  1. How many times have we allowed speculation to turn into reality in just 2 forum pages?
  2. Can't believe Scott let that happen...smh. That's opening day of Spring Turkey season in Nebraska.
  3. And he took a job that nobody with a good resume wanted- Baylor was a train wreck with the scandals. I think the job he did there was amazing. As to Frost, I hope the NFL does come calling at some point. That will mean that he has Nebraska kicking a$$.
  4. I remember the last time Oregon was in town... I was sure glad they kept going for 2. 4 of 5 attempts failed and they lost by 3. 2 point conversions are attempted in desperation imo. If your offense is dominant enough to almost guarantee them, you won't need them.
  5. Comparing the B1G and the Big 12 this bowl season isn't close imo. Ohio St showed they are every bit as good as Clemson. Minny knocked off Auburn who just beat Alabama! Wisconsin arguably looked like the better team against the best the P12 had to offer. We finished 4-5 but looked head and shoulders above the B12 imo.
  6. If you think that is the issue, you should look a little closer. Speed and size differences have been painfully obvious. These are measurable things. Talent and playmaking ability can be subjective but when you look at our low number of draft picks over the last several years, it's obvious that the NFL agrees.
  7. Can't wait to see the student section signs . The guy has shown he is capable at other stops but we will have some fun at his expense!
  8. It would save so much time if there were an eye roll or thumbs down... Maybe for new years?
  9. Or he will stick with him because he thinks he is the QB that gives us the best chance to win. Do you really think anything about last season made Frost "comfortable"?
  10. If Luke was Tua he would have had more than one Power 5 school offering him a scholarship to play QB. I like the kid and hope he turns into a Heisman winner but I'm not going to spend my time publicly posting that I know he is better than whoever based on a handful of scripted plays during a rough season.
  11. "Unfortunately we didn’t play Luke more so we end up having to defer judgement to the coaches despite the eye test which most feel leads to give Luke a real chance to play a couple games at least." Your sense of reality is laughable. We don't have any say in who plays or not. All fan bases have to always "defer judgement" to the coaches. Saying that most feel Luke is better is absurd. You have absolutely no idea what most feel because 90%+ of Nebraska fans don't take the time to post on message boards. Do you really believe that Scott would play AM if he didn't think he gave us the best chance to win? I like to drink beer, watch a lot of football, and pretend that I know more than the coaches at times. A lot of us do that but most of us sober up and realize that it's pretty likely that the guy getting paid millions to do the job probably knows more.
  12. The occasional low star kid does turn into a superstar but it's a much lower percentage than the highly touted kids %. The stars have become somewhat of a game but they do have real measurable data behind them as well. Physical size can't be coached. Quickness, overall speed, and athleticism can be coached to a degree but a recruit that has it coming in is at a distinct advantage. The more of those big, fast, athletic kids you have, the higher likelihood that a few of them realize their potential and become great at the college level. As Nebfanatic pointed out above, it's hard to find an example of a championship team that didn't have multiple highly ranked classes leading up to the title run. Recruiting matters.
  13. I'm always for people getting the opportunity to right wrongs of the past and better themselves. Kudos to Scott for trying. I think this also sends a strong message to current and future players that he won't give up on an individual easily. I have a college age son who has made mistakes - not to this level but punishable none the less. I think most college kids do, especially their first year there. My son was given a second chance and is about to graduate near the top of his class. I'm very grateful that he was given the opportunity to show that he could change for the better. I genuinely hope MW does the same.
  14. We took in 11 combined last year. an average of 7 - 8 per year is about right. We had to go heavy last year due to the lack of talent and depth on the line. We should be sitting great right now albeit a little green in depth.
  15. I hope someone with more time than me is saving some of these quotes. Our fan base can be hilarious at times.
  16. Very good point Landlord. This is lost to the casual fan that doesn't understand what goes into game planning. Luke looked great because the defense was completely caught off guard on that play. We tried something similar with Noah but the defense sniffed it out and it didn't work. I do think Luke provided a "spark" to the team and, at the time, thought he should have been given another series. That said, I don't question the decision as I am confident that our coaching staff went the route they thought gave us the best chance to win.
  17. Nobody said it was a good defense. I said, imo, that the defense had improved on the year. My opinion is that Chin deserves at least another year to show what he can do as he gains more talent and has more time to implement his system. I believe everyone on the forum understands your point of view and also realizes that anything remotely positive will be quickly debated. Nothing wrong with that... a lot of people are unhappy. I like husker football and do my best to stay in a positive frame of mind so I can enjoy it even during the years we aren't a good team.
  18. I'm guessing some of the best defensive minds in the game would have looked bad at times this year with the available talent.
  19. I either watch or DVR all the games. My guess is the largest drop off in viewers are non-Nebraska fans. When we were good, we were interesting to the rest of college football. If you are one of those people that watches games all day Saturday, you typically will pick the most interesting game on when your team isn't playing.
  20. TO is better than Saban because my old NCAA football simulations were unanimous. 95 Nebraska beat every Saban coached team, including 2009, so it must be true.
  21. IMO the 3-4 can handle the speed of the spread offenses a little bit better than a base 4 can. In the end, any of the variations discussed can work with the right players on the field.
  22. I actually felt like our defense improved towards the end of the season and Chin was on the right track. I would really like to see what he can do as he gains more talent.
  23. Smh... People can't stay on topic. I'll wait a couple days and let mods clean up threads. GBR
  24. Find where Frost listed that as a goal. You won't. Look at teams averages on the the year vs their schedule and what they did against us. Our offense wasn't perfect but wasn't the glaring problem. Teams set season high after season high against us.
  25. Fair enough. Everyone has the stats there in front of them. Our offense wasn't the problem today or for most of the season. Even if you take away the defensive score, we matched Penn State's offensive production against Iowa and scored 7 more in offense than Michigan could. Both top 20 teams. We have a problem on defense and special teams.... Here is a hint. Look at the NFL draft this spring to see how many players from Nebraska are selected. We have a talent issue....
