Gotta do everything opposite of Frost, and that means actually getting along with the media!
-
I fully expect this to get taken care of. Rhule seems to be the kind of coach capable of actually working with the guys and correcting mistakes. I think Simms has potential to have a good season, but only if the offensive line improves. I feel like the success of the season really relies on the OL more than any other position this year.
-
I guess that’s how I meant for my post to come across. I think we will see a team that definitely leans towards the run game, but it’ll look different than what Frost ran with more power run concepts
-
I think we will run the ball differently than Frost did, but idk how much higher of a percentage than Frost's average
-
With our biggest position of need being the OL and the lack of starter or quality backup O-linemen left in the portal I think Rhule and Co are done in the portal this year. Unfortunately they’re going to be forced to role with who’s on the roster and focus on coaching them up the best they can. I hope a full summer with the S&C staff really pays off, but my gut says otherwise

** 2023 Opponent Preview : Colorado (Game 2) **
Gorillahawk replied to TGHusker's topic in Husker Football
It’s a huge risk bringing in 16 new guys after all Spring practices are over and planning on them being your day one starters. Deion better hope that Colorado and its fans are going to be very patient, because it’s likely to be a very rocky start -

Idk how you get rid of this many players and have any depth. I understand Deion is wanting to completely rebuild but 51 is a huge number -
What players leave after the season? 2022/23 version

Their ability to coach up a QB was even worse! -
Coaching vision is like coaching speed. Some kids have it in spades and for others it doesnt matter what you do they just dont have it. It's hard to tell when a kid is in HS if they have great vision or not because they typically are either a lot more athletic than everyone else on the field, or they are playing behind really good Olines that open big holes for them. Then you got to factor in that the speed of Power 5 D1 football is a ton faster than any HS game. Some guys just never catch up

With as poor as the oline play has been I think we’ll see both start out of necessity, but I’d bet Sims start because we can’t line up and run at people effectively with just our Rbs. The Qb run game will have to be a factor the defense prepares for. I wouldn’t be surprised if CT start’s because I think he’s a better true Quarterback, but the oline is so terrible he’ll be running for his life and since Sims is more athletic I see him getting the nod week 1 against Minnesota

Dont underestimate KU with this one. Lawrence is a short drive from Lyndon, and has been gaining momentum in the state

Creighton?

Recent history definitely leans this way. The biggest question for Wisconsin is where is their ceiling with Fickel? I think their ceiling is probably #10 but Nebraska's with Rhule could be higher, but based on recent history, it's going to take Nebraska longer to get there.
-
It had to hurt that everyone knew that Frost was on thin ice before the season started. Rhule not firing his uncle had to help his case
-
I'd assume a lot better NIL deals as well
-
sometimes a new coach breathes fresh air into guys who were close but didn’t get over the hump and next thing you know they make huge strides
-
I think it's two things. They want to live their dream of playing at NU, and they help the university by paying full tuition so why not? I know it's the exception not the rule but it's not unheard of for a walk-on being a late developer/extra hard worker who develops into a legit contributor. It's an almost zero risk investment

*** Matt Rhule Hired as New Husker Head Coach ***
Gorillahawk replied to Mavric's topic in Husker Football
Congratulations on your life changing experience! -
I think there is some OL talent on the team. I think it has been a combo of poor S&C and a poor scheme. I believe that if Rhule has a more aggressive style blocking scheme, and not a catch the defender scheme we have seen the last several years, the OL will look a ton better next year

I'm from SE Kansas right on the MO border and chili with a cinnamon roll was/is a staple here. Hell it's a weekly special at our local restaurant in the winter
