  1. I never said I didn't like coaches yelling. It's just he has this monster face he uses. As I said earlier, I find it embarrasing. Yelling to be heard, and raging are two different things. But hey, that's just my opinion. I understand the levels of noise and the urgency to get a point across. How about you stop deciding what is or isn't my sport and discuss the topic. He's not deciding what your sport is... He's stating the obvious... if you ever strapped on a chin strap, you would understand what he's saying.. you just don't like Bo's facial expressions.. it just how intense he looks when he does it that bothers you... it obviously doesn't bother the players.. This BS started with poking TM in the chest for breaking team rules during a game.... Bo addresses a problem when it comes to his attention, and he doens't care what you think. he's running the team his way, it's his job to keep or lose.. who are you to say you don't like his facial expressions.... I agree with him... you are just a band member that has never suited up.. you want to be handled with kid gloves and would walk off the practice field before you even had a chance to play because your feeling got hurt... Grow up.. it's the media that sheds the ugle light on Bo.. he hasn't (at least in my memory) used profanity laced rants during games, like Iowa's coach caught on video using more than one that I wouldn't want underage kids seeing.... grow some and get a life..... Instead of attacking me, (you don't even know who I am) and telling me to grow up, I'll point a finger at who needs to stop attacking the poster and discuss the topics in an adult fashion. You have no idea what I've done my whole life. Yet you've judged all that I've done based on a posting in a forum . So I'll ask again with a shorter sentence: What did they change to play so much better? (I understand Bo's face when he yells. I was making a wrong assumption of him raging. My mistake and I apologize profusely for my misunderstanding)
  2. Me too actually. I think they (coaching staff) are very close to a good combination of direction and choice of players. I'm basing all this on the disposition of the team. I hope like Hell they look this good when they start back up. I was yelling to encourage them instead of yelling at them in discouragement.

So the point of the thread is u don't like his face or their is a set amount of passion coaches are allowed to use to coach with. Nothing to see here. There was no set point to my discussion thread. I've enjoyed all the talk in here. I've seen some points of view that my stubborn ass didnt' want to see, but eventually did. I never said anything about limit of passion. Not sure where you even grabbed that from. But if that is your contribution to the chat, then I welcome it. If that's what the guy looks like when he yells, then I'm all about it. My world is one sided until someone grabs my head and points me to a different view. Yeah...that bull headed.
  4. I totally understand my perception of what I see. I'm basing my idea of what he says based on his history of what I've heard him say. I could be completely wrong. I'll admit that. I'm NOT SAYING to stop yelling at players...I'm not sure where I actually said that in the thread....A lot of assumptions are being made. I'm talking about his raging. Does he make that face to yell? If so, then fine. I interpret that as losing his temper. So..to discuss the preparation: When do they actually start practice for the season? Spring practice? That is almost 8 months without a game to be ready for a specific purpose. What did they change?

Not sure how to respond to the intelligence here... Was this what they did different to prep for the game? Or is this what he says to his players?..... Thanks for contributing to the topic discussion!
  6. Well, to be fair--it isn't really a debate on the sideline. If Bo wants to walk off after hollering at a player, he can. What he says is final. I met Bo last year in the locker room and he was walking around like a normal person, the countenance on his face was twisted and stern. He approached my brothers and I and chatted for a few seconds he was nice and smiling. Then we posed for a couple pictures and sure enough his face is just dead panned and glum in each one. It's just Bo's face, stern and kinda glum if he's not smiling. Don't judge a raging nose by its cover. You have ZERO idea what he's saying to his players out there and how he's saying it and why. That is a good point. I don't know him. I'm just making a dumb assumption based on what he does in public. But it's what I do. *falls over*

  8. Wouldn't that be reflection of your coaching skills?
  9. I honestly think he was worried for his job. His smile, to me (just my opinion) seemed much more than a win..it looked like a relief that he keeps his job. Just wait until he gets comfortable again, he'll be the raging nose as always.
  10. What we did different to prep for the bowl game? We should've looked that good ALL season. There was minimal gawking at the 3 monkeys on the sidelines...We looked confident and focused. We actually aggressively tackled. Two thoughts: (1) Was the pressure on the Raging Nose's position enough that he made sure they were ready? (2)Bo really needs to stop publicly raging in player's faces. I understand things don't go right and you have to get a player's attention, but he doesn't yell; he rages. it's embarrasing to watch: Stare down the player until he gets close, then his face contorts into his rage face, Step up into the player's grill, then he blasts away, turning when HE is done. Doesn't even give the player time to respond. I know if I were looking for a place to go play ball, I'd give second thoughts to a coach that has an uncontrolled temper. Grats to the players for an amazing ball game!
  11. The boosters are probably just happy that so many people are sitting at the games now and that makes for a more enjoyable experience for them. While this is currently true, if the trend of losing, playing bad, inconsistent performance continues and people stop showing up; what then? It's a business. It's all about revenue. I heard that the waiting time for season tickets is disappearing...Nothing to confirm this. I am a fan, but I'm not sure I want to go watch 3 monkeys throwing hand signals to confused players, a ranting coach, who takes shots at officials (bad calls or not) when I can stay home and flip to other games on cable. I'm sure I'm not the only one. A disappointed fan base = lost revenue. It starts hitting them in the checkbook, then I think they'll take a serious look at what needs to happen. Guess what? Stay home then! Somebody else will gladly buy you tickets. Hopefully somebody that will support coaches and players instead of hinder the program! No need to be angry. Not addressing you personally. Just throwing my opinions out there; that's what this forum says you can do. So let me ask you this: You don't think the Raging Nose and his band of hand signal monkeys aren't hindering our program? If they were playing better, with good, solid execution, loss or win, would we even be discussing this? My gf works has worked for the university for 34+ years. We are season ticket holders. I don't mind watching a loss or a win. I stay the whole game, but I'd be much happier if we just looked GOOD even if we lost. We don't.
  12. Not going to happen. They show little improvement with tackling, direction, and playing confidence. Now Bo has a contract, you think he's worried about making a huge difference? I don't. He's got cash in the pocket now. If they can't improve their last 4 or 5 games...please explain how they will improve next year. You can't. Take off your fanboi glasses and look at all the talent we have then watch them them go to the field and the WHOLE team stare at the sidelines watching the 3 monkies because they don't know what to do. No one is making a personal attack on you. Because they don't agree that next year we will be champs doesn't make them less of a fan. They see a problem that needs addressed.

  14. I agree but for other reasons. First at this point with all the latest goings on Chancelor Pearlman and A.D. Eichorst's failure to makea public statement in support of Coach Pellini does kind of seem odd and telling at the same time. They have to know that it can and more than likley is having an effect on Recruiting. Second at this point seriously who in their right mind would be interested in the job if they do cut him loose? I have yet to see a serious list of interested guys that have what this program needs most of all and thats a modern Tom Osborne.....if there is a coach out there with all qualities he has and is a proven forward thinking person with the morality of T.O. I dont have a clue where he is at do any of you ? you find him and I will jump on the bandwagon and ask for a glass of fire Coach Bo. Third if he gets canned or leaves on his own we can kiss another 5-6 years goodbye cause the guys on the team now with the exception of a few 5th yr seniors are all his guys now and lets not forget the only head coaching exp. He had before getting the call from T.O. Is the bowl game where we beat Sparty and co. Wow how quickly we seem to forget that. You are aware also that there are only 3 teams who can lay claim to 5 consecutive 9 win seasons today right ? and Nebraska is one of them, along with Alabama and oh hell I forget now but anyway my point is, this is not the same as hiring a head coach with a proven system and solid follow him anywhere staff this is all new to both O and D cordinators as well as the head man. To build something special takes time and luck, well we have always had to earn everything we have gotten by hard work honesty and loyalty and I think we have bankrupt the luck bank for sure. Does any of this ring any bells? or am I just wasting my time trying to get some to see either we stick with him now ( because we let the process go on till now ) or do we take the easy route to more problems than we have now and cut him loose You are spot on. People also forget that an employer does not talk about their employees to the press or anyone else. Bo is an employee of the University of Nebraska. Do we expect the AD or Chancellor to comment about the job status of anyone else at the university? Of course not-that would be unethical and could be illegal. What would it say about this program for Nebraska to once again fire a coach who is consistently winning at least 9 games a season? Who would come here? Forget the 'we've got money to throw at an experienced coach' excuse. We had that same money when they fired Solich and look where it got us. My prediction is that Bo is going to leave of his own accord. I wouldn't blame him either. Imagine living your life under the microscope like he does. If this happens I'll be sad because I think he has a great group of kids who love football and love to play football. Bo has done some really good things for this program namely kept his players out of trouble, graduated academic all americans and has done some wonderful things in the community. Those things in the end are going to be a heck of a lot more important than winning a football game. But we'll see. I say he's probably done with Nebraska and ready to move on. If that happens-my fear is that some of our key players may look for another place to play as well. THAT is a huge danger in changes coaches. I say support our current team and our current coach. GO BIG RED! True he has done great things as a person and as a mentor. But what it really...REALLY comes down to is revenue generated. So our team is good and improving..but we are slowly fading into college ball obscurity instead of being an icon of what other teams used to strive for. There are many other schools now that have just as many things to offer a ball player in our region. Not sure exactly where I'm going with this......maybe I'm wrong...but there is always that silent underlying force called money.
  15. Okay. How about this... you made a stereotype based on race. Does that sit better with you? What stereotype? Where did I compare one race to another? Ahh...I get it...my first post and the trolls lie in waiting... There is something implied in there... You are making assumptions that aren't there. I could say that you imply you're dense. See how assumptions are wrong? Again, I'm not putting any race above any other. omg...you trolls have led me into an argument that is almost about race vs target demographics of music genres and marketing... But...you 3rd graders will have the last word. They always do. So I've said what I had to say on a discussion board. Go ahead...berate me to make yourselves feel superior. Every forum has it's trolls....
  16. I'll reply using your logic. If my posts bother you so much, ignore me or don't read them.
  17. Allowed. a·loud (-loud) adv. 1. With use of the voice; orally You DO have a problem with word definitions.
  18. Rap music brings people to Nebraska? That makes no sense.

  20. Let me help you with a word that is so commonly thrown around and misused. Racist: Noun 1. racist - a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others I am saying I see a crowd with the majority being older Caucasian. Not saying they are better or worse. I'm talking about music. Sorry if you got confused. Here is some more information for you: Demographic In focusing on the Pepsi-Cola beverage product, PepsiCo has retained a long history of concentrating on youth as its main target market – “Generation Next!” It has spent billions of dollars in trying to woo the young and nearly young, implying that Coca-Cola is for the older generation. and the website: http://www.scribd.com/doc/16063593/PepsiCo
  21. The fuss is because of a few things. Here's what I see happening: WHEN we do get an opening, and take off down field with the ball, there are NEVER, NEVER any blockers paving the way. They are always on the other side of the field and we end up with 3 opponents on the ball carrier. Our tackles...WHY do we have to run right up to the person to tackle? THROW yourself at them and wrap them up...I watch videos of past players on the big screen and wonder why we don't play with that much aggression and passion anymore... I see our players go out to the field and CONSTANTLY look to the sidelines for plays..you see them...jog out...turn around, jog back....then run back out to the field, only to stop once or twice more to make sure what they need to do. Do we NOT KNOW? I look to the coaching staff on the sidelines...I see what appears to be 3 monkeys doing hand signals to get a treat.....HOW confused are you 3? How confused are the players?? We don't have CONFIDENCE on the field...We don't have BASICS down plain and simple. You can fanboi all you want, there are basic team mechanics missing.
  22. I realize the sponsorship by Pepsi, I realize their target demographic. Take a moment the next game...all I can see are mostly Caucasian people. No, not being racist by any means; just making an honest observation. Most are sitting there as I do, gritting their teeth waiting for the repetitive music loops and the chanting of the ©rap music to stop. There is better music to play if you want to fire up the crowd. The only people I see reacting from the garbage ( and I DARE call it music) is the small student section. Or at least turn it down until the game announcements start... I know not everyone shares my opinion on music. It's very very annoying..
