***Official Northwestern Game Discussion Thread***
jcsmhammel replied to Mavric's topic in Husker Football
I swear it looks like defense has 15 guys on the field the way our oline blocks. -
You are right but it's still a pro style offense
-
I've been saying this forever. Outside of Alabama and USC maybe Stanford or Michigan. Who runs a pro style offense that is good year in year out. Alabama and USC put lineman in the NFL every year. If you don't have the line a pro style does not work in college period.

What if it's another dick Urban Meyer move. Retire then come back. Kstate is a huge step down from Oklahoma but they'd take him in a heart beat when Snyder kicks the bucket

Rumor/Speculation: Why not Art Briles?
jcsmhammel replied to Redshirt's topic in Rumorville: Hirings / Firings / What Ifs
Yeesh. Maybe while we are at it we can hire Ray Lewis to coach linebackers an OJ to coach running backs. -
Does it ever dawn on you guys that stupid threads like this may be a reason why we can't get recruits to commit or they decide to decommit. If you think they don't get in these boards and read stuff you are dead wrong.

How long until Miles is on the hot seat

Here's the thing. I'm not expecting any miracles with Nebraska basketball. I think we would all agre that it's not too much to ask to have a winning record every year and make the big dance at least every other year. But when we consistently score in the 50's-60's it's more the style of play. Who's the right guy for the job. I don't know. But you look at programs that are far inferior to us as for as facilities and you just have to scratch your head when it comes to getting big time players that we can't land any. We had the kid that transferred from Kansas well that didn't work out either. -
Nebraska has invested a lot of money into its basketball program and basically we have the same product on the court. There were times tonight that we ran no offense and everybody is standing around watching one guy dribble around and shoot. We play fairly tough defense but that doesn't excite recruits we need to get a guy in here that can develop scorers cause we will never win unless we can get more then two guys that are capable of scoring. I know there is a big time recruit out of Omaha this year that I'm sure we have zero chance at landing. It's frusrtating when we can't even keep, any of the state best talent.

We are not any different then every other program in the country. That's what's great about college football players come and go. Not just at Nebraska. It's a challenge for every single team in the county to replace "elite" players. Yeesh. You make it sound like we are replacing everybody with junior high kids.

It doesn't help any that we insist on throwing the ball 30 yards down field on 3rd and 4 about 10 times a game. Excited to see a quarterback who is capable of going the progressions and moving the chains.

He made the tackle on the opening kick. It was a pretty good collision. They never said it on tv but he was slow getting up.

I kind of like Dan Hawkins. He may get a little too technical and too much coach talk but I think it's refreshing versus must of the douche bag color guys on tv. -
Westy is way too slow and way too fragile to be drafted. Great hands won't be good enough I'm afraid.
-
Make sure you pass that on to your kids. I need someone to make my sausage mc muffin in the morning.

Can we run a screen for Christ sake. To slow down the blitzing every down -
880 am comes in in Salina as long as it's during the day. The night signal sucks

He's hurt. Shocker
-
This is a non issue to me. He was hurt all the time and pretty much a non factor when he did play. Moving on.

Thanks for the info that's good stuff. I don't feel sorry for espn if they got screwed. They've made their own bed with decreased popularity in the last 5 years.

Does anybody have any information on how Husker games have historically done as far as tv viewers. I've read a couple articles about how bad the ratings have been this year for the bowl games. Considering Nebraskas track record of traveling so well to road games it only makes sense that tv viewing would be pretty good too compared to other teams. Honestly I'm not surprised ratings sucked for the semi final games considering they did them on New Years eve. That's just espns arrogance getting in the way in my opinion

I love all the games. What else is there to watch college basketball. No thank you.
