Is it an easy schedule if you are a s#!tty team? No. Is it an easy schedule for a blue blood program in the 5th year of a new coach? If that coach wants to keep his job it should be. If it is a hard schedule that is just further evidence we don't have the right coach. Year 5 we should not be looking at Illinois as a toss up game. That means we are not the program we are supposed to be. There are 4 blue blood programs in the big 10. Nebraska, Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State. Do you think the other 3 would look at this schedule and be saying man I hope we get 7 wins.

Let's hope we can use this to our benefit and bring in some recruits on that side of the ball -

I remember saying the same thing 3-4 years ago. -
I agree. I think it should have tiers. 6 wins or less you are fired. 7-8 wins you keep your job. But no extension and you keep the reduced salary for 1 more year. 9+ wins and your salary goes back to 5 million and earn 1 year extension.
-
I hear you. But I remember we were putting up crazy stats in year 1 too and that was another losing record. So maybe it is not that odd. Maybe Frost is good at collecting stats but not scoring or winning games.
-
True. Our record is what it is too. 3-7.

What sort of offensive scheme do you think Frost will/should adopt?

Whatever it takes to win. That’s exciting to me. Watching lots of yards and big plays and losing is not exciting. Personally I like defensive football, the teams seem more disciplined and well coached. -
New Offensive Coordinator options?

Yes, they are the fall guy for the head coach who does call the plays when the offense isn’t working -

Chip Kelly was the real OC by the way. Helfrich did not call plays. -
Someone should let Florida know that Mullen played a tough schedule so it is ok he is losing games. Man have standards dropped around here. When you suck I suppose every schedule seems tough.
-
Before we celebrate too much let’s see who he brings in and if he actually relinquishes play calling. Cause next year might look like the last 4. In case you missed frost telling everyone he still thinks what they are doing works and he is not looking for big changes just new ideas
-
Your right cause I can hear all those excuses already. CTB gone, Jojo gone, new O staff. Need more time. If I sold time shares I would start with Nebraska fans
-
Nebraska ran through 8 coaches in the 20 years before Devaney. I wonder if anyone in the fan base said we should stick with Bill Jennings cause this is our 8th coach in 20 years and it’s not working hiring and firing

Yant transfers to big10 power running team and runs for 150 on us next year

I was thinking about starting a new thread so Brandon Lincoln could copy and paste his post in one more place -
Just call it what it is. Our special teams suck and everyone knows it. Don’t say fake s#!t like our special teams are pretty good other than specialists. I don’t see Saban or other good coaches sugar coating it because he might hurt a grown mans feelings. sometimes to be better you have to acknowledge deficiencies and hold people accountable. We will not improve if we are afraid to hurt feelings about someone not doing good enough. He doesn’t have to slam Dawson but he can say yes we need to improve that phase of the game and a full time assistant could dedicate the needed time.
-
Or really acknowledge that things need to change. He said he still thinks what they are doing could work and Dawson is doing good at special teams. Kinda scary

I think what he meant to say was actually be good at it. -

So in 95 and 97 we only ran option 19% and 16% of the time. I wouldnt call option the base. It wasnt even 20% of what we did. -
I wasn’t talking about any guys in particular. It’s just my general view if the staff sees anyone as a non contributor
-
I think the point some of these guys are making is we need quality depth. Someone who comes in and we don’t miss a beat or not much. We don’t need guys on the roster who are bad. It’s a wasted scholarship, wasted reps in practice, time to move on. I hate to say it but it’s a two way street. Players want the portal to leave when they want to do what’s best for them. Programs need to start doing what’s best for them as well

Has he ever called plays in college? When he was OC for chip. Chip called plays- then when he was head coach frost called the plays right? -

I really like the Urban Florida offense. Use Fidone like Hernandez and find your percy harvin- probably had him in Wandale. But gotta find him now
