I am paying to start the restoration on a 71' chevy for as a Christmas present for my husband. We drove this truck up to about 6 years ago, when I parked it in the yard because the brakes failed. My husband always said that he was going to fix it up as it has sentimental value. It was his grandfather's truck and he died this week so I thought what a great gift. My question is, how many different people should I contact to restore this truck? A mechanic first for sure, then a suspension person, and then bodywork? Does this sound right? Obviously it needs brake work, but can you guys give some ideas about what else will need to be replaced after sitting so long? I found a mechanic and I am going to have it towed in on Monday.
