We did just enough to win.  And that's okay.  Sometimes.

  2. @GSG if you get evacuated, you can watch the game(s) at my place.

That fire is out of control. I see they’re evacuated right up to the west side of Horsetooth. Getting close to Estes and the west side of Loveland. Another day like today and I’ll have to be concerned.

Haha! I appreciate the offer @JJ Husker! I'm hoping it clears up soon. Today was just gross

  3. @GSG You might wanna check your smoker. It’s drifting way over here even.

It was just this sickly orange yellow color all day here. I guess the good thing is I couldn’t really smell it. Usually whenever it’s been this bad it’s almost hard to breathe. Must be up fairly high. Might get some pretty cool sunsets though.

There was a cool sunset on Friday evening, due to all the smoke in the air over the mountains.  Was golfing on Saturday and a friend commented that it was snowing while on the course, with some ash falling from the sky.  Just an eerie smell of smoke in the air all afternoon.

    4. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

Yeah, it's a bit strange. You can see some of the most beautiful sunsets all because of terrible wildfires. I've only faintly noticed the smell from time to time but the poor air quality really bothers my wife.

  4. @Saunders Sorry if your arm is sore after Saturday  but it was good to meet you.

I went and looked at these last year in Vegas.  Some of the worst cuts i've ever seen and literally took 3 to feed just me.  They were perfect sized for the 2 and 3 year old though.

  11. A bit strange being back in Huskerland. I forgot the year round preoccupation of the media with Husker football. I mean I knew it still existed but I just really hadn’t experienced it firsthand without actively searching for it here on HB.

Plus, it helps the college kids that ride bikes or walk to campus immensely. And the Haymarket...they've done a hell of a job with it, and it keeps getting better.

Good point VV. Traffic has all but ceased on 16th, 17th and Vine streets.

    1. ZRod

      ZRod

He made mistakes, but I don't agree with the assessment that it's all on him. Their we're guys no giving effort out there. Jogging in pursuit all day. Not staying home multiple times on the back end. Your QB not having any touch on the ball and forcing passes early on.

    2. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

Then he should bench their a$$. I saw nothing in the way of changing personnel or adjusting or coming up with anything that would work. It was Purf#ckingDue....

    3. ZRod

      ZRod

He tried to run it and pass it on short yardage plays, we didn't have a lot of success either way. Martinez missed some open throws. We would have success up the middle then they would stuff it. We pushed the edge then they would catch us. Our guys aren't consistent play to play on offense and it's killing us.

Guys are tackling with their heads downs, and going for arm tackles. Over pursing and guessing. Those issues are coaching and discipline. Honestly giving up a 96 yard drive to Purdue, and then an 82 yard drive to lose it is worse than anything our offense did today. That's T I R B L E.

My guess is that Becky turned them down if they even offered it. I think she'll be better off in the long run staying in the NBA. Just bustin' CSU's chops because of all the talk here a couple weeks ago.

    3. HuskerNBigD

      HuskerNBigD

All the talk here by people not in the know....

    4. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

Maybe we could get Becky to coach in Lincoln?

I mean, it's not like we could 'not' get into the NCAA Tournament any more than we have lately, right? And frankly, she's got NBA chops that the kids looking to go to the next level would love.

Find some great assistant coach talent to bolster her, and we'd be a hell of a story, and possibly a hell of a program down the road.

@Redux yes we can do that, but only for one half.

  15. Any worthy charities in Lincoln that would have a good use for Nebraska football tickets? I'm thinking one that would take disadvantaged kids to a game or something like that.

@MLB 51 From what I've seen with stain is you can build more depth of color, do veins etc. I want to make it look like granite or natural stone. Got 5 different stain colors. Going to put some mica flakes in the epoxy, do a few dark veins. Imma go crazy.

@Comfortably Numb, I highly recommend doing some trial runs/tests on scrap concrete. Sometimes the big box stores will have some broken blocks they'll give you.

Use this website to preorder your parking pass for a downtown/haymarket garage so you don't get left out not getting there fast enough... https://www.lincoln.ne.gov/aspx/city/eventprk/default.aspx?v=1

Also, rates are "jacked" by Lincoln standards - $15-$25.  But that is cheap by big city standards.

    4. Enhance

      Enhance

@JJ Husker I'm almost positive all downtown garages have fixed rates for gamedays and nowadays that's probably in the realm of $20. Even if you get lucky with a metered spot on O Street or something, you're technically supposed to go pay for a window cling that's like $10.

  19. Are you guys using the mobile version or desktop version on your phones? Sure the ads are annoying, especially the one top right that sticks when you scroll, but it is still very usable with the desktop version.

I'm desktop at work and mobile the rest of the time.  The desk top version has no problems I've notice.  However, recently the ads on the mobile site are taking up the entire screen...literally and making it unusable.

Ahhh yes...the summer back home after freshman year.  I did that...then it was the last time I ever went home for the summer.  Even though Lincoln is a ghost town from May-First week of August it was still more fun than being at home.

Yes but it's Soooo good. I get a hankering for Menudo on the weekends when it's a little chilly out. I don't generally like it otherwise. The Barbacoa is just a nice change from usual breakfast fare. We have a little Mexican bakery that does both excellent. And their fresh made tortillas are killer.
