I can tell you that many Buckeye fans are not happy with the play calling vs Michigan. Not too many OSU fans are Ryan Day fans today. Oh the problems of one loss teams.
Nebraska once again makes a toothless opponent look like world beaters. Our coaches call offensive plays which are counter to what every other college team uses to beat Purdue. Purdue gave up like 300+ yards per game in rushing. Husker coaches are too cute to do that and went pass happy. For once being a hard nosed QB, Frost is anything but that as a coach these days.
Full time I formation? Nope, but a few more plays like the option pass and counter trey would be okay. College teams seem to have a hard time running the ball into endzone in the shotgun when it's first and goal. So many spread teams use all four downs trying to power the ball in there.
Yesterday I felt sick about the loss. It was the first time after the prior three games that I felt this way which means they had me invested in the outcome. Thing are getting better, but this is a 3-5 year rebuild unless they can develop/recruit younger linemen both O & D and defensive backfield.
Here's a true fact, as the defenses got tougher Bell's production decreased just as Ozigbo's production increased. That has little to do with the coaching and quite a bit to do the players. Oz has been through this before and I am willing to bet his desire to excel was much greater than that of Bell. Each person handles adversity differently and Bell choose to quit and walk away. Good luck to Bell with his future.
Correct, it is our best shot. At some point big losses have got to hurt bad enough that the team decides to never let a game get that far out of hand again. I have been waiting for that point to come since 2001, I can wait longer.
Plenty of Husker fans left early last year against Ohio State and it looked like men were slapping around boys in that game. Minnesota and Iowa games were also forgettable.
