  1. I was amazed when MR was hired, but I hoped we would have the highest paid, and best assistants, in CFB. The I watched as the assistant coaches were hired ... OSU assistant ... OSU assistant ... etc. I agree with your assessment of our AD. Eichorst should be fired first thing Monday morning. Fire MR Tuesday and start the search for a new HC I'm sure we'll have an easy time finding a new coach after we fired this one so quickly. Who wouldn't want to come here?
  2. This is more embarrassing then the UW/UCLA stuff. No way this is more embarrassing than the UW losses. No way at all. It hurts, but most people around the country probably don't think much about us anyway.
  3. Then I guess you'd be wrong. Ultimately, it doesn't matter though anyway.
  4. Bad call to pass on the last third down. But they went for the kill shot- don't know that I'd call that nutless.
  5. Agreed. Our lack of pressure on the QB has been very disappointing so far and hasn't helped us out in coverage. We can't get pressure with four, but we can't ever seem to actually make it work when we blitz either. I was excited this year for some attacking defense, but for whatever reason whenever we dial up a blitz nothing much seems to happen. Maybe somebody who knows a bit more about scheme could shed some light on this.
  6. The refs seemed to be quite particular about formations. I don't think I've ever seen so many called in a game before and on both sides too. That's what people said after the BYU game as well but they were all legit penalties - against both teams. I know on of our illegal formation penalties was completely legit. We had trips to the bottom of the screen and they were confused about how to line up. I saw it before the snap. One other time they called Gates for not being on the line. That can maybe be argued to be somewhat nit-picky as tackles are often pushing the limits but it's fairly common to have that called once or twice per game. Not trying to make an excuse for them. More just an observation that the refs weren't going to let that stuff slide.
  7. This is funny. Yeah, I'm sure the coaches are telling him to throw off his back foot and to not go past his first read. Must be coaching. Lol. The results don't lie. Neither does the eye test. Tommy is fighter and warrior. He has heart for miles and I love him for it. However, his decision making and technique isn't there. These coaches either need to establish the run game or change to a QB that can go through progression. Yeah, didn't y'all know? Darlington definitely would have won the game for us! Just as easy as putting in the 3rd string quarterback.
  8. He had 4 tonight. I know we had 3 too many men in the backfield, and at least 2 12 men on the field.4, for a senior captain...ouch. Of course no comparison, but Will Shields played his last 9 year in the Pros with ONE penalty...ONE. Well coached teams dont have that many penalties. I agree well-coached teams have less penalties, but it is also hard to break certain habits. From what I've heard, MR's teams have had many penalties in the past. It can also be a sign of an aggressive team, but ours tonight we're not aggressive penalties. Hopefully he can fix all these illegal formation, and other penalties before the ball is snapped. Those are coachable and need to be fixed soon. I was disappointed in the number of penalties as well. However, the refs seemed to be real sticklers for proper formations compared to usual.
  9. 21-45 with 3 picks is a terrible day despite 4 TDs Don't forget how many passes were dropped, and of the picks was a pure fluke

  11. More air on that ball it's a TD. Terrible penalty by Lewis though
  12. I suppose we should have just ran the ball at the end of the game... I'm sure we could have gotten back into the game that way
  13. Not sure he qualifies as a general, maybe a private first class. Zero game experience.Coach's kid. Need decision making before play makingI'm sure he can command the receivers to start catching the ball... We need a change. Tommy has already missed too many check downs. He is staring down the primary. I do recall some of those as well, particularly one time when he should have checked down to Newby. However, I don't think that's what's keeping us out of the ball game.

  15. Cross inside? Yes. Cross outside? No. Not sure Newby would have fared much better. They were in the backfield pretty quickly.
  16. The run game wasnt working well in the first half so they went with what worked. I thought we passed a little too much today but you cant fault the play call when they went with what was working The same Stanford that lost today to Northwestern? I agree that in the first half the run just wasn't there. It was evident that we miss Abdullah, who had that knack for getting the most out of a play. I think our OL needs a bit more experience before we can completely rely on the run. Teams lose sometimes. How many BCS games have they been in the past few years? How about Wisconsin? Alabama same offense, though they are different beast. USC same thing during their run. I agree, they do. In fact, our happened to lose today. However, I typically don't like these sorts of arguments of "well... but this particular team lost", so I probably shouldn't have used it. Honestly, I was hoping that our early pass game was going to set up the run, and was hoping to see more of it. It didn't seem to work in the first half, so I don't think it was necessarily wrong to go away from it. Ultimately, I don't think it was passing the ball that lost the game.

  18. Remind us who brad kayak is. What position does he play? I think it's a travel website. Probably can get you a good deal on Miami home game tickets.
  19. I agree. I'm not the biggest TA fan, but he had people coming at him throughout the game. Serious OL issues. The question is: were the issues a result of BYU blitz packages and our OL's inexperience as a group, or is the OL just not as good as we'd like. I didn't realize how inexperienced our OL is. Outside of Lewis (who isn't bad, but is always good for a penalty and complete whiffs each game), I believe the most starts any of them had before today was 2. I was hoping they would look a little better, but hopefully they can get it figured out in the next few games.
  20. Going into the game today I think I was more worried about losing because of all of the Pelini talk we're going to hear than anything. There were a lot of negatives- I'm partly convinced we threw the ball that much because we can't count on the run game. However, I think it would be misguided to believe a Bo Pelini team would have done any better. I'm sure we would have lost by more than a Hail Mary. Poor tackling would have made sure of that.
