An athletic freak no doubt. He would probably been at Nebraska his entire career if the frost out Rhule in could have happened a year earlier. Athletically reminds me of Phalen Sanford, off the chart combine style stats. Size wise could play inside or out as an LB on the smallish side. Really seems like a Rhule kind of guy, fast and athletic and can be taught how to play “college football”.

I’m not sure that Lenhardt is truly considered an edge. It’s hard to define an “EDGE” anymore, so not saying you’re wrong. He should have graded out close to the top of whatever they consider his position to be for freshman. EDIT- looks like he is listed as an EDGE in PFF, shows what I know.

Recently saw some talk about Sam LaPorta being the best TE in the NFL this year. He was a stud at Iowa and did great in the league this season. Got me wondering what his dimensions were out of HS. He was a 6’4” 208 pound wide receiver in HS and only rated a 3 star. (Star rating isn’t my thought here) Nelson has similar dimensions and a higher star rating- which at this point I equate to athletic ability. If Nelson grew to be Sam LaPorta I would be ecstatic, we could use a strong TE rep in the NFL. The other note here is that I feel like the TE spot is the hardest to project from HS to the NFL. Plenty of college position change TE have been successful in the NFL. Just seems like a hard position to peg until the player has matured. Super excited to see what Nelson can do in the future.

When he originally transferred to Texas he was considered a major get 4 ⭐️. He got hurt and didn’t show his potential at Texas. Bottom line: he is experienced and had a really high projected ceiling at one point. Hopefully he can prove that ceiling to be true. If not, hopefully he can be a consistent pass catcher for the younger guys to learn from and pull his weight on the field.

From the looks of it we are going to run out of #15 jerseys to give these guys.

Wallin was a JUCO guy, more of a normal recruit than a transfer portal guy. Knaak seems young and that he will contribute soon. Borders played a fair amount but definitely didn't stand out. I agree with you, going to the portal should be someone who is more of an instant impact guy, or a game-changer. I think we just ended up with guys who were rotational guys, or improvements over the options of a freshman wideout.

Just curious.. since we missed out on the extra 15 practices for a bowl game. What kind of rules are in place to keep the roster from meeting and running their own “practice”. With maybe some coach suggestions. Kind of like the voluntary High school practices in July, that coaches can run as “camps”. If the upper classmen are intent on winning, what is preventing them from doing this for next year? this is a question more than anything….

At this point, I'm not sure why we don't have another RB commit. We should at least be pursuing somebody else. I don't want to lose this guy, but this year showed the need to have 3-4 RB's in the stable and prepared to play. I feel like we need another, (maybe portal guy), aside from Kewan. But we need to do anything and everything to keep this kid in the fold.

Houston Christian University, was Houston Baptist University up until 2022. Only reason I am familiar is because Lance Berkman (Big Puma) is the Baseball Coach at the school now.
