This makes more sense to me - I'm not sure we're willing to push anyone out. Landfair (and probably Lauenstein, depending on if she's fully back to her old form) would be upgrades, but you'd have to move on from someone and there are no more obvious candidates to be shown the door.

I like your list - Obviously it's Raiola and Kaelin, but beyond them: Jeremiah Charles - As you mentioned, he is brought up unsolicited by Rhule a ton. Probably not ready to start this year, but potentially ready to make a splash in the spring. Kwinten Ives - Another guy Rhule brings up a lot, and there will be plenty of carries available in the spring with Rahmir/Ervin probably still recovering. Ru'Quan Buckley - Regarding that open Guard spot, I'm interested to see how he does. Normally a position change this late in your career isn't a great sign, but it's interesting to see a guy who was actually contributing on the DL move - I have to think he's got a shot at Guard or he'd be in the portal. Dylan Rogers - He will need to play a fair amount, and a lot if any of Wright/Gbayor/Bullock miss time. I like the size at LB. Jacory Barney - Interested in all of the early enrollees, but I think he fits a role we don't have. We need playmakers, he's a playmaker. Re: Bell, I hadn't heard the academic thing but that would make sense. The coaches also said he came in at 157 lbs which made it tough to put him out there, but was up to 190+ by the end of the year so I expect him to push for playing time moving forward.

Just from some of the Georgia boards - so it could also be copium. I don't even know who has legitimate information on this board so I definitely don't on other ones, but it makes some sense. Beck is back and their fans really like that Puglisi committed early and didn't even consider jumping ship when Raiola committed. I don't think they completely pulled an NIL deal or anything, just wanted to bring it down a level. Allegedly.

As much as I'd prefer they go to other schools as a fan, it's honestly pretty awesome for them that they have opportunities at other great programs. Not having enough room for all of the talented players is a good problem to have, so I hope they don't get much crap from our fanbase about their transfer choices.

I kinda hate this assumption based on history for Rahmir and Gabe, but unless you tell them they can't come back you do have to assume health to some degree. You aren't going to convince any solid portal RB "these guys will probably get hurt which will free up some snaps," and even if you did I don't think the players would like it. Rhule also seems weirdly confident about Ives, brings him up a lot - hopefully a good sign for if/when we do need the depth. TL;DR, I'd like another RB but understand we only need one if multiple injuries happen and that's a tough sell.

I don't think our NIL offer changed, but sounds like maybe Georgia's did. Which may have been a tipping point when he kinda wanted to play for Nebraska all along.

Essentially walked on in high school (IMG Academy), walked on at Ole Miss, and walked on here. I think he threw <10 passes for IMG's A team, so I think Longval is the better walk on bet.

Sounds like all we need to do is combine Oregon Speed with Husker Power, and I know just the guy! I do agree with you though, I like having a FB as a change of pace but spreading the defense out and making them defend the whole field is better. The spread running game looked pretty great for the second half of 2018.

QB is also just so unique - for a 5-star at most positions, a Marlon Lucky/Cortney Grixby/Baker Steinkuhler outcome (HM/2nd team all-conference) is ok. Not what you're hoping for with that talent but you're still getting a difference maker. But at QB, above-average starter is a huge disappointment for a 5-star kid. Which isn't really fair, but it's the reality of playing QB.

It was just already a small class, and their high school recruiting does not matter for this class in my opinion. Within two years this will either massively crash and burn or be successful - if it's the former Deion will be gone, and if it's the latter they will have solidified their portal-heavy strategy (and Deion will probably be gone). There aren't a ton of high school guys who would make a huge impact over these next two years, they are all in on the portal. Again I do think it will be the crash and burn outcome - I just don't think the outcome depends very much on who they sign out of high school because it's going to be done soon wither way. And they are also recruiting like their success is largely independent of HS recruiting.

Yeah, something's gotta give - probably some of both. Rhule did say a few guys listed at DB are probably going to grow into LBs - I'd assume at least Braylen Prude and Roger Gradney. But just shifting those to project to LB still doesn't reconcile the numbers, it's too many DBs IMO.

I think (especially in the college game) the SF concepts could pretty easily be translated to 3-WR stuff. I'm sure there will still be a lot of 21 and 22, but you don't recruit this many receivers without a plan to play them. We'll see if Satterfield is able to make it more than a gimmick, but there is an appeal to something like a skill package of Coleman, Bonner, Fidone, Nelson, and Emmett - is that 21 personnel, or are we going 4 or 5 wide? You don't need the defense to be questioning that every time you huddle up, but the ability to look like you're following a tendency and then coming out in a totally different formation is nice. Really curious how much Rhule's comments about handing Nelson the ball actually come to fruition. Maybe our short yardage answer now that we're not going to run Raiola or Kaelin into a pile like we did with Sims/Haarberg?

Their transfer class is pretty good - I still think they're going to collapse similar to last year, but it's not really a surprise. They're taking 20 or so transfers each year, and then they'll swing for some big HS recruits. I don't think it'll work but it's also not like they're getting rejected by hundreds of HS kids - they're just not offering that many, and the ones they do have offers to established schools.

Considering we can't win a game for another 9 months, I'll take "winning" whatever we can in the meantime.

Rhule mentioned two of Eric's uncles played for Nebraska - anyone know who they are?

Rhule said he'd either play for us or coach for us in the fall, but there's not really a rush since he can't do anything in the spring either way.

Rhule did say this next class will almost certainly be a small one due to the volume of high school signees in 23/24 and the (good) lack of players leaving. Also mentioned we'll keep our eyes open for an RB in the next few months, but they have it circled as a priority for '25.

Rhule said they consider him a positionless player and they expect him to play WR, TE, and RB. So he's Satterfield's new Jaheim Bell I guess.

I don't think Taumua can sign yet since he's in a much earlier time zone (and he probably isn't awake yet), but I think that's it.

From his interview on the signing day livestream, ate 2 tomahawk steaks at Misty's and then had some Cane's later that night. A true lineman.

That makes a lot of sense - I am all for taking 6'3 guys who run 10.6! But coming off an injury and with limited film he'd probably be a candidate to get dropped from a lot of schools. So getting some NIL money initially but not using up a scholarship during recovery is ideal. One of these years we're going to have to sign a class of like 12 guys though.

He's my pick to be this year's Dwight Bootle, hopefully without the ACL tear. Both small, but Bootle had just worked his way into the two deep as a true freshman - the Bufords (and Bootles) are just good football players.
