This isn’t the time to take the economical “let’s try to find a good bargain” route. If Nebraska wants to compete with the big boys they’ve gotta be willing to pay big boy salaries.

Don’t get me wrong; I like Mickey Joseph — a lot. We’re both South Louisiana boys and he’s recruited some of our players. That said, I just don’t think he’s cut out to be head coach at Nebraska.

Of the names I've seen mentioned over the past 2 days, my personal preference would be... 1. Lane Kiffin 2. Chris Petersen 3. Dave Aranda 4. Matt Rhule 5. Gary Patterson 6. Jeff Monken

I will be disappointed though if we find out Kiffin didn't come due to $ issues Also rumors are swirling that Stoops may be leaving Kentucky and is eyeballing Iowa (his alma mater) should they fire Ferentz

It's possible that MJ was confident that Aranda was the guy, but perhaps now that has changed... hopefully not. With Aranda it might be about more than just $

Chadwell isn’t going anywhere as an OC. If he’s not hired by GT then he’ll just stay put. I do prefer him over Monken. In regards to Rhule’s recruiting, he now has the NFL pedigree… that goes a long way with recruits.

It’s odd because yesterday the names I was hearing were Aranda, Rhule, and Petersen… yet today the media is reporting the names were Monken, Rhule, and Patterson? Maybe I’m just off (as usual)

The problem is, that formula can only get you so far. If your aspirations are to win the west and compete for the conference crown, then yes it's a successful formula. But if your goal is to actually win championships, that formula isn't going to work.

I'm willing to bet that 90+% of head coaches would prefer Auburn over Nebraska.

From what I heard the new coach doesn't necessarily have to retain him, but that he's guaranteed to get paid regardless of whether he's retained or not. Oops - I see this has already been covered
