  1. For sure; Martinez is still the same guy we thought he was freshman year. He didn't suddenly forget how to play. The departure of Stan morgan, JD and ozigbio hurt badly. That's on frost for not having dudes ready to pick up the slack, but damn. I challenge anyone to find a team that wins with no skill players. Our wide receiver corps was pathetic. I guess you can get by if your a pure power running team, but you better have a bad a$$ Online and some backs in the stable. We have neither nor is that our scheme. If we can get production out of our skill players (mainly WR) and clean up the mistakes and turn overs I bet we ball out. If not, expect more of the same.
  2. In this case it does We have made our self a laughing stock of a program. We have fired not 1, but 2 coaches that had consistent 9+ win seasons. That's a bad look and I doubt many coaches that are worth a damn want to walk into that situation. As far as recruiting, Out of 130 fbs teams, 19 had higher rankings than us this year so mediocre doesn't seem to be the term I would use, but to each their own. The dude has been a HC for 5 or 6 years. Step back from the edge. He has made some coaching errors, some curious play calls in critical situations and has not blown me away with player development up to this point but please elaborate on another "Philosophy" that could work here and would realistically be a viable candidate? because outside of hiring an established elite head coach, elite position coaches and bringing in blue chip players year after year, I got news for you, only a handful of programs can or will do that and it ain't us, never has been us and prolly never will be us. we would be rolling the dice on another unproven, washed up or "up and commer" hoping for the best and the revolving door continues. The only thing that can get us back on track is consistacy over time. A ruff pill to swallow but best to just face reality. We have had so much instability in our AD office and football coaching staffs it's no wonder we cant get anything going. If a grand slam hire is out there, by all means pull the trigger, but don't change just for the sake of change, that's just flat out stupid.
  3. Omg...you all need to chill. I have been pretty critical of Scott as some of the things that have happened since he took over have left me scratching my head. Irregardless, the guy inherited a program that need a complete overhaul top to bottom. Think about that for a second.....that's a tuff ask. Maybe 3 or 4 guys in the county coach wise could come in and turn a turd into a champion in 3 years, 1 of those being a COVID year and 1 of then apparently ain't SF (at least at Nebraska). That being said, I've also stated if we really wanted a quick fix we needed to give saben, Myer or Bob stoops a blank check and get the F out of the way. We obviously won't do that so you should prolly face the fact that we need to play the long game, deal with the fact it takes time to bring a washed up program back from the dead. I believe Scott can get us back to competing for conference titles and being nationality relevant, but it may not happen in 3..5...maybe even 7 years. Just deal with it. At least Scott actually gives a $h!t about Nebraska, and if he gets canned, we are probably just going to hire some Bum so we may as well sink or swim with 1 of our own. No program with a revolving door of coaches is generally any good. Scott seems to be adjusting; you can tell by his recruiting. He's going for big strong guys vs small, quick and shifty like before. IDK, we should all just take it down a notch and give the man some time. Just sayin
  4. I'm pretty much a glass half empty guy at all times but picking up a 6'6" 210lbs guy with a big arm seems like a good thing. Idk, just sayin
  5. I believe we are sick of our play calling/coach not using small receivers as running backs, but as receivers where they can get open and receive the football.
  6. More of the same. Just like at the beginning of last season when we said we would play anyone, anywhere, anytime any how....then declined the bowl game at the end. All talk and the byproduct of mediocrity (mediocrity is actually being quite generous at this point)
  7. There ya go, fixed that for ya.
  8. I've always thought this. We need to sign frank to a 1 day contract, allow him to retire and sacrifice a goat or something at mid field. Maybe then the curse can be lifted.
  9. Error...posted in wrong thread.
  10. I wouldn't put any stock in what an iowa native has to say. Prolly still has an axe to grind from his cyclone days https://www.huskermax.com/game/1999-iowa-state-football/
  11. In all fairness, the defenses have had to adjust. Normally, they would need to game plan all week, make note of tendencies and formations and identify mismatches then come up with a scheme then practice executing that plan. With us, that is not needed as teams can play base, vanilla defense and not worry about all that stuff because out offense sucks. In that sense, Scott was right
  12. To all y'all haters out there...told ya so! Just a year too soon for you to handle.
  13. Huh...pay elite assistants top dollar and they will come and coach for your program weird
  14. FYI, we gonna suck on offense wheather wan'dale is here or not, so, there's that.
  15. That would be awesome, dude had 5 catches and 0 TDs all year. That would do us a favor. Thanks Kurt!
  16. Exactly, it's not 1 issue, it's like 7 or 8.
  17. Anyways, back to spring practice. Can't wait till we get back to the practice field so we can work on our swing pass game. We should be ripping off 2, maybe 3 yards a pop by week 1! GBR!
  18. I remember when these guys were the next joe montana in a husker uniform: Harrison beck, Tristan gebbia, Bubba starling, Ryker Fyfe, Patrick o'brian, Tanner lee, Mike stuntz, Cody green, Sam keller, Brion carnes, Johnny stanton, Zack darlington, AJ bush, etc, etc; you get the point. Will smothers be a baller or a turd? Who knows. What I do know is until we get our OL figured out, stop the bad snaps, turnovers, make an actual commitment to run the ball, stop the penalties, get some reliable recievers that can get open and quit with the questionable play calling, it wouldn't matter if you put patrick mahomes back there. 1 guy isn't going to tip the scales for us with all that garbage. I've been pretty critical of AM, but the guy isn't getting a ton of help from the rest of the team and coaching staff. He's probably the best QB on the roster at the end of the day.
