  1. Jesus Christ 1. Bringing this team back from the dead would add to his impressive list of miracles. 2. The depictions of his abs are evidence of his strength training knowledge. 3. Fans are already used to yelling his name during games at this point.
  2. you can't say statistics played a part in firing someone and then have their replacement do no better.Yes you can. Let's say Riley has an identical record to Pelini after his 7th year here and everything else with the games won and lost is identical (cept he needs more 10 win seasons to make up for his record last year). In that case, Riley should get more time than Pelini had, because Riley doesn't have the other negatives that Pelini had. Record being a factor doesn't mean having the same record gets him fired, because there are other factors that put Riley above Pelini. Where record being a factor matters is if Riley's is more than marginally worse than Pelini's. Then the W-L record would outweigh the positives with Riley. there is the other thing, like let's not make the same mistake twice and wait another 7 long miserable yrs if that is the way it is going. If Mike Riley somehow wins 9/10 games every year, and doesn't ever have any "Pelini" moments, he'll be here as long as he wants and I'll be happy with that. Mike Riley will probably never have any "Pelini" moments so for him to be relieved of his coaching duties, it will be about the W/L record. well that explains alot! You do remember this all started long ago about getting back to championships right? "I will not let Nebraska gravitate into mediocrity," - Steve Pederson after firing head coach Frank Solich in 2003
  3. How about changing the box to the "Suggestion Box"? That's a good siggestion
  4. Hopefully Langsdorf and Riley were paying attention though. This one could pay off huge if it sinks in with them. D@mn straight we saw a running game last night!!
  5. Looks like you slept through maybe more than just last weeks game. Looks like you might have missed entire seasons, possibly part of junior high school too. Yeah we are supposed to listen to someone who starts out with "I slept through the game this last week".
  6. I wouldn't say that much of the toxicity is caused by poor coaching, and I do think we're underestimating the effect of the "attitude problem" that exists in this program and on this team. But that doesn't absolve Riley of any blame because I'm willing to bet there would be less of this stuff going on if the Huskers were 6-3 instead of 3-6 (ouch). Basically, he's inherited a problem and hasn't done much to fix it. But to say the toxicity is caused by Riley is a bit of a stretch; the toxicity existed long before Riley's name came up for the Nebraska job. Most of the players had bought in early. Through spring ball, we heard lots of good reports. But how do you expect players to stay motivated when their coach repeatedly makes bonehead moves, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? How do you expect 2nd string OL to feel when they have no chance of seeing the field? How do you think excellent running backs feel when they have no chance of running the ball due to their pass blocking abilities? How do you think any defensive players feel when they're stuck with Banker? How do you think they feel when they know they would likely be 9-0 if Pelini was still here? I don't think the record would be much, if any, better if Bo were still here. I am tired of hearing about him. He did his damage throughout the years. He is history. It's over and done. bo is NO MORE. I personally feel like he and his 'contribution' needs to be forgotten and disregarded. We know he did some positive things but he did many negative things which for most fans and the University administration outweighed them. Move on from the Bo stuff. It is past and done. There is nothing positive left. Just damage repair and moving forward. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" Callahan 2.0 - he's a nice guy
  7. With as many bowl games as there are I thought it was pretty reasonable a bowl appearance would be attainable. That's the minimum criteria to give them the benefit of the doubt in my mind. With our schedule it's tragic to see that we won't be playing in a bowl for the first time since Callahan.
  8. It'd be a small step for some. Oh, and while you're back there, go ahead check out past records. And maybe learn gazintas using 3 and 9. That step has already been taken.
  9. In case you missed it, Riley actually did lose to Illinois. Illinois. Who's to say that Pelini wouldn't have? Harold the old man that hangs out over by Joe's crab shack told me he traveled to our Earth from a dimension where Pelini was still head coach and he said we didn't lose to Illinois. He also said before he got to this dimension he stopped off at a world where chickens evolved as the dominant species. They played football still and Nebraska's chicken team did not lose to Illinois.
  10. If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry xmas. Here's one that's a lot more believable: If Pelini were still here we would be 7-0. The only thing that kept games close this year was our players. The poor coaching decisions are so obvious you have to be blind to not see them. Riley won't be turning any team into a top 15 team. I'm sorry. He and his staff are simply in over their heads. They are sub-mediocre coaches. There is no switch that can be flipped to suddenly make them understand how to properly coach football. Bo lost his first game to Northwestern, too. Bo also lost to Wisconsin by about 120 points (including one to a 7 and god damn 6 Wisconsin team). Bo would most certainly not be 7-0 if he were here. Probably better than 3-5, but definitely not 7-0. Also, if Bo were still here we'd be running the same system and there'd be less of these "growing pains". But seriously, why the f#*k do we give a single sh#t about Pelini? "Growing pains" is a nice way to say sucking @$$
  11. We have yet to play an opponent of the caliber that dominated Pelini.
