Why not just line it up and go for it instead? I actually feel like they can’t stop our offense for once. I like being aggressive, especially with this wind, but that play just seemed like a fail right away.

Schaefer mentioned that he didn’t think Frost was a done deal this week. There are a lot of reasons to believe Frost is coming home, but there’s still some reason to be nervous. It’s not simply dumb National writers speculating because they don’t believe we are a good destination.

Maybe I’m just being biased and silly but I think we can win this. Their QB isn’t very good and he’s even worse on the road. I know they have great line play and smacked Ohio State in impressive fashion, but dammit they’re still Iowa. Let’s win this one.

Can’t watch the game but I was following the ESPN gamecast and saw we were making a comeback. Then the gamecast jumped from 7min left to 11seconds and appears to be glitched there for me. Okay nvm it’s working again.

I think we all felt KJJ wasn’t a true 4-star WR, but his peer recruiting impact and personality made him one for us. It stinks that Riley didn’t work out and that KJJ probably won’t be back. But I appreciate that they helped to strengthen our brand and got a lot of recruits interested in visits because of how much they raved about our fans. I don’t have any negative feelings toward them.

Hoke would be at the top of my list as a DLine coach if Parella isn’t retained. Great recruiter and a solid position coach.

Leach is a really good coach. It’s impressive how he always manages to find the perfect QB for him and he’s done a good job having a more balanced team over the years. I like the guy a lot. That said, he’s had some really bad losses in Pullman and hasn’t had to answer a tough question about it. Probably a mixture of him being funny and the media in Pullman liking him and liking that he delivers wins even if there are some bad losses that come with it. He wouldn’t get that same luxury here. It would also feel like Moos sold us some great talking points but ultimately went with someone familiar even if it’s not a great fit - something he specifically mentioned is important. “A coach that fits in one place may not fit in another.” I would be real disappointed with the hire.

I’m not saying Scott will pass on us. But people were discussing how Frost passing on us would say more about him than the state of the program. Athlon had an article over the summer where anonymous coaches said something about each program. Someone said that the Nebraska job isn’t a good job anymore. I’m saying I didn’t think twice about it in the summer, but if Frost passes on us, I’m worried that comment might be more true than I’d like to admit. We will see, I still feel he’s ours.

I can’t think of a positive way to frame Scott passing on us. The only thing I could see is that he feels he’d fit better in the Big 12/Pac 12. I keep thinking about those anonymous coach quotes in Athlon this summer. One coach mentioned how Diaco’s mindgames only work when he has the talent. Another coach mentioned how far our job has fallen. I shrugged both those comments off at the time - Frost passing on us would really give me doubts going forward. Especially if we end up with a Mike Leach or Craig Bohl type of hire.

Then he asked for more money from Nebraska after turning away the only other job pursuing him? Is that timeline correct? I fully believe that he will be our coach, and I believe our well respected poster that a deal is done now unless something changes or Frost goes back on his word. But Frost (or his agent) turning down job offers weeks ago? It’s like someone said, Moos would have been crazy to put every single egg in the Frost basket and Frost would have been crazy to put every single egg in the Nebraska basket. Nebraska can be Frost’s dream job AND Frost can want to get what the market would pay him. Those don’t have to be exclusive.

Fair question but I don’t really see any timetable for the statement in the article. Kelly might have turned us down weeks ago. It does make it seriously hard to believe that Frost told Florida no weeks ago though like has been rumored. That’s not how any of this works. You pursue coaches and coaches pursue jobs until things are figured out. There’s no way Frost or his agent was turning away offers. I think it’s more likely that Florida decided to pursue Kelly over Frost, and that’s why talks halted.

Frost’s system and recruiting ties are perfect in the Pac12. Chip to UCLA makes sense too, but he doesn’t have to be their only target. That’s an incredible job. Mora won 4 games last year and still pulled in two 5-stars and four 4-stars.

Mora out at UCLA. That’s a school that scares me more than Florida in the Frost sweepstakes.

Yeah, UCF is a good job but they’ve reached their cap unless/until they upgrade to the Big12. The only reason he’d choose to stay there is because he’s waiting for a big job to open in the Pac12, which is admittedly a good fit for him. But I don’t think he’s going to stay another year at UCF and I think he wants to come home.

Every week in these game threads, someone asks what our team practices during the week. I usually laugh out loud and then give a +1 without really thinking much more about it. But seriously what the heck do we practice all week?? Do we prepare for teams or just kind of run the same system each week because we haven’t even figured that out?
