  1. Agreed but see above statement (and megathread) about not getting Frost.. things aren't as easy as "come coach your alma mater, everyone will love you" But I don't think Moore stays if KW is gone. I think he does flip to FL St if that's the case
  2. Agreed on KW. I think with his recruiting skill and the fact that pro players come to him in the off season for development definitely says something about his coaching ability. I'd love to see at least KW and Parella stick around if sh!t hits the fan.. I guess it would be if MORE sh!t hits the fan Right now I'm worried Florida will beat us to Frost.. I know this is a frost megathread post but I'm definitely worried we won't get him
  3. Roach with a CB for Florida St... So I know many believe Moore sticks with Nebraska as long as Keith Williams is still on board even if Riley is fired. Anyone else believe that to be so? Or was he so frustrated watching the Northwestern game that he just wants to run as far away as possible.
  4. He's a NJ kid before heading to IMG.. So it makes sense.. Plus he can play right away. "Trust the Process" lol maybe we should've been pitching that to Bookie, TJ and Parsons.
  5. We got a lot of wins with partial qualifiers since back there wasn't a lot of restrictions to them. So these top players like an elijah blades could've been N as a partial qualifier or non-qualifier instead of going to JUCO. So to answer your question... Yes it is hard to bring top talent to Nebraska from all over the US especially when we haven't won a conf title in 15+ years and aren't very competitive with top teams now. Places like FL USC and Texas have under-performed primarily because of the combo of coaching and being able to manage the personalities of such talent. Florida has won big in the last 5-10 years but has issues with players thinking they can do whatever they want, USC has become relevant after getting sanctions removed but deal with the same egos and Texas isn't far off from being where they want to be.
  6. Pretty sure him posting on why the Jet saying to keep Riley is opening up conversation on why to keep Riley.. Not posting why to get Frost.. Now if is there is a KEEP MR MEGATHREAD that I'm missing I think he's good to go! I do agree with JR on keeping Riley. With the schedule and recruiting class we still kind of have it could benefit us in having a wait and see approach. it's not like keeping MR one more year will set us back to the stone-age... right?!
  7. He could rip the "C" off his shirt and drive a couple hours away to his new home where he'll triple his salary, recruit the same area but higher talent players and have the players in place to make an immediate impact.. Hard to pass on all those perks with only having to move a couple hours away...
  8. Haha this is the best damn analogy I've heard in a long time! So fitting for our situation. I wish I could +10 this post
  9. My hope is that if Nebraska does fire Riley and the staff, that whoever the new coach is (most likely Frost) would be smart enough to keep Keith and Donte Williams on as part of the new staff. There's no downside in keeping those 2. It would benefit us in keeping our best recruiting connections and top recruits now and in the future. And then we can really see if they are just good recruiters or if they can actually develop top talent and take those kids to the next level of their game. Plus the new coach can always fire them in the future if things don't work out... Can someone just wake me up when it's December? This season is killing me
  10. Oh I totally agree that Frost can identify talent and potential even if the kids don't have the stars to match. I do think Frost is a great coach and developer of players. I'm good with 3*'s being molded into quality and high end starters and I think we can win the West with that model. But I'd love to see what he can do with top talent like a Micah Parsons, Bookie, Isaah Crocker, Josh Moore, TJ Pledger, etc. Those kids are game and program changers with the right coach and development.
  11. That's my issue with Jessica saying Frost is a great recruiter.. If he was, he would have more than 10 4*'s in 7 years at Oregon when Oregon was at it's peak and the rest of the pac 12 was mediocre
  12. I was only saying that when Frost was at Oregon (the best years Oregon had and when they were competing for NC's) it was easier to recruit top west coast talent to Oregon than it was to bring top talent to Nebraska. Nebraska is a far superior school when we are actually winning. Hell this 2018 class would be amazing if we went 9-3... but that won't be happening
  13. I'm not saying you're wrong about having to battle other schools else where... Nowhere did I say that you were wrong there, I'm saying you're wrong that Frost has a great track record of recruiting top talent (10 4*'s in 6-7 years, when Oregon was the cream of the crop in CFB).. If he did choose Nebraska over Tenn.. yes, he would have those battles with Cali, TX and FL schools going after top talent just as we do now. But if you read that article I posted earlier, Frost said he chose UCF over other programs because he wouldn't have to travel as much and battle out of state schools when there's a ton of talent is in their backyard (FL). Location to the type of players he wants to recruit is important to him. That's why it'll be hard to drag him from the southeast all the way back to Nebraska
  14. Stop trying to make a point by changing my point... I'm not saying Oregon is easy to recruit. It's definitely harder than TN... BUT recruiting at Oregon is definitely easier than recruiting at NEBRASKA which is the school what we are all hoping Frost decides to coach IF/when Riley is canned. Bringing west coast talent to the midwest is definitely more difficult than bringing west coast talent to.. the.. west coast.. And nope I don't recall the speed guy that flipped from USC but flips happen all the time in CFB and when Frost was at Oregon, they were a superior team to USC at the time. Oregon was winning 10-12 games, competing in conference championship games and for national titles. Yes it should have his recruits that transferred, it has the WR's that transferred out of Oregon like Carrington (utah) and the 4 star that transferred to Northwestern (don't feel like looking his name up)...
  15. It's not that impressive when you consider the fact he was at Oregon for 6-7 years and he had 10 4*'s at a program that was dominating the Pac 12 and a top 10 program at the time. So on average he grabs 1 maybe 2 4*'s each year. I say it's not impressive because it's not like he is out there bringing 4 star talent into UCF now and when he was bringing in high level recruits it was very limited when he was at a school winning 10-11 games each year... I'm not hating on him here at all. I think he has an eye for talent even when a kid doesn't have the stars to match. My concern, and original point, is 1) that he would probably choose Tennessee over Neb because it is easier to recruit the talent and type of players Frost needs in his system and 2) to those people saying he is our savior and going to bring us a B1G/ National title.. even if he does come to Nebraska there's not a lot of promise or history to show that he can stock us up on talent to compete with Ohio St, Michigan and Penn St let alone Bama, Clemson or other top 10 schools. I love Frost and think he is one hell of a coach. I would love to see him at Nebraska. I think he would make our team tough, mean and disciplined like we were in the 90's. I'm just expressing my concern with calling him our saving grace.
  16. Scott Frost explaining why he went to UCF and how things have been easier for him there, etc. Yet another reason he will choose a place like Tennessee over Nebraska https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/aac/2016/05/10/ucf-football-coach-scott-frost-central-florida-knights/84171392/ Outside of Freeman, not all that impressive. On average, High 80's to low 90's over several years there.
  17. I love the optimism. I am not saying don't hire Frost so the fans have hope, what I am saying is, if you tell me I am throwing a bunch of money (4-6 mil) at a new head coach. Right now, I'd be trying to lure away a proven winner like a Brian Kelly, Pat Fitzgerald, Chip Kelly, etc before I start offering that money to Frost. Plus, on the recruiting side, you can't really give a whole lot of credit to Frost. He was in a good position at Oregon with a solid program that was winning and at UCF he is just finding diamonds around FL. Recruiting at Nebraska will be a new animal for him. That's why my bet is he leans to Tennessee
  18. Then let me rephrase my question.. even though my other question is still valid... If you're Frost, would you rather.... Go to Tennessee - Get paid, Keep the FL recruiting pipeline he already built on top of the TN current connections AND not have the pressure of Nebraska fans and coaching his alma mater or Go to Nebraska - Get paid, go back home and try to bring your alma mater back to the way it was when he left That's truly what he will be debating when he ultimately makes a decision.
  19. So I'm not going to let this SEC recruiting talk continue. I'm sure there's a thread for that... Maybe on an SEC board, if not here... Back to someone's point of "Frost being a sure thing." Is he? Really? So Husker Nation, what happens if we do hire Frost and he flops? Goes let's say, 6-6, 8-4, 7-5, 7-5.. Do we all just give up hope at that point because people think he is a sure thing to bring Nebraska back to a title contender? Would you rather...... Have Scott Frost hired in December since he is a legend at Nebraska as a player and has a solid coaching resume but a guy who has no HC experience at a P5 level, hasn't recruited at a high level (let alone at a lack of talent area like Nebraska and the 500 mi radius) and risk what little hope we have left in our program on Frost or Hire away another HC at a P5 school (Justin Fuente VT, Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly ND, Pat Fitzgerald TCU). At least if these guys fail the fan's won't lose complete faith in the football gods and we always have that hope of Frost coming back to Nebraska if he proves himself somewhere else first. Just fyi, I was all about Frost being our HC before Riley was hired but now I'm a little nervous putting all my "hope eggs" in his basket
  20. Well... it appears Wiltfong knows what's going on.. Maybe Brian Hightower's dad is right, Bookie has already made his mind up about not going to Nebraska but he just doesn't know how to tell us he's decommitting. To think, it was just a few months ago that the class of 2018 had all this promise and our football season had hope to be a legit West contender... Just a random thought... what happens to our class ranking if/ when bookie and moore decide to go elsewhere?
  21. Well.. The money would pretty much interest anyone besides Saban, Harbaugh and maybe Urban Meyer. The current football program situation would hinder us getting a James Franklin, Dabo Swiney, Jimbo Fisher, etc. Having said that, if you can't lure a top program coach for $10 mil... Then don't spend the money. But going along with your hypothetical... 1. Chip Kelly 2. Brian Kelly (ND Coach) 3. Bret Bielema 4. Scott Frost - IDC what UCF tries to raise for Frost, $10 mil would real him in 5. Me, I'd coach for 10 mil... shoot, I'd coach for 150k and use the rest of that money to hire les miles as my DC and go get the Penn St OC Joe Moorhead
  22. I promise you that Hank Bounds and Ronnie Green and anyone in the room/ on the call when they interviewed Moos ran several hypothetical situations past Moos to see what his response and answers were. Moos is a smart man who has the track record to show major growth at both Oregon and Wash St. He is well aware of the situation he stepped into. So him saying he's not making changes mid-season is his way of saying "Okay, Riley.. You have the rest of the season to impress me and sell me your 'vision'. Let's see what ya got." No brand new AD wants to make a fire/hire situation the first week on the job. So, Moos is really buying himself time to wrap his head around the situation and to fully prepare for the biggest coaching decision he will ever have to make. Moos understands Nebraska and us as fans so let's give him more than 24 hours before getting mad that we don't have a new head coach...
  23. There's a Rivals $ article saying Hufanga has set his visit. I know rumor was for Ohio St. Anyone know if this article confirmed Ohio St? Or is he maybe surprising us this weekend?!
  24. I think you have to keep most of, if not all, the defensive side of the ball. Giving Diaco 1 season to change an entire defense isn't easy and we've already started to see some positive results. Plus, we have strong coaching and recruiting from Parrella, Bray and Donte. I really like what is happening on that side of the ball. Offensively, I say we have to keep Keith Williams. Great recruiter and one of the best WR coaches in football. Anytime you have NFL players coming to train with you in the off-season you are clearly doing something right. I know that's probably unrealistic to keep that many people if MR is fired but that's why I'm in the opinion of keep MR one more year as long as he kicks out Langsdorf, Cav and Reggie Davis. Bet it all on next year. One slip up and he's gone. And that gives our new AD some time to truly assess our football program and the "MR vision" before making the biggest coaching change of his/ her life.
