy. Add that concern with the weight issues and he does have a higher than likely chance of being a bust. There is a lot of upside but a lot of risk. I think other people with issues were able to show that they were worth the risk. Gregory didn't. Now if he wants to get paid he will have to work for it. Could be a blessing in disguise. He should be embarrassed by all of this. It's his fault. You can hope he learns and that this does indeed motivate him to get paid. The guy can smoke pot from when he retires until he dies. He can work hard for 10 years, make millions, and live comfortably after that. Kid needs to figure out his priorities. Weed should not be one. Motivation should be not having to work past 35 and getting to hit people for a living. I want the best for him.. Unfortunately the best for him might be to not get drafted today either. My money would be he will, but from top 5 to rd 3 should be a reality check.
  6. I'd like to see the splits in the stats Marvic. On a whole, the stats don't seem significantly worse, but what does like look like in big x play year over year. I'd be surprised if the disparity isn't a little more noticeable. I'd also be curious on 1st half split comparison. Last year we were in games becuase we played solid d and were consistent most times from half to half with scoring. Lately; we score 15 in the first and then 40 in the 2nd. The percentages end up around 35-40 for the game, but we have to speed the game up which results in more possessions and/or foul shots for the other team. I do find the assist rankings a little interesting. Definitely says something about miles system. Not that it's bad (assist to T/O ratio would determine this) but when you don't have a lot of great individual players, you need to share the ball. Requires more than 1-2 people who can shoot.
  7. Leslee isn't the same player after his knee injury. He has no explosion and generally looks slow. I'm actually surprised he played this year.
  8. I've seen plenty of instances where the team has played hard but shoots sub 20%. if we were a rebounding machine or caused a lot of turnovers, I'd be more acceptable to that due to the number of shots. However, we play above to average defense but can't shoot a lick, which results is limited shots. Played the exact same as last year, but we made shots and protected home court. You all can get hung up on a 7 pt a game scorer but your also missing that he was a great on ball defender and could get a quick shot off at any time. Comparing fuller to him? Get real.
  9. Couldn't agree more surrounding the team missing Ray this year. Ray was a threat and made teams extend out. That allowed shields more space to exploit teams. It also made our pick and role much more dangerous. We desperately need a 3rd scorer, which we haven't had all year. You can defend all you want, but you still have to score (although Virginia is challenging that notion). I'll put more blame on miles if we have shields, petteway, and white all around for next year and we still can't score.
  10. Maybe he sees the floor because he brings energy and effort and he plays excellent defense. He looked like the only one competing in the first half he was doing his job and he attacked the basket a few times but he did hesitate a lot instead of attacking at the pack defense Wiscy had. I thought he played well but I agree that he needs to shoot good but if he can't shoot he should drive and not hesitate to keep his momentum toward the basket. Next year if parker can give us six a game and we don't play stand around offense we can be good or get everyone a touch thn everyone has rhythm or can shoot with confidence Petteway needs to trust his teammates. I can appreciate energy and defense but when you struggle to score; at what point does it not make sense for him to play? He's a role player at best. Great to come in and give max energy for short bursts but there is no way he should play the minutes he does. I realize we may not have a better option, but that is a completely different issue. I'm not trying to pick on him alone, it's just tough to watch a kid who is legitimately hurting the offense and his teammates by being on the floor.
  11. Btw- anyone see wiscy stay 15 feet off Parker and pack the lane while daring him to shoot? He wouldn't do it. From a guy who played college ball; I'd sit in the gym and shoot 500 shots a day if not more to ensure that didn't happen. That is so embarrassing. Kid has zero confidence. Really don't understand how he can see the floor at a d1 level.
  12. If you've ever played a sport at a competitive level; bickering and general disgust happen when things aren't going well. These kids want to win as bad as we want them to win. You can't compare this year to last year. Winning solves everything, which we did a lot of last year. Obviously scoring 42 points helped this game look better, but that first half was almost unwatchable. Wiscy didn't play very well last night and was able to win because we are so hot and cold with our shots. Yes; some shots are contested, but we shot 17% in the first half. Brutally bad. Same thing happened against pen state. Not sure if miles has some kids on the bench who can shoot or not; but I'd like to see some kids come off the bench and get a shot. Even if it's only for a few minutes per game. I dont see what it could hurt at this point. Maintaining the status quo obviously isn't the answer (see the last 3 first half totals for Nebraska).
  13. That was tough to watch. Need SOMEONE to make a shot from time to time. I don't remove the blame from Pettaway, if he wants to play the NBA he has to find ways to score when his shot is off, but no one else helps him outside of SS. Tough night for him = loss instantly for us. I'd also like to see Miles open it up and try to get easy baskets. I get the point of making the other team play defense, but we need those scores. We struggle to score at too many points during every game. Even had the issue against MSU, which was masked by us shooting 50%. Really frustrating. That was half of Michigan's bench that did that to us.
  14. Just read Bo's statement. While I agree that this will allow bo to concentrate on what matters, even in that statement, you can see why no large university with a large alumni base would want to touch bo. The guy doesn't endear himself to the people that pay the bills at all. I can respect being a ball coach, but none of these high paying jobs are just coaching anymore... People expect more if your going to make north of 3 mill. Speaking of that; anyone ever seen bo release a statement on his Nebraska tenure? Someone needs to phone will muschamps agent and have him hook bo up with a pr person. That is how you graciously leave a university. You make more than 20 mill and are the highest paid figure head in the state for more than 5 years, you should at least have a statement, even if it's after a tough moment. Was indifferent on if bo was fired, but damn he's a stubborn ahole. Hence he's going to ysu. Wish him luck.
  15. Anyone who thinks like the op can fedex me there tickets. I can find someone to go. How some of you are considered adults is mind boggling to me. It's two games. I hated last Saturday as much as the next person but it's one game. Let's hope our guys respond this week and finish the season strong. 11-2 is a HELL of a year. This team is only graduating 13 kids. The sky is not falling. RELAX and enjoy the little bit of college football we have left.
  16. It's senior day on Saturday and one of the best huskers to ever play will be having his last home game. Some of you are talking about not going to make a point?? What the hell is wrong with you? Trust me, I'm as frustrated as any of you. The mistakes last Saturday on the defensive side (I honestly didn't think an off tackle play was so effective) were incredibly disappointing. We looked liked a poorly coached team. However, this is not the game to try to make a point IMO. These kids don't deserve that. When season ticket renewals come up and no changes have been made, the administration will hear you loud. Although if some of you want to give up those great seats I'll GLADLY take them off your hands.
  17. I'm surprised the line is @ 5.5. Very tempted to throw some action at that. We could lose but unless we just throw the game away (think msu last year) I don't see how this game gets outside of 3 points. On a different level than any team they've played since week 1 with or without Abdullah.
  18. Wiscy has looked mediocre for a good portion of the season. I'm still not convinced stave can consistently throw the ball or that they have a deep threat. Statistically, we're the best team they have played to date. Not sure if that is because we're good or their schedule is horrible. Probably a mixture of them both. Overall, we've faced defenses that are more talented and athletic in Miami and State. I also think both had more dynamic offenses. We may very well lose, but I like our chances here. Definitely do not fear this wiscy team. Should be a hell of game.
  19. Georgia is garbage. They've beaten no one and lost to both an awful Florida and SC. They honestly shouldn't be in the top 20 (how the hell are they above LSU even?). A&M being ranked is so bad. That team got beat 59-0 and barely beat ULM. Auburn is a big win, but enough to slide past a few if those others? No. Hell, Wisconsin being that close to us is even disrespectful. They lost to NORTHWESTERN. How the hell they move up 5 spots is absolutely ludicrous. So much failure from the committee. Really need to win this week and have Miami take care of business against fsu.
  20. Husker freak- What gives you any indication that wisky has improved since they played LSU? That they beat up on teams that are in the lower half of all FBS teams in both total offense and defense? Wisconsin got LSU at the perfect time to beat them. New quarterback, many new starters on defense. I actually think the game would trend more towards LSU at this point. I don't want to diminish wisky as they appear to be good but we are leaps ahead of any team they've played since LSU in talent on both sides of the ball. They haven't come close to playing a defense like ours since LSU. I'm not saying we will win, but don't heap praise on a team who has done nothing other than beat the teams they should and lose to northwestern (who coincidently enough is the best defense outside of LSU they played to date).
  21. I realize the defense for msu looks great on paper, but I watched that entire Purdue game and I'm not impressed. Looking at the schedule I'm even less impressed. A win in Iowa city is easily there best win.. You know you have had an easy schedule to date when you can say our schedule has easily been more difficult. I still think it'll be a close game but @ home vs. a team that struggled against Purdue.. I like our chances.
