  1. Yeah, that's not really true. And Riley lost more games he shouldn't that Pelini did in seven years. Well, we know where you stand. What, lines are being drawn? This does not bode well for this staff.
  2. Did you see the stat line? 6 passes thrown (1 of those by a WR). 26 rushes by a QB out of 77 total attempts. New age Husker fans would throw a conniption. Georgia tech runs the hell out of the ball, hell Alot of option with coastal talent.and they suck worse than Nebraska. That's highly debatable this season. And they have been better running that system (with much less talent) than NU has been in a while (see the 2014 season for them).
  3. Pelini sucked as a person, coach, and leader, and teacher. Him having fun tonight would be fitting. He makes a better OSU or Iowa fan then a Husker coach. Continue to cling to that misconception as tightly as you can.
  4. For those arguing that this is about talent. Iowa starting OL (per this link): LT - Walkon LG - .82 3-star (P5 offers from Iowa and Iowa St) C - .89 4-star (highly recruited) RG - .87 3-star (no other offers) LT - .85 3-start (handful of P5 offers, but none by the traditional B10 powers of Michigan, OSU, PSU, Wisconsin or Nebraska - best offer was probably from Miami) 3 of 5 of them from Iowa (the other two from Ohio). 3 of them are sophomores or younger. None are seniors. They may be more productive, but I highly doubt they have more raw talent than our group.

  6. With the new format of conferences and the additional of a CCG, winning a division title is more meaningful than people want to admit. Tired of people acting like NU has been sh#t for 15 years. In reality, we had two awful seasons in 15 years. Some average seasons. And a few nice seasons. We haven't had any amazing seasons, but it's not as binary as "something vs nothing." To act that way really diminishes a lot of effort on the part of our players over the years.
  7. More talent? GTFO with that noise. NU is far more talented than Iowa. Better coached? Maybe. Certainly more loyal to their coaches.
  8. Losing by 30 tonight was purely a product of bad coaching. THey did nothing to stem the tide with their offensive playcalling and our defensive scheme has always been flawed. It was just exposed tonight for the ridiculously vanilla, predictable system that it is. And you're nuts if you don't think championships aren't the goal, top to bottom. But guess what, championships are the goal top to bottom across college football.
  9. Yes. But both teams are on scholarship. Emotion is overrated. It's about preparation and execution. And it's why the notion that an average staff could be a lot better with a better roster never really rang true for a lot of us. I don't think Riley deserves to be fired at this point, but I'm not going to pretend he has a higher ceiling than what he's demonstrated over a long career.
  10. This season is reminiscent of 2006 when it appeared that cosgrove was decent because he had superior athletes and faced awful offenses. Banker is not a good coach. Whether Riley wants to fire an average or worse coach, that's up to him. Even if he did, I have no idea who he'd hire he doesn't have a coaching tree as far as I can tell.
  11. Perhaps. But I suspect he feels bad for the kids. If he's not too busy preparing his team for the playoffs. He is where he should be, FCS. He will be successful there without the media interest and fan pressure. Doesn't mean he still shouldn't have been fired for being a complete and total pile of trash a-hole. Whatever you say.

  13. This is dangerous territory right now. NU could get blasted if Riley doesn't get guys to step up and compete.
  14. In all likelihood, the Huskers will lose more next year than this year.
  15. They better keep coaching or this could end up at 40+-10
  16. You have no idea what that exchange was about. And only non-athletes get twisted about that.
  17. We've had great quarterback recruiting. We just haven't had them pan out, for whatever reason(s). Great is a pretty generous way to describe our QB recruiting up until last year. I would say average at best.Recruiting is measurable by results, and by that token it's been 8 years of 2 guys basically accounting for pretty good QB play with almost no real depth behind them. Recruiting is measured by recruiting results, in which case I'm entirely comfortable calling it great. Tommy Armstrong Jr, Johnny Stanton, and Zack Darlington were all very highly regarded and were our #1 picks on top of our board. Tommy would be half of the 8yrs, Stanton fizzled under 2 staffs and transfered and Darlington was never going to be a starter regardless where he went because of injuries and we knew that before he graduated HS. If you wanna measure it solely off of rankings before those players ever take the field then, sure.....our QB recruiting was just ACES! Stanton fizzled under two staffs? What?
  18. If you're saying Riley refers to local recruiting dismissively, provide evidence. If not, carry on. I'll carry on. And you can reread the thread.
  19. Most people, including Riley, refer to "local" as the 500 mile radius. I think Riley talks about "two tanks of gas."
  20. No idea. But it seems like you were kind of saying that when you said he changed his philosophy to concentrate on faraway football hotbeds.
  21. Speaking of former coaches, congratulations to Solich for clinching his division with a win last night and putting his team in position to pull off an upset. Congratulations to Pelini for piloting his team to their first playoff appearance in 10 years. A very nice next step from last year's performance. Last I chcecked, Gill was doing well at Liberty and we all know Bohl is performing well at Wyoming. Glad to see some great coaches continue their success.
  22. I don't see Frost choosing Oregon over say Nebraska. Oregon benefited from some VERY shady recruiting shenanigans and they landed an amazing talent at QB for a period. Overall, though, they will always struggle to recruit consistently against California and other P12 teams - whether or not Phil Knight continues to dump money into the program. In many ways, Oregon and Nebraska are pretty similar in terms of their situation, so I think Frost would choose NU over Oregon if those were the options. On the other hand, I think Frost (and most other coaches) would choose an LSU-type SEC school, a well situated ACC school or even Texas (imagine that) over Nebraska. Most rational people would. They might even choose a program like South Carolina over Nebraska.
