I posted this article earlier, but it has a lot of info on the politics going on at Texas A&M as well. It is a long article, but good read. The politicians are definitely not staying out of the way at A&M.

Good interim selection, yes? Curious what others think. also, I think there's a very real possibility that Jamie Pollard will be reached out to or at least I hope so. Kind felt he was who I wanted when Trev was hired. Hope we didn't burn that bridge.
Pollard's health probably isn't the best. He has had triple bypass surgery in 2015. Also, got diagnosed with testicular cancer a couple of years ago.

It doesn't sound like everything is going smoothly at A&M either: https://www.texastribune.org/2023/10/02/john-sharp-tamu-chancellor/

If he was so disillusioned like some here are trying to paint it, why would he sign a contract renewal in November?

I don't disagree that there are issues that extend beyond the AD position. Clearly, there are.
I just think that it's pretty chickens#!t to run away from them instead of trying to be part of the solution.
Yeah, he just seems to bail in his career when presented with obstacles. It is disappointing to see him do it at his Alma Mater that gave him his first chance at being a Power 5 AD. If this were a year into a new president's tenure and he just couldn't find a way to get along with that person, it might be more understandable.

The people that think he wanted to move from Nebraska to Texas to get away from conservatives is an amazing take...

am I the only one besides Larry the Cable Guy that doesn't really care? I know its not a good look for the University in general to have some top positions leave abruptly but, I'm a football fan and as long as the right coach is in place which I believe he is, and the players show up and win games I don't care who the AD is. The only issue I have is that Rhule will be immediately on the hot seat as soon as the new AD shows up. Story as old as time (AD wants to hire his guy).
Rhule was his hire. Rhule isn't exactly known for staying around for a long time at places. The fact that his new AD wasn't the one that hired him will definitely be used by other schools recruiting against them.

Leadership may not be where it needs to be at this particular moment, but it does not the change the fact that Nebraska took a big chance on him with just his UNO background. He basically got the job because he was an alumni. He just signed an extension. He hired a new football head coach just a year ago. They are starting major renovation projects. It was a horrible time to leave and he will justly be remembered for that. He deserves to be remembered as a "turncoat".

Iowa State had just one losing season after Purdy left (and Iowa State had a disappointing year his last year). They are back at a bowl this year despite their starting QB being suspended before the season started.

I'll feel better if we can get Casey Thompson at least as a backup this coming season. We are going to need two starting caliber QBs to make a bowl. Purdy was the best of the 3 QBs we had this year, but he still had two awful game losing interceptions.

That sucks. I was hoping he could be the backup next year, in case Raiola wasn't ready or got hurt.
No one wants to be a back up these days unless they know they have zero shot at an NFL future. I'm hoping Casey Thompson has come to that realization and will return.

They picked the wrong time to have their worst game of the season. They are getting dominated.

They look awful to start 3rd as well.

Texas seems to be getting some real easy points.

Looked good at first in 2nd set, now struggling.

Do you get bombarded with emails asking for more money if you donate? They should give you at least a certificate if you donate so you can pretend to be special like a Packers stockholder.

I like the volleyball team, but they should announce it as soon as they know.

I think having a freshman QB as a starter means another year of no bowling. We need a fast start with how bad the final 5 weeks of the schedule are. Hopefully, Raiola doesn't transfer after a year or two and another team gets the most benefit.

I thought that too until he scheduled a visit to Michigan St.
We'll see, though. This QB recruiting cycle has more twists than any soap opera.
He scheduled that because we are flirting with Dylan yet again. Now, we might end up with neither.

I think Daniel Kaelin would stick with us long term. Even if Dylan comes here, he could be gone in a year or two and transfer elsewhere. We might regret playing around when we had a loyal recruit.

Hopefully, Dylan comes here, but we will have to re-recruit him every year. He is going to work that NIL money.

They need to seal the deal before McCord leaves Lincoln or he probably isn't coming here.
-
It would be great to get McCord, but I'd feel even better about it if he had say 150 yards rushing instead of negative yardage. His longest run last season was 9 yards. Hopefully, our RBs can produce.

His flirting with commissioner job shows me that at best the Nebraska AD job was just a stepping stone for him and he was never long for this job. Even if everything was roses, he wasn't staying here 10+ years if other opportunities presented themselves.
