  1. Add Georgia to the list. Just saw Richt "will not be returning next season"...no further details.
  2. I don't know how old you are, but if this is a problem to you, then I understand why you are nostalgic for the Big XII. I NEVER liked the Big XII because they seemed to constantly treat Nebraska like a 2nd class citizen. Texas basically blew up the old SWC, caused teams to leave (or threaten to leave), and left them with no other choice than to just implode the damn thing. So the remains of the conference come begging at the door for the Big-8 to save their sorry asses and we basically handed the keys over to Texas and let them take the wheel. My nostalgia is that we should be playing Oklahoma on the Friday after Thanksgiving...Not F'ing Iowa and certainly not F'ing Colorado. That's why I don't give a flaming sh!t about the Big XII and will never miss that conference. I do miss the Big-8, but it is gone. Old enough to recognize how fun it was to play teams like CO and OK instead of Purdue and Indiana. Even with the introduction of the Texas teams, it was still better in MY OPINION from a football fan perspective. Also, if you think we will ever be treated like "first class citizens" in the big 10, your fooling yourself; we are add on members, nothing more. I have family all over big 10 country on the east and none of them...not a single one gives 2 sh#ts about Neb or their history. this attitude seems to be shared by most of the fan base of the core big 10 schools. If you want your ass kissed by a conference, perhaps we could join the MAC or something where our reputation from 20 years ago might hold some weight.
  3. I think we can all agree on that!
  4. meh...not really. we wouldnt of won the big 12 either. I just think we should play teams in our own time zone and general geographical area and not leave a conference we help build because texASS has their own TV channel.
  5. for me, I will never see a dollar of the revenue enjoyed by the university for moving to the big 10 and I am strictly talking about football here. I just liked the rivalries and history we had. I know living in Kansas City there are Alums from all over the big 12 and it was fun as hell talking sh#t and hanging out durring the season, not to mention I could drive a few hours an get to half of the away games without breaking the bank. I will never go to pascataway NJ or College park MD for a game...ever. Nor have I ever met a graduate of northwestern to talk about those epic matchups we played back in the day. I guess I am selfish, but damn...I hate the big 10.
  6. how so? top programs in the big 12 were and always were, nebraska, OK, and Tex. No. We weren't. For the latter part of our time in the conference it was Texas by a country mile, then OU, then the rest of us. We did not hold much power or authority in that conference. so you agree with me, the head hogs always were Neb, Tex and OK. Where is texas now? bringing up the rear currently..its all cyclical.
  7. Agreed, the University will bring in more cash in the long run, but Nebraska wont be on equal financial grounds with other Big10 schools or be full partners in the big ten network until 2017, infact most big 12 schools made more since Nebraska jumped ship; I guess this was part of the "innitiation phase" if you will.
  8. how so? top programs in the big 12 were and always were, nebraska, OK, and Tex.
  9. As a young husker fan growing up in Nebraska in the big 8, and later, the big 12 era, I cant help but feel we should have stayed put. Every year, especially after thanksgiving since joining the big 10, I always get nostalgic & think "we should be playing Colorado right now, not F'ing Iowa". Im sorry, I tried to get on board with the big 10 thing but I just cant. I cant get excited about playing Rutgers or Purdue, or some other team thats 1000 miles away...I just dont care as much. Now just utter the words "Nebraska vs Oklahoma" and I get all sorts of fired up...you do too if you've been a fan for a long time. I dont care about Michigan vs. Ohio State or any other big 10 tradition...why? because Nebraska will never be part of building that tradition. we are just add on members and always will be. In the big 12 we were a foundation team...one of the head hogs at the trough if you will. We gave that up. I wish we would go back (obviously that probably will never happen)...just my 2 cents.
  10. That seems to be the general consensus of the board. This thread in particular cites some reasons why axing MR would not be a good idea.
  11. Shad says a source "close to the program" cites the expectation of LSU to be contending for champoinships year in and year out and Miles isnt doing that. Obviously this is just Scuttlebutt at this point.
  12. Maybe add LSU to the list. Saw a spot on sports center and Joe Shad says its pretty likely Les Miles will be out as the Bayou Bangles head guy. Presser today; nothing official as of yet.
  13. We didn't run all that well against MSU and Iowa's run defense is better. (I still think we'll win though) We definitely ran well enough to make MSU at least respect the run. I would like to see cross and Ozigbo split carries this week. Once the big boy gets rolling, its tough to bring him down thats for certain.
  14. official KCsker game day ritual commencing...heres the protocol. 1)Go to Caseys and get a large pizza...breakfast or pepperoni is acceptable. 2) buy some good beer. A nice IPA or some Boulevard wheat will do. 3) turn on game 4) watch game while drinking the beer and eating the pizza you obtained in steps 1 and 2 5) cheer for BIG RED! that is all GBR!!!!!!!!!!
  15. for some reason i think we somehow win this one. this seems like a huge trap game for MSU. They have looked shaky at times this year even though they are undefeated and we have nothing to loose. I cast my vote for Big red upset of sparty! GBR Bitches!!!!!!
  16. I think every year, or every other year there is 1 or 2 really good coaches that become available. Last year was Harbaugh and as it turns out, McElwaine. 1 or 2 programs get a stud, and the rest of the programs are left fighting for scraps. I think this year or next, perhaps Chip Kelly may find his way back to the collage ranks but other than that, Im not sure who would even be a "splash hire" for any program at this point in the year. Im sure time will tell, but Its not often an Urban Meyer or Nick Saben caliber coach is on the market.
  17. I think you missed the point..perhaps if you would have read the whole post you MIGHT have picked up on that.
  18. in no particular order the current HC opening are: USC Miami Minnesota Virginia Tech Hawaii South Carolina North Texas Maryland Illinois Central Florida out of these teams at least 3 or 4 would be considered by most to be more high profile and desirable than Neb, if we were to give Riley the boot (which I am of the notion). What we have here gentlemen is a supply vs demand problem. Based on the current landscape and our programs reluctancy to loosen the purse straps to buy a big name "splash hire"; I think the best thing we can do is suck it up & take it in the tail pipe a little longer...we basically have no choice. Lets hope MR makes some changes in the off season at key positions on the coaching staff and lands some good recruits. Hang in there husker nation! GBR!!!!
  19. KC Sker

    Rutgers

I will watch, cheer, drink beer and eat pizza. GBR!!!!
  20. I'm not sure how to break this to ya, but.. Nebraska doesn't have men's bowling. [/quote I dont know how to break this to you, but I was being facetious......that was the pont.
  21. if we were KS atleast we would have basketball to look forward to. but since we suck at basketball, well at least our mens bowling team is good.
