UNL takes taxpayer funds. Take away the taxpayer funds and they can do whatever in the hell they want to do. Until then, the BoR needs to hold those at UNL accountable to the taxpayers.
by "accountable" you mean teach what YOU want taught..?? this is America my friend.

God forbid that UNL stay beholden to the taxpayers via the BoR.
If these temper tantrums by Carter, Green, Alberts, are the result of being held accountable, then good riddance.
There definitely is a cancer or a rot in UNL and in academia as a whole, but it's not the BOR.
Maybe Sasse will come back to right the ship.
"The 26K crybabies and snowflakes at UNL" which 26k exactly are you speaking of..??
"the state doesn't revolve around UNL." exactly the point that you seem to be missing... the state should not have their political fingers in the university at all..
I always seems to find it odd that the GOP wants smaller government ONLY on issues that they agree with and are constantly "arming themselves" against a government they don't trust...

Sadly this plan was hatched and implemented right under our noses in 2020 and only took 2 years to drive out key players in the UNL Admin. These seats are to be nonpartisan for a reason and the fact that Jim Pillen still thinks he holds a seat is very telling. 4 of the 8 seats (6 year terms) are up for re-election this year and "we the people" can make sure the UNL BoR is not weaponized anymore... if you are in district 3,4,5, or 8 - look to see who is sat and who is running against the incumbent... Sad to see what is happening across the country boil over into our public education spaces in a bad way... (rant over.. thank you)

For clarity.
The last player tried to extend the ball itself over the goal line and not just his body which is why I said...
"It" being the ball. I should have been more specific.
I guess we have different definitions of "extend"..

Zay Flowers had the ball knocked out as he was being tackled, he didn't try to extend it over the goal line like the last player we talked about. This time it was just a good defensive play that caused the fumble.
He absolutely tried to extend

What's the point here? They shouldn't try to maximize revenue at the other two events even if it won't match the spring game which by default can hold roughly 14x more fans? People are going to show up for the spring game to watch Raiola no matter what time it kicks off. Might as well play it at a time where they can hope to entice a couple thousand people to wander over to Haymarket Park. Baseball is playing Iowa (who has won the series over Nebraska way too many times lately), I'd guess they'd get about 5K under normal circumstances which is pretty good, this timing could bump it up over 6K. Win-win.
No way a couple thousand people will walk down to Haymarket for ball.. you may get a few hundred... and we are not just talking about a few extra tickets being sold... the revenue generated in the local bar and restaurant market would be huge...

The tweet said "softball and baseball play that day" guessing that plays a role.
Spring games are your team versus....your team. Nothing to be learned from that, shouldn't read into it ever. Won't know what you've got until the games count.
yes a glorified scrimmage but the revenue generated with that event FAR exceeds those other two events combined...

The issues were on Offense and some Special Teams. You want to ride Satterfield for a few years in an era where talent goes to greener pastures in hopes he comes around?
One of the many knocks on the guy is he is too complex with his playbook. Couple that with this - did you see any improvement from our QB room at all? We have a coach who we want to give more time, in hopes he can be developed, in an era where talent flees in an expeditious fashion, because looking for better coaches and proven commodities is...not the right thing to do?
Satterfield is a weak link in the tied-for-second most important coaching role on the team. Let's now build strategic foundations around this fact and all of this "time" we have for him to come around, fingers-crossed hopefulness, and coins in wishing wells.
Glad he's removed from QB oversight. Next good move will be to remove his play calling duties. Give him more time to come into his own as a budding OC...
Scott..?? Is that you..??

You may have missed my posts. I think Satt should be removed altogether as many on this board wants him "developed," but this obvious sign of non-trust to remove Satt from influencing the most important position on the team, and still keep him as an OC, is mind boggling.
I think its mind boggling that some cant see that there is a difference between coaching QB's and overseeing an offense as well as the benefit of having continuity in that group as a whole.. those that want to out an OC after a first yr start up with all the issues that were faced, boggle my mind... maybe Satt is over his head and maybe Rhule is setting the table for that scenario, only TIME will tell... That is the difference between a good head coach and a knee jerk reaction..

who else would pay up for a 1 yr QB....

I heard part of Dylan flipping was the ability to have autonomy over the offense and call plays on the field. Satt is just a figurehead

With the resources we have, why are we bringing in D tier OC's with an aim to develop them?
Satterfield is not very good. The players and results from his last job would agree.
Someone earlier stated Rhule likes to develop people. Development of a 19 year old kid in readiness for life and a career in sports is different than developing a lead coordinator who's critical in turning a program around.
You think Satt is a "D" tier coach..??
"The players and results from his last job would agree."
His last job, 2 yrs at South Carolina..?? first year having QB injury issues and having to play 4 QB's ending the season with 7 wins then the following season with 8 wins beating Tennessee, Clemson and breaking many offensive production records..??
Satt may not be a splash hire but he obviously has the work ethic that Matt Rhule demands and a coaching style that seems to motivate those under him... He also has 2 years left on a substantial contract and only 1 year working with a very difficult situation in the QB, running back and receivers room last year...
My guess is we will get him some help scheming and with the young men we have brought into said rooms, lets see what he can do with a full cupboard..
This thought about just tossing an OC out after 1 yr is ludicrous and does absolutely nothing towards building continuity which is essential for turning a program around..
JMHO.

So, you're good with a program like Nebraska being a stage for developing top coordinators?
To develop football players you need seasoned, proven coaches. Satterfield isn't that.
Well...... Yes......! Bringing Dana in as a cheap analyst and Glenn Thomas as QB coach and co-OC that covers all the bases for learning AND for further growth if Satt doesnt work out.. Why would you not want to develop the guys that you are already paying as opposed to canning them and STILL paying them..??

Maybe Pillen and the BoR should have already been working with Trev on structure/operational and leadership standpoints BEFORE he got so frustrated that he left his dream job...
