  1. Absolutely true. The reason it does not exist is because there is not a market for the players.. If there was, it would exist in this capitalist country. It is the reason every XFL league fails as well. Nobody wants to pay to see the not best in the world play, unless they are repping an area/team/alumni. I don't rarely care much about watching any one player player ever, but my family makes fun of me for watching all things Husker. I love NU and will watch anything, even polo, if they are wearing the scarlet and cream.
  2. Also probably locked in this staff's pitching recruiting for the next 3 years.
  3. I will agree with you. I think Callahan was the guy he just needed to ditch Cosgrove. I still get upset thinking about what could have been matching that O with a decent D.
  4. Not sure what NFL you are watching but the one that has been on display for the past 20+ years doesn't give much of a rats about college stats and gives all the clout to measurables. AM has those. He has them in spades. He has arm strength, he has height, speed character, etc. The NFL knows they can teach him the rest. The only thing a phenomenal season does for him is put him drafted in the first two rounds vs 5th if he has a poor season. He can show in one pro day how much he brings to the table physically, and again, the NFL believe they can coach the rest into hall of fame level.
  5. Going to head down, taking a couple of the kids, but mostly just excited to be going to a public event for the first time in well over a year. I'll support the hell out of that, especially on a beautiful Nebraska spring day.
  6. I'm not crying, you're crying.
  7. Was going to say.. I'm not convinced "good" special teams w/ Bo was anything more that amazing luck having access to 2 great field goal kickers.
  8. Honestly, I Haarberg can be the man we all hope he can be, Smothers with a slightly underwhelming arm is good enough to be a great backup.. I mean, as long as he can accept reality should that come to prove true.
  9. Probably nobody. I think that is just part of Frost/Duval's job to make sure that they don't put themselves in a position that somebody would feel like saying that.
  10. He'll be fine and end up a Heisman finalist. Going to be a fun year for a change.
  11. Omaha kids tend to think Nebraska as a state in general is lame. They grow up thinking they have the best the state has to offer there and when they have become bored with that after 18 years, they set their sites on what they perceive to be bigger and better things. Maybe they find something out there wonderful, but I am guessing that most of them will end up seeing that going to school and playing football in the college scenes are similar about anywhere you go. Ya, maybe you can ski a few more times if you go to Denver and maybe you can beach a few more times if you go to Miami, but all in all, your time will be spent training and in class if you want to make it at the next level.
  12. The good news is RB is the easiest position on the field to come in and make and immediate impact, so lack of experience there doesn't bother me near as much as lack of talent would. Do we have talent there? No idea. But if we do, that position much less of a liability. WR a different animal. It is dismal when looking there. On paper we look to have more talent there, but nobody can argue that experience isn't king at that position, and we are far short in that department. I don't expect anything earth shattering there this year. If AM can come out improved at his position and one or two of the RB live up to good, not great, but good we could be a decent team. I think we could optimistically hope our WR core comes out as serviceable and average. Our O-line should be good this year. TE's should be good, and a huge upgrade to what we've had for the past 10 years and I would hope we would utilize the hell out of them. Our D should be above average, missing a pass rusher so can't hope for greatness there. I anticipate special teams as average, but better than poor. Overall I see a 7 out of 10 team, which is better than the 5 out of 10 I've seen the past 4 years. I don't anticipate a season that we all will be super proud of, but I do anticipate a season that allows us to not be completely miserable. Ringing endorsement, I know.
  13. Will be interesting ultimately to see how Mr. Wandale stacks up when his time comes. Just to see if we had a Rondale v2.0 on our sideline or something a little less shiny.
  14. We haven't had an upper classman on the roster since TO was walking the sidelines.
  15. So, you're saying there's a chance.....
  16. The reality is this could be as simple as coaches blowing smoke about how recruiting to this place is hard, game day atmosphere is the best card in our deck, no game day atmospheres in 2020 and now not until October 2021, etc, which somebody caught wind of blew out of proportion. It could also be as horrible as a coach single handedly think he is a god and going over everybody's head to try to be a wuss and skimp out of a tough road matchup to save face and his job. The reality is, with the meatgrinder of a schedule, I am not sure that I believe Scott was worried about the L too much. It's all too absurd to even attempt to understand, and, in my experience life, if it doesn't walk like a duck or talk like a duck, it probably isn't a duck. I'm guessing the truth is based more in stupidity and maliciousness than the tale being spun, but, until we know for sure, I just hope spring ball starts soon.
  17. Ya, at the end of the day, similar to the football forum.. More success will lead to more interest. I love all things NU so I hang out in the basketball section during the season, but I don't live and breath it near as much when we are bad, which we usually are. But there's always next year!
  18. But when does spring ball start?
  19. I don't think it is fair to lob this criticism toward John Cook. The guy knows how to have the girls ready to play.
  20. But that's the thing. Most of his options are not recent consistent winners.
  21. Attitude/culture thing at play here. I don't know the kid at all and never want speak ill of young people because I know they are under a lot of pressure these days. That said, if your priority is getting south for party's and sun, you were never going to be the type of player that would work out here. I'd even go so far to hedge a guess he will ultimately bust anyway, but I know I'm not supposed to do that. The schools on his list are not even quality schools. He's chasing party's and sun.
  22. Not being interested at all out of the gate is the opposite of loyal.
