  1. One of the reasons we have so many police shootings is the police have to deal with so many armed criminals. But that's a gun control issue and I'm not going to derail this conversation by talking about the gun problem. doesn't matter! We don't need to kill people, period. That's not how justice works in America. Also what about all of the unarmed and mentally ill being shot. I don't care if the criminals are armed, police should not be killing this many civilians and they need to let the justice system take care of sentencing instead of sentencing people in the street by killing them. I don't care about the circumstances at this point we have had far to many people of all races killed by police, that were causing no threat to police! Roughly 100 unarmed people have died since the start of 2015. That is a problem and if you can't see that you have a problem! Again why do we need to KILL PEOPLE to police them? I'm saying we don't. It angers me when people act so nonchalantly about life. I don't care if these people have done bad things. Some have families and people they love very much. No one thinks about what's going on in this person's life. You just think "whoooo another bad guy down" but sometimes it's not always that simple. Sometimes it's not a bad guy, it could be a good guy by all other intents and purposes who had to do some bad things to get by. These are people's lives we are talking about and call me an idiot but I believe police should be preserving life at every turn. Not the polices job to give a criminal (or an innocent person in some cases) the death sentence. And the death sentence is deemed almost too horrible for society now. But we continue to accept that police kill a thousand people a year? I refuse to, there are better ways. So the police should just let the armed man shoot them? It's not like cops kill all armed men, just the ones that should be threatening their life. Sure, sometimes it's paranoia. But a lot of times it's warranted. No police should take down armed criminals with rubber bullets, tasers and dozens of other non lethal methods of incapacitation designed for police use. Take down the criminals and take them to jail I'm all for that but you can do it without killing them. one question. What about the suspects that are so cranked up on sh#t that those things dont have an impact? My issue with all this is putting the full responsibility on police, while seemingly absolving the suspect for being in that situation to begin with. There's an easy solution. When dealing with the police, just do what they say. Dont run. Dont threaten. just stop, hands up get down. We want the police to let the justic system work. Well, if there's so much faith in that, then shouldnt suspects do the same? if youre innocent, youre innocent. Look. I know there are bad cops. I get it. But i'm not letting 2% create negative generalizations for all. my wife's cousin-whom Im pretty good friends with-is an officer in Omaha. I will ALWAYS give the benefit of doubt to police, until facts come out. What needs to happen is it needs to be analyzed on a case by case situation instead of taking a few instances and using those to create this giant generalization. This is not a copout. This is not saying we should just forget about the bad 2%. it should be 0. We should strive for that. But here's the thing. The effort has to come from both sides. Not just "here good cops. since a couple bad cops were naughty, we're taking away your guns and giving you this paintball gun and tazers." Why cant there be accountability on the other side when it comes to just total cooperation or, hey, maybe not being in position to break the law inthe first place? You're not understanding.. First of all I'm not blaming police. Police in most cases are doing their job when they kill a person. I'm arguing that should not be the polices decision in the first place. I am sorry but insubordination or not listeNing to what police say is not punishable by death. Most crimes committed aren't punishable by death yet people are being punished by death for their wrong doings every day at the hands of police. This is not how justice works in america. People go to trial and are judged by a jury of their peers. In my mind it is unconstitutional for police to kill people. Police shouldn't be doing it plain and simple. It's not about good cops or bad cops. All cops don't need to kill people in order to safely police. Suspects don't deserve to die plain and simple. They have a right just like everyone else to a fair trial whether they cooperate with police or not. If they don't cooperate with police then they go to jail longer. But justifying police killings by saying they were not listening is silly. That is not a reason to shoot someone. For the record, this is all to argue that maybe law enforcement reform is needed.

Giving police a license to kill creates alot of avoidable pain. 100 people who had no reason to be shot could have gone home to their families but now they are in a grave just since the start of 2015. I say we look to avoid these situations all together by not making them a possibility. You have to be more forward thinking. You seem stuck in the now, as if the way it is now is the only way it can be done. People who innovate don't think this way. There are always ways to improve any system.

  4. The UK has had 55 police shootings resulting in death in the last 24 years. In the United States police shot and killed 59 people in the first 24 days of 2015. Argument over if other countries can do this so can we. We don't need to kill people to police them, period. Uk 2016-2 deaths USA 2016-772 deaths
  5. I +1'ed your post because I am sure that you will get a lot of hate for posting this. I 95% agree with what you are saying (The only thing I didn't agree with I struck out). Like I said in an earlier post, sure this is raising attention to the matter. Doesn't mean it's positive attention. Everything legislatively has been done, that's what MLK did. Changing society is impossible to force.law enforcement reform isn't impossible to force There isn't any law enforcement reforming to do! Of all of the high profile cop shootings, maybe one or two have been racist at most, and the rest were more than likely with reason and the guy he shot happened to be black. And for many of the ones that are presumed to be racist, people love to assume the cop is automatically the bad guy, without listening to both sides.Well considering there have been 2000+ people killed by police in the last 2 years I would disagree with you. You are acting like all cops are complete monsters. Their job is to take care of the monsters, not be the monsters. Most do a good job of fulfilling that. >99% of killings are warranted. Believe it or not, if a danger is posed to the cop, they are supposed to shoot the person that is threatening them! I'm not saying cops are monsters I'm saying there is an issue and we can find a solution. There are better ways to police the American people in my opinion and I believe that we can administer changes that result in less deaths for civilians and police. Police killing civilians takes away the civilians constitutional right to a fair trial, to justice. I think we should find a way to avoid police killing civilians at all costs. I don't think it's a police officer problem I think it's an institutional problem

Mentally ill people being killed by police. Unarmed African Americans do get killed at a higher rate than any other race, racial bias or not. These are facts and this is a problem

  9. Nobody should have to be subjected to political theater by means of ambush. If one pays to see a football game, then give them a football game and leave out the other crap...is that wrong? I just despise all of this "Look at me!" sh!t that tries to get pawned off as something noble or useful. Like that other guy said, "Do something." Wow people kneeling for the anthem this has totally ruined the football game that I payed to see. Even though people at the game probably wouldn't even notice the players were kneeling if they are watching the flag
  10. what you focus on will persist. War on drugs, war on terror, now a war on racism. In all instances this "attack" on societies problems inevitably create more of the same problems. Why don't we have a rally for safety, a program for peace? We fight the things we don't like instead of replacing them with something we would rather have. Mother Teresa said she would never attend an anti war rally. She said she would always atrend a pro peace rally. The sad thing is i think government higher ups understand the law of attraction and use it in a divisive manner
  11. Fair enough. Believe what you will. I'm not buying a lot of this "Black Lives Matter" stuff myself, so we have our preferences. We can say for certain that the team was blown apart (unnecessarily) when it deviated from football into politics, correct? (rhetorical question, no need to answer since the answer is apparent.)
  12. The biggest problem in this country is the income gap between the very rich and the very poor. We need to invest in the inner cities to bring jobs and opportunity to poor people. And those poor people are disproportionately black. It's not a handout, it's a helping hand. Exactly. Gotta do something to break the cycle. African Americans will help themselves out but we have to get them on a level playing field as white America for that to happen, otherwise it is exponentially more difficult to overcome the situation.
  13. If you go back to the OP, I'm not arguing that this is necessarily a bad scheme, I was pointing out there was a lot of grumbling - both here and from media guys - that our linebackers weren't playing well. I don't think it's necessarily a case for them not playing well, I think the scheme we're running doesn't lend itself to LBs making a lot of plays. They have to make the play when it comes into their gap but they're not expected to run all over the field making plays. I think I've documented that to be the case. it seems to me our safeties are the key playmakers when it comes to run defense This is actually a trend across a lot of defenses when it comes to actually making the tackle. often times linebacker are caught up in the proper fits but that doesnt necessarily mean that's where the ball goes but rather, is spilled to where the safety winds up making the play. Safeties have their keys too that they have to read properly to tell them if it's run and dump their coverage responsibilities and get to their fit as well. Lotta good stuff that's a lot more than a lot of folks think of. yep solid schematic defense. Not enough backers to protect all of the gaps, it takes the whole defense. The idea is to plug up all of the holes with your guys instead of having your guys figure out where to go. Doesn't always work that way, but that's the idea
  14. I think it's clear player effort was sub par prior to Michigan State. The coaches were doing a pretty poor job managing games and play calling during that time as well. We lose to Purdue, something happens within the team, galvanizes them and the coaches and players begin to give their all for each other. We reel off 9 out of 10, which really should have been 10 out of 10. The team now has an edge, a confidence that they almost don't know how to lose now. Regardless of games being tight you can see the will of the team at the end of these games. Something special might just be happening in Lincoln...

  17. Every week the additude of the coaches impress me. They look at the film, find the real problems, say they are going to work on them and fix them and that's exactly what they do. They don't get too high on a win or a good performance, they don't get too low on a bad performance. They are steady and focused on the next opponent and it is refreshing to see.
  18. sample size tho So, let's say NU goes 11-3 this year (10-2 regular season, loss in B1G Championship, win the bowl game) and then falls back to 8-5 next year (new QB, new receivers, new leaders have to step up). That's a .615 winning percentage through 3 years. Still way behind. but still less than half of the games that bo coached. So what does Riley do in the next 4 Years? Hard to say but if we get a conference title most likely resulting in a playoff birth I don't care if Riley's win percentages is even close to Bo's
  19. There wouldn't be many guys playing throuout the season with that reasoning. Well, if Tommy is injured and he continues to play, what happens when he gets hurt worse and we are forced to put Fyfe in for 2 weeks or longer? I like my best guys at 100% not 80%, that worries me.
  20. Being in the top 20 overall statistically is pretty great. While the top teams have the best statistics it's not a clear indicator of talent or team ability to a degree. I would say being in the upper quarter of these rankings means you are a solid team that can compete with just about anybody
  21. So many young hauses on the line, the future looks bright here even if we are struggling a bit right now
  22. exactly. Everybody has mobility. If you don't you aren't a good quarterback plain and simple. Sometimes the runningback playing quarterback is a liability. A quarterback with good accuracy and great football iq who distributes the ball to our weapons and keeps turnovers low and just makes smart plays would be a God send when TA is out there YOLO bombing it all over the place. Sometimes you want a quarterback who is going to make the right play not a guy who is always gonna go for the big play. Big play guy can be great when he makes the big plays, but the coin can flip really fast and all of the sudden you have 2 turnovers because you tried to do top much.
  23. Gerry with 7 TFL is impressive! Man he can fly up with run support. But agreed with Chris Jones. If he grades highly and the NFL is the right choice for him go for it, but our secondary is and will be lights out again next year if he returns. I would add to this a D-Line with some more experience next year will make the secondary even better. our whole defensive unit should be very salty if we don't have any early departures. This gives me confidence in 2017. The offense will be new and a question mark but this defense will be stout!
