  1. Money isnt everything. USC offered Peterson a TON of money to leave Boise State, he didnt leave. He took less money at Washington for many reasons. I have been offered a position paying much more at another company, and turned it down. The company that offered didn't have near the benefits, the VP was known to be an a-hole, the clients had a reputation of being difficult to work with, and the company had a high employee turnover rate. It didnt want to pay the staff under me what was needed to be competitive, and the location didn't have a wealth of qualified people to fill the positions in the area. On top of that, they wanted me to relocate to a small town that had nothing worth writing home about. It was clear that the position was not setup to succeed. I am not in any way saying that this is the current state of the coaching position at NU, but to think that throwing money at someone is going to fix everything is absurd.
  2. I would love to get Lewis, but there seem to be many more WR prospects that are pretty darn good we could also pull in. No, no there aren't; not of his caliber. +1
  3. I hope we can land this guy because Lenoir and Johnson arent going to leave the West Coast/PAC, imo.
  4. Hell, apparently Darnay wasnt important enough to make sure we got an in home with him before he committed, why would we think Lewis is any different. I don't think it was darnay wasn't important enough to us, more like we weren't important enough to darnay We were never in Darnay's top 3. He kept us in the top 4 out of respect for Riley and the Johnson's. A different story with Mr Lewis.
  5. Grim, Alston, Stanton. Nebraska focused heavily on California this year and ignored the 500 radius which Riley said he wanted to own.Evidence?Uhhh yeah a list of our commits How is that evidence we ignored the 500 mile radius? How about a list of offers? How about the number of trips we took to those potential recruits' houses? How about the number of good players there are in the 500 mile radius this year? I don't have this information, but I know people like to exaggerate. The lack of commits may be simply that those players chose different schools. Okay, so then I'll flip your argument on it's head - where's the evidence we're only focusing on California? First off, we didn't *only* focus on California. Now that's said, Getting no commits from an area doesn't mean we paid no/little attention to it (but we have 3-4 commits in 500 mile radius, not none). Getting some commits from an area doesn't mean we spent all or even most of our attention there. It shows we spent some attention there. That's the case for both the 500 mile radius and California. We simply don't have the behind the scenes intel (or the people making the claim aren't providing it) to know whether they're focusing enough on the 500 mile radius. Oh damn, grammar po-po. Moraine, im starting to think you're either my mom or my ex-wife. You have to have everything perfect, you're rarely if ever wrong, nobody can tell you different, etc. Its just an absolute drain of life to read. Just my take, i dont know you from Eve, and maybe its just an over computer disconnect. In person could be completely different, unless you're my ex or mother of course. Have to have everything perfect? That's not even close to my personality. I don't mind arguing though. Maybe I'm just annoyed nobody's using my damn graphs to argue that Riley is concentrating too much on California. He gets more of his recruits from there than Callahan did. I thought you are arguing that its not true we concentrate on Cali that much? Didnt someone say we need to concentrate more on the 500 mile radius and i thought you were arguing that theres nothing to prove we arent concentrating on the 500 mile radius? CN, I can see why you have an EX, you dont know women at all. They will argue with themselves, if they have too. I've seen it! J/K Moraine, you are one of the few reasonable people on this board. I just couldnt help myself
  6. Kid has the ability and motor. Needs some time developing his technique and his body. This kid is a project with a ton of upside. I, for one, would love to see him at NU. fwiw, i think he would make a great DE
  7. i hope someone is assigned to matty's suicide watch.
  8. classyDo you think it's nice? That's all I'm saying.I've never been there, so I can't make a judgment. I just don't get why you'd call the place that he feels is right for him a sh#t hole. Have you ever been to OSU? OSU is a good school, nice town, cool place to live, crystal clear lakes/rivers, beautiful cascade mountains, ocean not far away, driving distance to Portland, and great weather. If OSU is a sh#t hole, i am not sure what you consider Lincoln. did you even read my post??? lol, did you read mine? Mine was directed at Matty. Sorry for the confusion

  10. What i heard, Mom wants USC, to be close to home GF want UCLA for obvious reasons Dad wants OSU for "best chance of going pro" Friends want him to go to NU Darnay doesnt know where he wants to go. I think Darnay had started to write Nu off before we hired Williams.

  12. Sad. If this doesnt get people to stop twitting HS kids, i dont know if anything will. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0605565979480559961-4 EDIT - Added http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0605564069730062641-4 http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0605565133367808336-4
  13. You may be completely right. But, that is like comparing Iowa State's school/facilities to Nebraska's. Those two schools are on a whole different level. If his only concern is who the HC is, then yes, you would be 100% correct. But, i dont think that is the only thing that matters to him.
  14. No one was going to talk over Tommy this year. I for one am happy to see players like Gates and Morgan Jr. holding people accountable. With a new QB, RB, TE's and WR's coming in this year, we will need the line to step up, now more than ever.
  15. Its hard to bring in top talent when you lose handily to Iowa.
  16. I don't see it happening. I haven't followed him closely. I didn't even know he had that good of a record this year. However, I remember seeing posts over the last two seasons on here showing he really hasn't changed. Wasn't it last year where he basically cost his team's chance at winning a big game because he melted down in the last few minutes? No way does someone change that type of personality that easily. He will win where ever he goes count on it. He will have teams that love him no matter what, count on it. He may not win a Championship but he will win. Thats easy to point out when you have people that live 24/7 to find and point out the negative about some one. Pass me some of whatever you are smoking, it must be damn good.
  17. I would take him. What if PoB doesnt pan out? Who do you have? A true freshman and a transfer that didnt do well at his last stop.
  18. Tuberville's salary was around $2.2 million. So yeah, that would save us a couple million over the next three years. That may be true but Pelini can always take a low ball number from any school and let NU subsidize his pay wherever he goes. I am sure that is happening now. Why not continue?because Cincinnati is not Youngstown State There is a clause in the contract that states he must be paid a normal salary for the position. YSU is paying Pelini the same as they paid their last coach. Otherwise, NU will estimate what he would make and only sends him the remaining balance. It to keep him from doing just that. If Bo went to Cincinnati, i would expect that they would pay him close to the same as tuberville.... at least until Bo's contract with NU is up.
  19. a few people here seem to think money is everything. I have been offered a position paying much more at another company, and turned it down. 20. This program needed some poly swag (humble, hard working, mentally and physically tough mofo's). If you have ever met a Poly, you would recognize how much they have in common with midwestern values. Work hard, stay humble, treat other with respect, family and community first. I was so happy he took the job at NU. I hope he finishes his career there. Alofa, uso!
