  1. Ehhh, I don't think I'd go as far to call Kelly a bust in the NFL. He was 26-21 as the HC in Philly. I will grant you that his one season @ SF was a total dumpster fire. Then again, that 2014 SF team was godawful all the way around. Belichick would be lucky to squeeze 6 wins out of that team haha. I think Kelly is an absolutely brilliant offensive mind. I also happen to think he's a bit out there and can see why players would have a lot of difficulty relating to and playing for him. Urban Meyer runs a fairly similar offensive concept to what Chip did at Oregon. It seems to be working out pretty well for him.
  2. I do agree. Setting apart the fact that it would be absurd for Frost to be doing anything right now except focusing on UCF's season, this is what agents are for. It makes literally zero sense for Frost to do anything right now. He's going to be fielding calls from multiple P5 schools for HC openings. Talk about Leverage 101.
  3. Riley was a multi-millionaire before he became coach at Nebraska (judging solely from his length of time as a HC at multiple jobs). Chances are high he has already established generational wealth. I really think he took the job as a challenge. Usually when people make a move to a new career/company money usually checks in at #8 or #9 on the list.
  4. Off the top of my head I can't think of one. I'm quite sure I've never heard of a coach jumping ship while having an undefeated season.
  5. Agreed 100% there. The drops have been problematic at times.
  6. Agree, Lee is looked pretty good these last 4 games. Dude is a tough SOB too. He's the front runner for the Zac Taylor toughness trophy for sure (this should totally be a thing). I don't know if I can go best WR core simply because Nebraska lacks a deep threat. I do think it's top 3. While top 3 is good...not too many other teams really throw the ball too much so it feels like a hollow victory a bit.
  7. You have Terry Wilson floating out there at JUCO as a QB. He's obviously familiar with both Nebraska and Oregon.
  8. Langsdorf must have a bonus in his contract if Lee hits 3000+ passing yards.
  9. The comment was directed to the media. Not sure how you're getting a shot at the fans out of it. I'm not really surprised at the comment to be honest. The staff knows they're on the way out. If you feel you need to take a shot back at someone you don't like, you're running out of time to do it. If I were a recruiting assistant knowing that I'm on my last legs and Barfy or Chatelain walked by after calling for my job, the thought of telling them to stick their head where the sun doesn't shine would probably cross my mind.
  10. I posted this in the SF Megathread w/o seeing this thread. Without sounding too much like a homer I wouldn't worry too much about Florida scooping up Frost. The current UF AD is the former Mississippi St AD so the logical (or lazy) conclusion would be that UF will take a swing at Dan Mullen. Mullen was the OC under Urban Meyer at Florida so there's a reasonable parallel there. I think Petrino ends up leaving UL (especially if Lamar Jackson goes pro) so you figure UF and/or UT will kick the tires. That doesn't take into account Chip Kelly and Mike Norvell. UF tried G5 HC approach with McElwain and it didn't work out, it wouldn't surprise me if they went with someone more established.

  12. Not enough players from naturally strong families obviously. I think the NCAA limitations on hitting during practice/practice time have gummed up the works. It isn't just a Nebraska thing, I watch quite a bit college football and poor conditioning/guys tapping out after a couple plays/etc seems to be growing in common place.
  13. That was a good read, not surprising given that Cordes wrote it. He's far and away the most talented writer at the OWH.
  14. I learned my Nebraska +6.5 wager somehow was in danger and I have a sly grin on my face after cashing my Nebraska +180 ticket. Michters Rye here we come! That...was not good football. Yet the game was oddly entertaining.
  15. Also RBs. I'd be thrilled with Montgomery or Warren.
  16. +1 to you. @Zaimejs it's a fair question. The recruiting forum has a quite a few threads dedicated to your topic with some good insight.
  17. Line is down to Purdue -4 so at least the gamblers think Nebraska at least covers! I think it gets down to 3 by game time.
  18. Saban is underpaid if you look at the overall economic impact the University of Alabama has seen since he took over at HC. As I type this I noticed USA Today just wrote a pretty good article that outlines Saban's impact just a couple days ago. Talk about good timing! https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/sec/2017/10/25/nick-saban-underpaid-more-than-11-million-season/794275001/
  19. That would be interesting. Bring in Wilson as a JUCO and go after Max Duggan from LC. Would be a full circle of life for Wilson being a one time Nebraska commit.
  20. Wrestling + Track & Field are probably the closest but ever with wrestling it's tough with Iowa, Penn State and Ohio State there. Baseball should be here but they've obviously struggled under Erstad. Depending on what your definition of dominant is, one could argue Nebraska has never had a dominant all around athletics department as the best they have ever finished in the Sears Directors Cup is 4th and that was in 96-97. Since the trophy was instituted in '93-'94 Nebraska has 4 finishes in the top 10 and none since 2000 which coincides quite a bit with Nebraska's football success. Your statement on Cook not winning 5 or 6 national titles is frankly bewildering. I mean, they're pretty hard to win and he seems to have Nebraska in the hunt just about every year.
  21. Dang St. Paul Husker is going all Keisha from New Jack City on folks. Rock a bye baby.
  22. A night game might and I mean might be worth an extra point if you're talking about a true home field advantage like LSU/Clemson/Penn State/a few other places at night. I wouldn't put Purdue in that category and certainly not to the tune of 3 points. You're correct with 3 points due to a home game, the other 3 points are largely coming from Purdue's coaching advantage.
  23. Yeah I think any potential offer for Frost will be close. Herman has a little bit stronger of a track record (as an OC at least) than Frost only because Herman has been OC at multiple schools successfully (Rice, ISU, Ohio State, Texas State) while Frost only has OC experience at Oregon. It's definitely picking nits haha.
