Is it though? We have a top 20 defense and are ranked 122/133 in points per game scored. Only 2 opponents have scored over 20 points this season against us and in one of those we handed the opponent a gob of points on turnovers. Just by removing the really bad interceptions, we would be sitting at 7-8 wins without adding a completion.

9-1... With Ok offensive play, we beat Colorado imo.

Hawkeye insider confirmed he is done for the regular season. They weren't sure about the possibility he would be back for the bowl game. https://247sports.com/college/iowa/Article/cooper-dejean-sustains-injury-in-practice-status-unknown-ahead-of-saturdays-home-finale-220460334/

Trev Alberts named new Husker AD - 11 a.m. press conference
Hilltop replied to ColoradoHusk's topic in Husker Football
I'm good with this raise. This raise place Trev on the upper end of AD salaries in the Power 5. Maybe it is a bit high for right now but it isn't a crazy sum to pay if they feel he is the right guy for the job long term. Nebraska athletics make a pile of money so I believe they should pay top dollar to the man in charge of that revenue. -
** 2023 Opponent Preview : Wisconsin (Game 11) **
Hilltop replied to Saunders's topic in Husker Football
It isn't pessimism because Wisconsin is a strong team. I don't think it matters much who we are playing right now. If we take care of the ball, we probably beat Wisconsin or Iowa just like we would have beaten Minnesota, Michigan State, and Maryland. I still think we get to 6 wins but I have no idea if that is against Wisconsin or Iowa. Our entire QB room has the yips. If one of them can get over them by Saturday, we win. If not, we will have to wait until next Friday for Iowa. -

Neb Standing In Conference Realignment - our best fit

You are miss quoting me - I didn't say that, ever. It isn't hopeless at all, smh. This is the first year of a new coach's tenure and we are exceeding expectations with a team full of 2nd and 3rd string players with very little in game experience. If you think still being in the running for a conference championship, in November, is hopeless you need a reality check. -

Agree. This, and the ever growing money gap created by this, make it absolutely insane to ever consider leaving. There isn't a team in the Big 12, Pac 12, ACC or any other conference that doesn't want to join the B1G or the SEC. The only one perceived to be holding out right now is ND. I believe they are just waiting for the right deal. -

** 2023 Opponent Preview : Maryland (Game 10) **
Hilltop replied to Saunders's topic in Husker Football
The game is on opening day of deer season. We have around 100k deer hunters in this state.... people are giving away tickets. -
There is also a pretty big difference in colliding with the average La Tech defender and an average B1G defender.

11am game - I think we will travel well but I doubt it is a majority. Hope I'm wrong but I'm guessing 70/30 or maybe 60/40. If it was a 2:30 kickoff, I think it would be closer to 50/50. -
I would be negative if I lived in Denver as well. Feel for you man

It's a B1G game on the road in November... nothing is a gimme. I am guessing Matt is preaching that daily. -

Opening day of deer season. We will listen at deer camp over lunch so wouldn't have watched it anyways. -
Nebraska - 31 Mi State - 17 Pass - 285 Rush - 197 HH takes a step forward in this one.
-
And I said as much a couple of posts later. Nobody is saying HH is a good QB right now. The discussion is whether he could be good with another year of development. He is essentially a freshman in experience being thrown in to the spotlight with virtually all the offensive starters out of the game. That leads me to think some significant improvements are possible in year two, especially with a stronger supporting cast.
-
We all know the defense is why we are winning but HH is a significant part of what offense we do have. It's pretty hard to determine the ceiling on a guy playing with a team full of 2nd and 3rd string guys with little experience at this level. As young as our team is he has the opportunity to grow with the group around him - pretty unique situation that just might lead to some great offense in a year or two. I still think we need to pursue a transfer QB but I have a feeling HH will compete pretty hard with them in the spring.
-
I think I am more curious to see what the kid can do with a full offseason to improve on what he did this year. He is a winner and a smart kid with the right motivation. He just might end up being a good QB. Who is the last QB to win 5 of 6 games for us? Armstrong in 2016...
-
The right QB will attract better linemen and vice versa. Our O-Line has improved as well. Hard to see the improvements through the injuries' but the stats are there. We will absolutely be bringing in a transfer QB but I'm guessing we see an improved HH competing with him next spring. Biggest jump is from year one to year two on the field so I'm guessing HH would be a pretty serviceable QB next year.

The targeting rule is way too subjective. It is a good rule in principal but they really need to figure out how to enforce it fairly and consistently.
-
Parker has been with Iowa a long time but the guy is only 60. I doubt he retires but who knows I guess. My guess is he will be given a shot at the head coaching spot if KF retires at the end of the season. I don't think he really wants it but will take the 5 year retirement boost.
