  1. Ok - isn't it the first of it's kind is my point?  I think there will be great support for an aggressive defense that will help the accused.  And I think that it will likely be done by talented folks who believe that this law is outrageous, and I believe that because of the topic and it's involvement of Roe it will likely get appealed to the highest of courts.

Am I pi$$ed that it's gone this far?  Yes you bet.  Do I think that this case or others like it are the first step toward turning back to the court for review the grave mistake they made on overturning Roe?  Yes  .It will take cases like this for that ruling to be reviewed and tweaked and rolled back.  Sadly.  But I think our best and brightest will volunteer for the job.

  2. You'd have to correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anybody has been charged and inprisioned yet?  Didn't it just go inte effect?

I said they'd get their pick of prombono representation as this is sure to be challenged and potentially go to the Supreme Court and I think there will be support and funding for their defense from all over the nation.

I get the feeling she's being quiet because she's enjoying life out of the spotlight.  At this point, I would be surprised if she would run.  It would have to be as an independent or third party because she would never get the nomination after she was so mean to Lord Trump.

As one of her constituents, I agree with a lot of what you say here.  She's realized she is far more powerful in the Senate with her agenda than trying to play the game as POTUS.

  4. These folks should have to give up their pensions and life time benefits before taking them away from the rest of us.  Methinks they'd  think twice...

course as I write this I realize we have a lot working until they're in their 90's so maybe it wouldn't be the deterent I think it would be ...

How about an LA Times article?

    https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2023-02-10/whats-the-matter-with-portland-urban-ills-tests-citys-progressive-strain

Over the last three years, the number of unhoused people in the metro area has jumped from about 4,000 to at least 6,600. Shootings in the city have tripled. Homicides climbed from 36 in 2019 to 97 last year — a record. Lower-level crimes have spiked too: More than 11,000 vehicles were stolen in 2022, up from 6,500 in 2019.

What does that have to do with Walmart closing?

Walmart closing stores in Portland and elsewhere ….as long as you steal less than 1000 a day you’re safe.

    https://www.foxbusiness.com/retail/walmart-shutter-portland-locations-just-months-after-ceos-warnings-crime

“Theft is an issue. It’s higher than what it has historically been," Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in December on CNBC. He added that "prices will be higher and/or stores will close" if authorities don’t crack down on prosecuting shoplifting crimes.

Your comments are very misleading Nic.  If you read the article you'll see the Portland closings have nothing to do with shoplifting.

"We have nearly 5,000 stores across the U.S. and unfortunately some do not meet our financial expectations," Walmart said in its announcement, according to KPTV. "While our underlying business is strong, these specific stores haven’t performed as well as we hoped."

    Quote

The retail staple announced other closures across the U.S., including in: Arkansas, Florida, Washington, D.C., Wisconsin, New Mexico and Illinois.

A Walmart spokesperson told Fox News Digital when asked about McMillon's comments that "there is no single cause for why a store closes."

"We do a thorough review of how a store performs and weigh many factors before making the difficult decision to close a facility," the spokesperson said.

"We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population, customer needs, and the proximity of other nearby stores when making these difficult decisions.

If I had to make a guess why a store like Walmart doesn't do well in Portland it is likely more because of the people's support of small businesses in their community rather than feeding the beast that comes in and shutters others, pays lower wages and impacts the community in a negative way.  It's one thing to plunk one down in rural Idaho, another to try and make one work in a city or it's suburbs.

  7. If I break a company policy on quid pro quo or other issues with the DPH, CDC, FDA etc it's immediate termination,  So I know not to ever even get close to that line.  We take live/virtual training annually on these policies and sign that we have listened and understand and will abide by them.  I'd imagine that there is a long list of rules that police must also read and sign off on knowing that violation may lose them their jobs.

These guys knew and made a concious decision to do this.  If they are so egregiously violating this policy what else are they pushing the envelope on in their roles knowing how powerful the uniform is?  Are they the cops you want to trust with the lives of their colleagues?

I disagree with you here RedDenver.  Particularly in todays times with the microscope on cops and their behavior that's over the line - there's no room for looking the other way.  If one makes these sorts of poor decisions I can't imagine they're not making others.

  8. Just got back from a work trip where all our company was present.  A person who is in NC and come to find out is VERY involved and respected in GOP politics there (he was showing me all his pics with Tilley, Nicki, and others) and he said he isn't sure that he will vote for Nimarata (he is also of south asian descent).  When he found out I didn't play with the GOP he clammed up, but thought it was very interesting that someone that knows her personally isn't sold on her candidacy.

  9. Ummmm isn't football a game where there is opportunity for injury due to twisting and people falling into you and what not?  You can only prevent injury by practicing scenarios where they might happen - I say go at it, it may very well help him be better conditioned to not get injured in the season.

  10. Dom & his brother knew what sort of attention his trip would cause ...and honestly I don't think a current coach and an alumni would set his state up to fail like that.  I took their appearance and his standing up and waving etc. as a huge positive.

Sure. But, 40,000 hours of video isn’t needed to show that.

And I'd just as soon have the videos that show the hiding places and evacuations routes, hidden cameras and etc NOT be shared with folks that we know will use them to plan future possibly more successful coups.

Because it will help him keep that top rated show with his worshipers.

What should have happened is it being given to multiple news outlets across a spectrum.  So, of Fox wants to edit something or hide something, other news outlets can call them out on it.

The way this is being done, is a complete s#!t show and is a prime example of McCarthy's ineptitude for the job.

OR if you're stuck on just letting your buddies at Fox lay eyes on it give it to the NEWS team - not the nut job opinion guy.
