  1. Which was a huge loss for HM. Hands down the best poster they had and was very well liked by most there. But with his own blog now @HerbiesHangout he can offer his opinions without worrying about somebody looking over his shoulder so it worked out good for us Husker fans that enjoy reading what he has to say.
  2. Spring Talk/NIL/S&C Changes? Lots of interesinting stuff from SSO at Herbie's Hangout
  3. This was one of the reasons I was so disappointed to see Betts leave. With him out that means 4 of our top 5 receivers from last year are gone and the one remaining can't crack the top 3. Hope Martin, Palmer and some of the others can step up. The Kool-Aid has been flowing sweet & red since the first of the year but I'm starting to get the feeling that there wasn't enough sugar and it is tasting a little tart now.
  4. With so many of the top rated instate players deciding to go elsewhere over the last few years I was really hoping we would come in and excel. Disappointed, but it is what it is. Best of luck to Zavier in whatever path he decides to fallow.
  5. One thing I find a bit concerning is the following quote from Applewhite today. Coming off winter conditioning and in his 3rd year in the program I guess I was expecting him to be at little higher level of conditioning.
  6. Good! I've never been a fan of the variegated look that we adopted during the Callahan era if I remember correctly.
  7. This has been a troubling issue that also concerns me. To this point in HCSF's tenure they have only been able to win the opener in 2019 against a Sun Belt Conf. team that ended up 2-10. NW was really bad last year and this should be a very winnable game for NU. But then I though the same thing last year when Illinois kicked our butts which I'm still have a hard time getting my head around.
  8. Joseph offers some impressions on receivers as Husker spring ball moves on
  9. We should know something about Fidone tomorrow since practice resumes after a 10 day spring break so no PC's since the rumored injury.
  10. Probably most excited to see what Grant can do among all the newcomers. His JC highlights were electrifying.
  11. I wish somebody would tabulate the injuries by team in the B1G. All teams get injuries but are some more prone to serious injuries than others? And if so, by how much.
  12. Every time I read this I'm like WTF? You're the head coach. It's your job to take action to correct what you see as wrong and not wait until your had is forced. You're loyalty should to the university and kids to improve the program not to an assistant coach you keep on even though you disagree with his philosophy.
  13. And back then playing at DONU was an honor and the ultimate goal for a lot of kids, especially in-state or bordering states. With the state the program has been in for the last 20 years and especially the last 7 years we are having a lot harder time just getting the kids to come to NU even with scholarship offers which would have been unthinkable in the '90's.
  14. They probably signed a contract to play the game and I doubt "we don't want to play it now since we don't think we can win because it is outside the USA" is going to get them out of the contract. So we either play the game as scheduled and let the chips fall where they may or forfeit, take the loss and move on. And I never thought I'd see the day when we were too scared to play NW because we might lose no matter where the game is played. I think it will be a great experience for the players and staff. Probably an opportunity some will not have in their lifetimes.
  15. I've been hearing he is high energy individual and this clip seem to confirm that. Seems like the kind of guy the players would like playing for. I'm really hoping these new coaches can light a fire under the team.
  16. He's have probably been better just keeping his mouth shut or lying about a close competition up until the day of the first game. I've already seen a bunch of b!^@hing about Thompson being No. 1 (for now) but do people really think they brought in the starting QB from TX last year to sit on the bench?
  17. It was so refreshing to get a straight answer to a question like that instead of the usual coach speak that you normally hear.
  18. Another year, more presers, and they still haven't figured out a way for to questions to be heard. Ugh.
  19. When your team has had losing seasons 6 of the last 7 years (the only winning season under a coach everybody hates) with a combined record of 34-48, hasn't been to a bowl since 2016, turned down the opportunity to play in bowl in 2020, is coming off a the worst year in Husker Football history since the Bill Jennings era 60 years ago and has been overall poorly coached under the current regime it is hard for most people to be very optimistic. A lot of people are at the point where they take the yearly hype with a very large grain of salt and want to see some results on the field.
  20. Looking at the mediocre play of the OL the last few years hopefully this approach will lead to much improved play. It couldn't get a whole lot worse.
  21. I was like WTF when I saw that. Maybe they are still mad at us for trying to hire away Houston Nutt
  22. I think they already do. When a coach is fired it is the boosters that pony up for the buy-out cash. No reason they can't contribute to the new coaches salary. Maybe they can't pay directly but there is no reason they can't come to a private arrangement with the AD that if coach XXXXX is hired they will make a yearly contribution of $X,000,000.00 to the athletic dept. with the understanding it will go to supplementing the new coaches salary.
