It makes sense during the era of the "3 yards and a cloud of dust".  When the fans wore ties and dress shoes to games, and the cheerleaders were swell.  When 3rd and 4 seemed like a mile, and popcorn sold for a dollar.  These days a safety should be six points like a touchdown.

If it was hockey, the refs (and opponents) would cure him of that crap. I hate divers. Play the game right or GTFO.

The worst part about college officiating is that the refs seem to reward the flopping and call way to many charges, especially when the defender comes from the weak side.  It’s gotten way out of hand, and doesn’t reward athleticism on the court.

Huskermax is a horrible site. Dinosaur interface & unusable on mobile. Becoming similar to this site. Get it fixed Max. Or else.

@JJ Husker I wouldn't go as far as to say it's intentional. I would say there is a lot of bias involved. a) "Nebraska is bad so they need to hold" or "Nebraska is bad so that play would have gotten a lot of yards regardless" may be going through the referees' subconscious. b) There are probably more people that dislike Nebraska than dislike the other bad teams, since Nebraska was great once. If I had to guess I bet you Northwestern doesn't get called for holding as much because they're the cute underdog team. So there is more potential for subconscious bias there.

I wonder what kind of conversations go on behind the scenes with the officials when something like this comes out in the media.

In Vegas, you call and schedule and appointment, you get a message via text and hour before your number is called, then 30 mins, 15 mins and 5 mins. You sit around in the last 15 mins for another hour and wait for your number gets called while you continue to get texts telling you it's 5 mins until you're called, then all of a sudden it's 15 mins, 30 mins and then it fluctuates back and forth.  I hate the DMV with a passion.

@GSG For title work, license plates etc. we go to the Weld County Clerk and Recorder. They do have appointment times since Covid started. I had to register and license a trailer recently and it was quick and painless. Usually you can plan on wasting an hour plus there without an appt. I don't know what the DMV is doing currently other than obviously not making sure people can actually safely operate a vehicle. We've been renewing our driver's licenses online and that works okay but God help you if you have to go there in person.

I've only had to visit the DMV once since I moved to Colorado - when I first moved here almost 20 years ago. All my renews have been online.

And Illinois covers by 34 points...

I hear your frustration.  But glad we got the games because otherwise we would know nothing and be like having our heads in the sand.  Right now we know a lot.  Completely sucks but we know quite a bit.

Thanks guys. It's a tough one. He was a neighbor when we were just young kids and went to school and played sports with him all the way through HS. First one of our tight knit HS group to fall. I feel particularly bad for his wife and family. 57/58 is just too young and it hits too close to home.

He was working that overhand right the whole fight. If Brook didn't just happen to step into the one that damaged him his eye would have been swollen shut before the end of the night. That was his weakness and Bud saw it early.

The first fight, the aussie got robbed.  Bud did well but prior to that it was a pretty even fight, then he caught him when he stepped in.  Enjoyed the fight.

I would love to see Bud fight the winner of Spence vs Garcia.

Because of this, and IF they play bowl games, I have to think we will play ten games this year.  With the size of our fan base and how many will watch on TV, I have to think someone would invite us.....unless we have a disastrous season.

@ZRod I don't think it's the smartest thing to do, but then I think they should have had whatever meeting they had with whatever doctors convinced them to play a couple of weeks ago, too. This rapid-testing they're using has been available for more than a month.

I guess I understand (not accept) the delayed meeting but to finally have the meeting, approve the season, and then set it for 6 weeks out. Why, why was the 5.5+ week delay necessary?

My theory is twofold. They're arrogant and stubborn and wanted it to look more like what they had determined previously. And number 2, more arrogance and stubbornness, they're secretly hoping they can once again cancel by that later date, to validate their earlier decision. Why else wait more than 2 or 3 weeks to get it going? Am I failing to see something?

@knapplc I've kind of moved more towards it's probably ok to play ball (some what selfishly, but sports can be done safely). I don't think the crowds are a good idea because people are stupid and don't follow rules.

But really the B1G screwed the pooch on this and no matter what they do they look like bumbling idiots. No leadership and no clear direction after an entire summer to make a plan, or set some requirements before play could happen. From supposedly one of the more accademic power 5 conferences.

I have more basil than I know what to do with. We've made bruschetta, marinara, spaghetti sauce, salads, bourbon lemonades with basil, you name it! I'd make strawberry basil jam if I knew how to make jam.

Also made pico, fried potatoes with jalapenos, omelets with jalapenos, bruschetta with a jalapeno, tacos with fresh sliced peños. 

The only thing I haven't finished using is that damn basil.

At least people flexing about salsa numbers have a skill.

Has anyone contacted @Roxy15? She might be buried under salsa by now!

@GSG I couldn't believe nobody had already posted that status. My son texted me and I got on HB and nada except a few comments on his profile in recruiting. How far we've (HB) fallen.

It was just this sickly orange yellow color all day here. I guess the good thing is I couldn’t really smell it. Usually whenever it’s been this bad it’s almost hard to breathe. Must be up fairly high. Might get some pretty cool sunsets though.

There was a cool sunset on Friday evening, due to all the smoke in the air over the mountains.  Was golfing on Saturday and a friend commented that it was snowing while on the course, with some ash falling from the sky.  Just an eerie smell of smoke in the air all afternoon.

Yeah, it's a bit strange. You can see some of the most beautiful sunsets all because of terrible wildfires. I've only faintly noticed the smell from time to time but the poor air quality really bothers my wife. 

Funny how that works. I blame it on 2020.
