  1. I didn't see anything questionable towards the end. They may have received one pretty tick tacky PI call early in the game but other than that it was well officiated. I saw quite a few holds they got away with and one blatant, critical PI call they were not flagged on. They've got nothing to complain about.
  2. It's so refreshing to see the coach remain calm and collected in critical situations. It's paying huge dividends with the players not giving up and keeping their composure. This team won't quit and that is a huge testament to the coaches. I'm not going to go overboard though, Langs and Banker have to get a bit better at recognizing what is working and go that direction a bit more. It was a great win but I felt it could've been a little surer thing with a tad more rushing and more blitzing. But maybe those things worked as well as they did because we didn't over utilize them...IDK. Maybe I'm just gun shy from previous years. Probably take a few more like this before I don't expect things to go wrong at the last minute.
  3. Almost forgot how nice it is to come out on the right side of a close game like that. Not sure my heart can take too many of these.

  4. I learned that Langs can call just enough runs to win a game. I learned Banker can bring just enough extra pressure to win a game. I learned that I still don't understand why both of them don't do more of those things. I learned that winning is possible when you don't kill yourself with penalties, turnovers, and bad clock management. Things are looking up. Good, much needed W.
  5. Words; We want to throw the ball. Actions; Must. Throw. Ball.
  6. Pretty sure Langs ran home for halftime....but he's back now.
  7. Turned out great but I am going to have a coronary if the plan is to have TA make more touch passes.
  8. What happened to "we want to run the ball"? Good plan Langs, try to get cute with TA slinging it. Wtf.
  9. Jeebus f'n krist. Catch the ball. Hold on to the ball.
  10. Guise, I hate to say it but the B1G West is ours for the taking. No excuses, git r done.

Are we completely sure NU can beat NDSU, though?

Whisky having trouble with the Frankies, Iowa lost to NDSU. We need to take care of business.

  11. They're a lot more tame than their usual but I kind of like them. Should look good on the field with our home reds.
  12. We ask for a chance that's fair.
  13. I recruited a Czech kicker, and during the eye exam, when asked to read the bottom line, the kicker replied, Read it? I know him. (Woody Hayes) Here’s a twenty, bury two. (Bear Bryant after being asked to contribute ten dollars to help bury a sportswriter) Oh, we played about like three tons of buzzard puke this afternoon. (Spike Dykes of Texas Tech) Most players don't mind drug testing once they realize they don't have to study for it. (Mack Brown) There are two kinds of people in the world, Notre Dame lovers and Notre Dame haters. And, quite frankly, they're both a pain in the ass. (former Notre Dame coach Dan Devine)
  14. "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that's first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win. Every time a football player goes to ply his trade he's got to play from the ground up - from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That's O.K. You've got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you've got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second. Running a football team is no different than running any other kind of organization - an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win - to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is. It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there - to compete. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules - but to win. And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat. I don't say these things because I believe in the ‘brute' nature of men or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour -- his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear -- is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious." - Coach Vincent T. Lombardi Sorry, I love me some Lombardi.
  15. “Winning is a habit. Watch your thoughts, they become your beliefs. Watch your beliefs, they become your words. Watch your words, they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character.” “Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” “Winning is not a sometime thing, it is an all the time thing. You don’t do things right once in a while…you do them right all the time.” “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” "Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is" “….I firmly believe that any man’s finest hours – his greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear – is that moment when he has worked his heart out in good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” All Vince Lombardi
  16. And just think....our very own LOMS got kicked out of that place.
  17. I agree with you on CU. In fact so do a lot of other people because the line has dropped to 19. Have to disagree on Oklahoma. I thought they looked horrible again Houston and tOSU is 18-0 on the road under Urban. I think they'll handle OU easily. (But I hope I'm wrong)
  18. Guise, I gotta know, is this a game that I should put out my inflatable Lil Red in the front yard?

Only if you want me to drive over 200 miles to Macho Man elbow drop that sumbitch from your roof. You provide the ladder.

  19. My house on gameday; By the numbers 5 Husker households on my cul de sac in Colorado. 1 wife that knows not to bother me during the game 1 or 2 kids that couldn't care less 1 next door Ohio State fan that's getting pretty insufferable. 3 refrigerators stocked with plenty of beer
  20. Defensive success? Holding Oregon to fewer points than we score. I'll put it about 35. And keeping Freeman under 100 yds.....and not getting torched through the air repeatedly.
