  1. The only change that could occur in my opinion is an AD change. SE will not fire Riley this year. If the AD is fired, an interim AD will not fire Riley. Firing an AD and coach would be program suicide for recruiting. Mike Riley is recruiting suicide. We would not lose very much this recruiting class if our recruits decided to up and leave....and I doubt many, besides maybe POB that are coming to Nebraska because of the coaching staff.
  2. Scott Frost. He's poached Nebraska recruit. He gets the culture. He could recruit here. He would be instant excitement to program. I see the players buying into this program fast. He brings the "cool" factor for recruits and players being from the Oregon offense. His networks would be TO and Chip Kelly. If Frost was named Nebraska head coach after the Iowa game I would be so excited for the following year. I think Frost is one of few coaches who would come to Nebraska considering the circumstances. Might be the only guy we could get too. Give the kid a chance..
  3. how embarassing you even have to say this regarding your coach 9 games into his first season. Don't you think that is a bit alarming????????? Maybe a sign that you made a terrible hire. No balls. Would have been much more respectable had he admitted to his mistake and owned up to it.
  4. Scott Frost stole a QB recruit from us....Scott Frost would i think bring in some great recruits to Nebraska. he gets Nebraska, he is young to where the kids like him, he is coming from Oregon a "cool" school...dude would also have TO and Chip kellly to consult to....wow what a network! Bring in Frost, he's the only one capable and probably willing to step into this mess.
  5. If he doesn't step down and walk away after this season knowing Nebraska is NOT for him, then I will be greatly disappointed.
  6. the rumblings have begun. This thing is cleaned up after the Iowa game. Echorst will be fired any day now... Riley will be fired after the Iowa game. Nebraska is on the market late November.
  7. The guy who made that program, built it to power house realized it was time to step down. Major respect to him. That is HIS program, and he even has the dignity to step down when he realizes it's time. Wonder if Riley will do the same, given he has absolutely no connections to this program or state.
  8. Herman coming to Nebraska is a pipe dream at this point. Given his hot name and all the major jobs opened up right now, I cant see him at Nebraska...Especially when Nebraska's job isn't technically open...yet...
  9. I will always root for Nebraska, I will always support the program. I will root for the players, not these coaches. I applaud guys like Westerkamp, Gangwish and all who continue to do their best not only trying to do their best on the field, but taking it upon themselves to try to keep this fan base together. That is a HUGE task for guys who already have enough on their plate. The fan base might be divided now, between those who want Riley gone now and those who want to give Riley time. Either way, Husker football means a lot to all of us, and we are all in this together. We all want the same results, just maybe in different ways.
  10. I honestly wonder what Eichorst is thinking right now? Does he realize he is an epic failure? I mean, a millionaire hiring another millionaire. Both millionaires are failing miserably at their jobs. How in the world do they continue to keep their jobs? Eichorst had any sort of decency he would admit the bad hrie and move on. That would be respectable. If he continues to try and hide and let this things continue he continues to look like a epic failure. It is a sad sad day when I actually have sympathy for Bill Callahan.
  11. wish FTW would continue to post in this thread with updates. It's about the only thing that gives me hope on this season.
  12. Riley is the rebound guy..we lost a 9 win coach, that I agree had to go, and hired a guy who cant even beat the dwellers of the conference...This sets up perfectly for the next coach who comes in. instant success as you cant do worse than what Riley has done. Whoever the next coach is, he will be looked as a saving grace and breath of fresh air.
  13. Pretty well written couple paragraphs. Nothing wrong with publically admitting a bad hire and moving on. Rebuild now or rebuild in 3 years, which is better?
  14. And Frost is probably one of the few coaches willing to come into this situation... I would also be more willingy to stick out rough years with a young Frost than an experienced older coach.
  15. As quickly as I can I click on local media outlets and this board anxiously awaiting to see the title or thread that announces the firing of one of these pieces and the dominoes start to fall.
  16. the next regime will immediately be a breath of fresh air. Hopefully it is the correct hires and its some people who understand Nebraska and its culture.
  17. I dont think Riley needs one. Apparently he had a premonition about this gig not lasting long b/c hes still living at the Embassy. His first good decision all year.
  18. So happy to finally see local media start calling everyone out. Lets get this thing going. I'll start a gofundme page asking for donations to rent UHAUL trucks for Riley and Echorst.
  19. longer he sticks around the longer the rebuild process is when he is gone. It looked like he had lost the team today, didn't see much energy from players. We lost to Purdue. Admit the mistake of a hire, go seperate ways.
  20. Can you imagine if you got paid millions at your job and just crapped the bed for 9 weeks? How would you be able to keep your job?
  21. I don't even get the feeling he is even in the least bit trying to get some big name recruits. Seriously, all I am asking for is to put some effort forward and try to get a big time player. Even his predecessor at Oregon State was brining 4 star recruits onto visits. Sure those kids are probably never going to commit to Oregon State, but at least Andersen at OSU is trying. Worth a shot. Riley is just too ho hum about it all.
