I like the positives you list, but let’s be honest - this was a “look beyond” game for the Badgers. They play Michigan next week, and they knew they could win by just showing up yesterday.
That is really funny - last year they put a combined 94 points on us. Won’t be any different this year. I am hoping BCU is in the win column, but no sure thing.
At this point, the best high school recruits will choose any other of a large number of excellent programs over Nebraska. The new reality is that we are now a small fish in a big pond. This fact will take time to change - if we can.
Last fall this forum was filled with posters who said with the current “highly ranked” players on the field, a new (better) coach could easily win 8-9 games. Just a fact.
I don’t cringe at thinking the best fans, that’s the way it should be, but there are no less than 30-40 other programs across the country that would say the same thing.
Iowa State beat Akron today - we would have lost to Akron if that game had been played. In fact, the last time we played Iowa State in Lincoln - they beat us. Be careful what you wish for.
Hard to say. Which was worse - losing to Iowa by 42 last year on our home field? Or losing at Michigan by 46 this year? Both outcomes simply confirm we are a below average football program, and our opponents do not care who we once were - nor do they remember.
