  1. Yeah, that was a freak accident. Look at the 0:57 point. No way Suh could have sat down on Gabbert's ankle like that on purpose while making a tackle. There is nothing dirty about that play. I hate when people assume the player with their obstructed views is able to see what is going on in real time like a fan looking at a replay in slow motion. Suh is a physical freak, but his drive and motivation on top of that is what drops your jaw open. The defense to the spitting seems to be "I think Daniel might be making that up, because nobody would do something like that on purpose." That story is so old it really doesn't matter, but that defense makes me chuckle in retrospect after all the leg stomps, etc... Suh has made lots of mistakes in the NFL, and does the kind of stuff that makes you sick. Former BYU player Ziggy Ansah and ex teammate on the Lions said he was an amazing teammate who went out his way to teach and mentor. Ziggy said Suh put everything he had into winning. He works so hard on every play. Every time he does something really wrong I hate him for a few weeks, but I find my respecting his game and then without noticing it, I'm flat out rooting for him to succeed a couple weeks after that. When a guy puts his heart into playing the way Suh does, it's hard for me not to root for him, but you just hope he will cut out the other crap!
  2. His name is Kyle Van Noy. He was a 5 star recruit and plays for the Detroit Lions. He actually was kicked off the team for the whole year before he was allowed to play. He had scholly offers to about 20 p-5 schools that he could have chosen to go to instead and not have had to serve the 1 year suspension (Underage drinking was the violation by the way). He went on to be a very upstanding guy and probably did more good in the community than any other BYU player in a long time. He has a lot of foundations he runs here and although he lives in Detroit is very involved in the community in Provo. This is a terrible example. I urge you guys to read that book its awesome. I get it we have had some terrible incidents lately. The punch was completely ridiculous and he should have been suspended for it. This story big red is referring to is nothing but a very uplifting story and you are completely off about punishment and everything else involved with it. We have a bit of an image problem right now that I hope gets turned around. I feel bad about the TE incident. I don't think it was intentional. I think he didn't know it he had the ball or not. Should have been flagged but I don't think it was intentional. Other than that I think the game was pretty well fought and there is some major grasping at straws on this topic. Hope you guys are doing well in Lincoln. We as a fanbase really believe you guys for the most part are some of the classiest fans we've met. We have a ways to go in that dept and I will be cheering for you anytime we see them on TV. There is definately some denial going on within the BYU fanbase if they think there is nothing wrong with what is happening with your team. Incidents in 3 straight games is more than grasping at straws. Ask what you would think if those plays were reversed and it was happening to your guys instead. The fight, the late hit, and the nut punch were all bad. They need to be fixed. Everything else in this thread I have seen is garbage, but you guys in this thread seem to enjoy working yourselves into a lather. Really, most of the stuff in this thread is pure garbage and lots of it should make you uncomfortable, or flat out embarrassed. Lots of stuff in this thread is because the posters don't know about football. There are lots of plain old lies and wild speculation presented as fact in here as well. (For example the "gator roll". Watch some videos about tackling lol. You think a player without momentum is supposed to just hold on? lol. BYU is racist, sure..... it's a team of all white guys from Mississippi burning. "Dirty low tackling.... again, lol at how dumb that is. The "dirty" injury of your punter- people discredited that, yet people kept posting it as fact anyway. BYU did not suspend anyone important. Bronco won't punish his players. And on, and on, and on. Sweet echo chamber you are building here though.) Mark Stoddard, is that you? Did you shoot that snot rocket on that Utah football in the store? So, since we don't watch as much football as you do, educate us: Is this football? https://vine.co/v/OXPd6nUj2It Is this football? https://vine.co/v/OXtT35F2IFA Is this football? (Watch until after the hit, the small clip on Reddit doesn't do it justice) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoOU5N2PCoM?t=32m44s Is this football? https://vine.co/v/eFgPwr2tv5B Then you have the blatant nut punch that everybody saw (which is apparently enough punishment). Those all occurred in the last 3 games. Well the "Bronco won't punish his players" thing is sort of true and it seems he's comfortable toeing the line as much as possible to make sure BYU is competitive in all their games. Otherwise he would've suspended your center for the opening game as well as another player that wound up seeing playing time. No way could he not suspend Kai Nacua because then everyone would think he's an idiot, even your own fans, but if it's marginal, ehhh the exposure is punishment enough, everyone knows he made a mistake, yada yada bullsh#t yada. If justice exists, BYU won't win another game this year. They've gotten lucky enough winning their first two. Is this football? https://vine.co/v/eTEpM2WQYid You are correct there is alot of embarassing and uncomfortable stuff in this thread. I've seen multiple videos of it. LOL. You want to apologize? Or are you going to double down? Your video applies if you have a player wrapped up around the waist or maybe lower around both legs. That's called good tackling. Alligator rolling a single leg is something else. The only mitigating thing about what the BYU player did is that he didn't appear to apply enough pressure to severely twist the leg. Edit: cg_8 happened to have a video in another thread showing Ameer (#8) getting tackled using this technique. He wrapped at the waist. He had more momentum than the ball carrier, Good tackle. It's ok to put your hemet at the side of the thigh pad and wrap at the knees too. If you ever end up with one leg, this is football and you are coached to do just what happened in the play in the Nebraska game.
  3. i can't help you guys to see....you might have to ask the lord to help you out. fwiw...we meant it when we said grats on the win. Also fwiw...we are not saying we would have won the game if you hadn't played dirty. we are not even talking about you playing dirty only against us. We are talking about what we see you guys doing right now in game after game....and it is dirty. sorry that your eyes are closed to it. Go on and cheer for the dirty hits and enjoy your season. your team is good and will do well this year. But if you continue to play that style of football don't get your panties in a bunch if people talk about your teams dirty tactics. I think that's fair. The nut punch type stuff has to stop. It is a black eye for the program. The only reason I started giving you guys a hard time is the people who were generalizing that the whole game plan and style is dirty. That's bogus. You have a few plays that are bad and lots of football idiots making claims on topics they don't understand. The gator roll and low tackle discussions are good examples of that. You guys may have missed some of the posts in this thread, but some people on here are making some wild claims. Lot's of people are saying stuff that is reasonable as well.
  4. That's all that needs to be said. When you can acknowledge wrong, but in the same breath advocate for clandestine "internal" punishment that is not and will not be verified, you're very clearly more interested in brushing things under the rug than fixing the problems on your team. All that I needed to see as well. You guys bite your tongue when nasty lies are said and just wait for "winning" points. When something gets called out, there is just silence when it's clearly wrong. SMH. You guys should be better than this all around. Have fun waiting for this weeks vines. Keep throwing some spaghetti at the wall in this thread. And whatever you do, when when of your fellow Husker fans posts another lie, don't correct it. It might kill the mood in here and not tell the story you are looking for. ECHO ECHO ECHO ECHO echo echo echo

By the way, here is my real answer: Praetor,#20 with the low hit, was injured last week, and will be suspended this week against UCLA. The player in the brawl vine's above, Kai Nacua, did a ton of community service and was suspended week 1, and he was our best DB with 3 picks against Boise State. Nice to see every play gets turned into a vine now. There was a flag on the play for roughing the passer. Not the worst thing in the world. It was a dumb play that extended a drive and almost lost BYU the game. The nut punch wasn't good, but I'm glad he wasn't suspended for it. The play was reviewed and internal suspensions were deemed fine by that ref association that is in charge of disciplining independent teams.

  7. Haha. So, if I find 3 lies, false accusations, or unsubstantiated claims presented as fact on this thread, Nebraska fans are uneducated fans, or lack integrity?

  9. Yeah, it looked to me that BYU was leg hunting on many of their tackles. Not sure if that's how they are coached to tackle or what. What the hell are you guys watching in place of football? Are you that big a bunch of Nancies that you now think low tackles are dirty? They're part of the f'ing game and always have been. BYU does it, Nebraska does it, everyone does it. There's nothing dirty about a low tackle. Fir hell's sake, your guys made an almost identical tackle on our #11 on the first play after you downed the punt on our 1-yard line. Preator should have been flagged, but it's arguable whether he knew the receiver had the ball or not. It was in bounds (if you've argued it wasn't, see an optometrist), and it wasn't dirty. Your guys do are same thing. Are your guys dirty players? LOL, I love it when you called us "Nancies". However, the play was dirty. The ball was well past Sutton, on the ground, and Preator dove at the back of Sutton's legs with his shoulders. That is not a "low tackle" that is a cheap shot. Same f'ing tackle. Watch the film. By the way, some of you guys laughed when I brought up our Elite 11 freshman backup QB. One game against a patchwork defensive backfield didn't leave me impressed. He connected on a fluke play and had another play where a 14 ft. tall receiver made a pretty ridiculous jumping catch. Is he a good recruit? Yes. Could he be a great player? Yes. But, there's nothing else to say about him at this point. BYU is probably going to lose anywhere from 4-6 games this year without Hill. Losing a Sr. possible Heisman trophy candidate for a true freshman who was eating rice and beans and teaching religion 3 months ago isn't ideal. There will be some ugly freshman mistakes this season for sure. Having a front loaded schedule won't help matters either. Mangum seemed to have the kind of confidence to shake off mistakes and keep his head in the game. He did not shrink from pressure and I love that in a QB. I'm not willing to give up on the year yet, but history is certainly on your side with that prediction.
  10. Haha. This thread is just going to start get stupid now. You can just feel it sometimes. At least one "BYU fan" here is a troll and not a BYU fan at all.
  11. So, like when we lost our NT on an uncalled chop block by one of your linemen and RB, whi hit him square in the side of the knee? I understand why you're upset, but these things happen on both sides. And low tackles downfield are far from illegal. I guess tackling at the legs from behind when he clearly saw that Sutton didn't catch the ball was my problem. Yeah, it was a dirty hit and he did exactly what he set out to do: get a cheap shot hit in. I don't recall the Huskers doing that to your NT, but maybe I missed it. Nothing to defend on hit on Sutton. I think So, like when we lost our NT on an uncalled chop block by one of your linemen and RB, whi hit him square in the side of the knee? I understand why you're upset, but these things happen on both sides. And low tackles downfield are far from illegal. Are you trying to defend the hit on Sutton? AggyAndee? That really is you? That wasn't football. I think it was a mistake, but intentions don't really matter when it's that late and at a guys knees.
  12. I think some of you missed what happened to the punter. It looked bad at full speed and the one replay I remember they showed during the game did not even really catch it very well. This was posted earlier in the thread, but without comment. Fans were booing this like crazy because it looked bad. 67 was trying to make a play and threw a player under your punters legs. I don't think he breathes on the punter without that push. https://vine.co/v/eT9gj6u6FBh The one play by Praetor (our #20) on your TE was horrible, but it wasn't a dirty game. When most of us in this thread played ball, only little guys were taught to go low. The big Ronnie Lott style face mask to face mask tackles that earned you helmet stickers back in the day just give you flags today. DBs are getting coached to go low more often now. You don't get flagged for targeting if the receiver drops his head before contact that way. Knees are going to be the unintended price for saving brains. Your guys were tackling low in the game too. It's the new way football is going to be played. BYU seems to be transitioning to low tackles this year, but I think they are a couple years behind and not very good at it yet. I think they will throw the flag 100 times in a game if 2 receivers line up off the line when only 1 is supposed to. I took those penalties to be from the 1st game of the season with a new system. Some of those penalties hurt. I wish ESPN would show us on the screen quickly where the penalty was, but it's a big leap to assume the refs were blowing those calls. Those will get cleaned up. There were a lot of good things in that game for Nebraska and small stuff that can be cleaned up are good signs for things to come in my opinion. I yelled at my TV and saw arms wrapping around BYU's linemen too. I did not notice it going the other way too, but I'm sure it was. Anyway, I'm just throwing in my $.02. I thought it was a good game.
  13. The Preator thing was ugly and there isn't a good excuse. That should have been a flag. I think he hurt himself with poor tackling later too. The kid seemed to get himself to the right spots, but he needs to learn how to tackle and how stay away from other players after a play is over. Sorry to see the Nebraska kid got hurt from bad play by a BYU guy. The rest of this thread seems like stuff you say after a game when you are still sad. That's natural and the sign of invested fans. It was the kind of game that both teams did enough to win, but someone had to lose.
  14. I hated seeing the late hit on your tight end, Sutton, and I hope he is ok. Tommy Armstrong seems to have the potential to be a world beater. When he is on, it is going to be really tough for anyone to slow that offense down. Nebraska looked unstoppable in the 1st quarter and 2nd half. If the 1st game type stuff gets cleaned up, I think you guys might be in for a good year. Penalties seemed to kill the momentum a few times. Lot's of guys went down tonight. I hope the rest of the injury news is good and your guys are all back on the field soon. Good luck the rest of the way!
  15. That story reflects really well on Riley. Maybe he wasn't aware of the issues surrounding sexual assault back in the day, but he is clearly learned from a sad story and he clearly want's his guys to understand today. It's great that he stayed in touch with the other young woman and I am sure having her speak will be a powerful learning experience for the current players. I think society as a whole has learned more about sexual assault since the timeframe of the alleged assault and it sounds like Riley is one of the good guys increasing awareness.
