  1. If his brother wasnt on campus, i dont think he would have a commitable offer at this point. Just my opinion.
  2. Its lame he is trying to honor the anniversary of his brother's death, which happens to also be his birthday?
  3. If Sam actually knew anything about football, i might be worried.
  4. I get what you're saying, but it doesn't really matter who is doing "the complaining." And I suppose, to be fair, I should understand the context of the "complaining" but based on what Nick Gates said, it seems to revolve around the fact that the OL doesn't want to do the extra work. It seems they want to do just enough to get by. Which is, in essence, the basis of "Pelini-itis." All these guys have played for the current staff longer than they were with Bo. So, your theory doesn't hold water. Hard work is taught by parents, not by a coach in 2 years. If you arent a hard worker at 18, i doubt you will all of a sudden be one at 20. Bo recruited guys who werent hard workers, simple as that. Cav is stuck with these guys, he cant just recruit 5 guys and start them all their freshman year. You cant coach attitude or hard work, that has to already be in you.
  5. I understand people are impatient with our line, I am. But Cav didnt really have the type of players setup and prepared when he got the job. I think he has done well with what he has (several 150+ rushing games with walkons). He made the smart move to redshirt as many players as he could last year in a effort to bolster the next 2-3 years. Look, lines arent made in a year or two, like you can with LB's, WR's, etc. Its not uncommon for for a lot of positions to have a younger player starting..... but OL isnt one of them. Hell, even in the 90s we werent starting freshman. You had to be all american caliber to start here under their junior year. On top of lack of talent at some positions, these guys were not developed and trained like they should have been (you can thank Cotton, and Bo's lack of priority on strength and conditioning). We are seeing the same effect on the DL. IMO, it takes 3-4 years to setup a OL group. I am willing to give him another 2 years as long as we see some improvement year to year. Coach Davis, on the other hand, should be the one people are concerned about.
  6. Considering in these kids lifetime, we have only been to one bowl major bowl (pre BCS era) and got stomped, haven't had a major award winner since Suh (8 years ago), and havent won a single conference championship.... we are nobody. Most of the kids we are targeting were born after 2000, their first memory of Nebraska football was probably Callahan. Damn, I feel really old now.
  7. Holmes may have a slight edge in raw physical talent, but Brendan (IMO) has more drive, maturity and humble hard work. Like Dr Stark once told me - 80% of football is between your ears, the other 20% is god gifted talent. I haven't wanted a player at NU this bad since Andrus Peat. Hopefully we get this one!
  8. Scheme doesnt matter to me as much as a good DC who demands tough mofo mentality like McBride. McBride would grab a 6'4" 330lb DT by the facemask and threaten to f#*k him up. Surprisingly, i think he might have tried if one of the players would have pushed him. Ive played in 4-3 and 3-4, neither mattered as much as the position coaches and DC's attitudes did.
  9. I dont understand why people around here dont appreciate Coach Cav more. The guy took a mess of Oline that were comprised of spread run (zone blocking) type players that had very little experience pass blocking in a pro offense scheme (different blocking styles, techniques, etc), with little to no depth.... he then redshirted a few of our best players and still managed to produce the least amount of sacks in the B1G, that says a lot considering the play style of YOLO Tommy. Not only that, but he had several walkons starting and still had good rushing yards most games. He has been good at recruiting and is overall a good dude. I think he is greatly under-appreciated.
  10. I want this kid at NU more than any player i have seen in recent years
  11. PSU doesnt have any competition for any players in the Northeast. Thats Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, DC, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Their biggest competitor for players is Maryland and Pitt. The northeast has 55 MILLION people. The Northeast area has 2.5 times more people than the second largest region in the unites states, the south. Think about that for a second.. 2.5 times more people than all the people from North Carolina to (and including) Texas! Granted, football isnt as popular in the northeast as it is in the south, but thats a lot of damn people.
  12. I know a lot of people on here like coach Davis, but i have never been a fan of his. If it wasnt for the raw talent of Tre and Ozigbo, his deficiencies would be blinding. I think Coach Cav takes a lot of blame for Coach Davis. I was surprised at the lack of development from Newby his last two years.
  13. I have a feeling it will be like the AA game, mostly letdowns. I hope I am wrong, but i feel like a lot of people are going to be let down tomorrow. I blame Matty and all his sunshine pumping.
  14. Hmmmmmmm........ oh the irony.... Nice job Mavric, now you get to clean more crap out of threads because you can't stay on topic.... My point was... Are you guys reading something or hearing something somewhere that suggests he is going to that school, or are you just throwing schools out there? Reasoning is because he said last week those schools weren't even recruiting him anymore. Not that you can't guess that he is going there. I was curious for more information as to why.... Anyways, back to the subject. I hope you take my comment as nothing more than a friendly "ribbing". I do enjoy your optimism. But, you do paint a target on your back with some of you "guessing" on recruits and the DC hire. For my part, its all in good fun. As for Mr. Lenoir, I dont see him leaving the West coast, but hope I am wrong.
  15. I wish Riley could get this guy. He could make an immediate impact in our 3-4. We need some more Poly at NU
  16. Considering we havent really run Rileys or Langsdorf's offense yet, id say give them some more time. We also didnt start a QB that could run their offense. I was also hearing rumors all year that several OL were redshirted that could have been starting. It seems like the offensive staff was saving all of its chips for the 2017 season, when they will have a QB that has the ability to run their offense.
  17. Its far from trolling. Ive been a lurker for years. Certain people i havent seen in a while, that were bashing people a few years ago when people were calling for Bo's head, all of a sudden show back up? Its amazing that that those same few people are now all of a sudden start looking for conspiracies concerning the AD. It was annoying 2 years ago, and still is today Sorry if it looks like trolling, wasnt my intent. Just tired of the "AD is the devil" BS, and im not the only person.
  18. Its crazy that our DC gets fired and all the Bo-lievers come out of the woodwork. They constantly attack and bitch about the two people who are doing whatever it takes to make Nebraska relevant again. Go root for YSU you clowns!
  19. My kids in math and science are studying what I learned in HS when they are in 8th and 9th grade. Now, maybe our small C1 size school is different from everywhere else. But, my two who are in college are breezing through with 4.0s in science majors entering the medical field. I agree, the school district can make a huge difference. My wife sees kids now that are in HS that read at a 3rd grade level and cant do simple math. Teachers are now forced to slow down everyone in the class for the slowest learner. Granted, we live on the west coast and school districts here are much different than i remember in the midwest.
  20. most kids get 3.0 nowadays without trying. You can thank No Student Left Behind BS. Teachers get penalized for a student not handing in homework. So, if they show up, they automatically get a 2.0 Before the late 90's, a 2.5 was average and kids actually had to learn things. What most of us learned our freshman year, kids today are struggling to learn their Senior year.
