  1. Hmm.. Didn't know this but Tyrus (former NWA Champ) was a graduate of Kearney State. I also learned he once said "upon graduating I left in a rush because I couldn't afford the gown". Who knew???

  2. Hate to admit this but I think the whole of Husker nation is collectively holding their breath in waiting to see if Nebraska can earn the double-by at the B1G tourney. Bench is going to be huge in this game.. Wilcher, dude.. Hope you have your best game ever!!

They pulled it off in spades! I love seeing Husker basketball relevant.

@TonyStalloni As do I and everyone on Huskerboard. Was so relieved though when the score was out of reach for Michigan.

  3. Big Saturday for Husker Sports.. Should be fun!! Penn State/Purdue/Texas Tech/Montana & Sacramento State

Hoping for 5 W's and a whole lot of smiles!! GBR

  4. Ha, so in my boredom I looked back at Solich's final season here. Funny how that team played 2 common opponents (Colorado & Michigan St.) and one other B1G 10 team (Penn State) off the 2023 schedule. Then the husker's went 3-0 against those 3, last year.. well, 0-2 but we all know Penn St would have owned us. My how times changed.

  5. Well.. here we go... no excuses, just prove it!! Win baby, Win!!!!!

    GBR!!!!

  6. As a child I can remember how at the first sign of snow falling we'd run outside, stick out our tongues and dance with joy. As an old man now I run out the door, nearly wet myself from the cold, hold my fist up and stick my tongue out to say "screw you snow" and go back inside with my tail tucked between my legs. My how our lives change as we age.. What once was celebration now becomes dread. :'(

Not for me! When I see the first frost/snowflakes I’m singing Hallelujah! Because all of the things I’m allergic to are DEAD and I can finally BREATHE! Ahhhhhh!

  7. Matt Rhule, Dude can breath fire!! This quote of his (taken from the 247 write up) has me juiced!! (especially the bolded)

    Quote

"That they were just in the moment, instead of feeling sad that they just drove the ball down, they went out there and they just played. It wasn’t effort, as much as it was like, ‘What’s next? Play the next play. Just keep playing.’ And that’s what I’m talking about, like, don’t worry about what happens at the end of the year, don’t worry about what people are saying about you, don’t worry about the score, just play football. You’re a Cornhusker, play football."

  8. The weekend is here and come Sunday Dear old NU will be in the winner circle. 34 - 10 win!!! Gotta Believe Peeps.. Gotta Believe!!! GBR!!!!

@ZRod IIRC they wore it against Illinois in Lincoln with McCaffrey playing QB.

The road uni we see in the video (with white jersey & black pants) would have looked cooler IMO.

  10. Watching the Iowa/Kentucky game... Both offenses are offensively disgusting!!!

Iowa is awful.  But you do realize that Kentucky is right next to West Virginia and Louisville, right ?!??

@admo I didn't say anything about them moving near me, I'm like 500 miles from the nearest Whataburger.

  12. It's not the koolaid, I woke this morning to a vision of 38 - 34 and the huskers dancing on the sideline. It's happening, we win this one.

Yeah, on my planet the Huskers win every game. JK. It’s too bad. They started out strong but it seems like they don’t know a good thing when they have it! They had a good running game going then switched to passing? Why? I just don’t get that.

@funhusker - talking about a scary dream, run mate run as fast and as far as you can!!

Wow... boy was my dream WAYYYY off.. :(:wtf

  13. Mickey is awesome!!! His comment to Casey "you throw with your right"... I laughed and thought "yep, that's the mentality of a Osborne option QB" So refreshing to listen to a coach that is so comfortable in his plan. Cordial, Caring, Inviting, Genuine, Respectful but Real... Love listening to Mickey speak.

  14. Wonder who made the call on our fumble. Announcers were even shocked that it wasn't over ruled. Going to be a very long season of biased officiating again.

    1. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

It is difficult to overturn a call without conclusive proof. I agree it looked like his knee was down before the ball came out. I also agree it probably would have been overturned if OSU was playing.

  15. Forum question... when you quote to  two different people do you do it in the same post or post the first quote and reply then post the second quote and reply? (I posted the first and while I was responding a person posted and I posted a second..) Is that double posting and bad etiquette?

Multiquote is the + sign at the bottom. You can quote multiple different posters and it will put them all into your post to reply to them. Idk what you're talking about doing

    3. desertshox

      desertshox

Given the hit or miss with the multi-quote function, you just gotta do what you gotta do. If it works, use it. If it doesn't, quote each one individually.

And now I want to see someone quote 10 posts individually just so they have all the posts on a page.

    4. Toe

      Toe

Multi-quote works fine for me most of the time, but occasionally I'll click the + and it does nothing. Sometimes refreshing the page will make it work.

  16. Watching the "Sites & Sounds" videos of fall camp and wow... there seems to always be high energy in the defensive players during drills. The offense though, not so much. Where's there energy and is it just me being pessimistic?

    1. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

I think O linemen tend to be a little more reserved and focused on the block where defensive guys play like someone put atomic balm in their jock.

    2. Loebarth

      Loebarth

@TonyStalloni - lmao... we used to initiate freshmen with atomic balm and sadly, now students get expelled for doing it. Oh the good ole days!!! Good Memories indeed!!

@The Dude - who said it should infuriate you? Personally it makes me want to run through a wall for the coach. My post was in assumption that others feel the same.

    3. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

@LoebarthI agree with @The Dude your saying of "making my blood boil" is universally thought of as being infuriated.  Also, I don't know how long it has been since you have played football, but seeing an online video of football practice and you getting so worked up that you would "run through a wall for the coach" is a bit odd.

  18. This is the most Toxic fall camp media I've EVER seen. It's nauseating. I'm so disgusted with the media that I ended my sub to the OWH and have decided to refuse to listen to any local journalist (hater). If s#!tel is on 1620 I turn the station. This s#!t show of journalism is absolutely sickening.

@Loebarth I get the frustration.  But sports journalists have always been "commentators" on top of being "reporters".  People can get stats and roster news from Huskers.com.  But opinions (good or bad) are what drives the media.  We either love their opinions, or love to hate them.  Either way, they are successful.

If coaches don't give them something to write about, they will have to find something to fill their columns.  Not writing about the Husker football team  won't cut it in Omaha/Lincoln.  Especially during the season.

    4. Enhance

      Enhance

The truth of the matter is that journalists and media organizations know what people like and listen to, and now more than ever, they're basing their content strategies off of clicks, pageviews and subscription purchases. Their strategy may have lost you Loebarth while gaining them 10 new subs.

That's also why people like Stephen A. Smith are some of the highest paid sports personalities in the business. He drives clicks and views and makes them money. It's a vicious circle my dudes.

  19. I was talking to a certain Omaha Metro coach this weekend and he stated he hoped Nebraska could begin getting old. I didn't understand his statement and asked him to clarify. He pointed out in today's NIL, he thinks successful programs will target 3 star and project lineman (both sides of scrimmage) to avoid transferring and lower the NIL required costs. Thoughts? Never heard "getting old" on the lines before.

You see it at the HS level too...9th and even 10th graders almost never go up to varsity to play the line, they have to be freaks.

    3. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

Why wouldn't you target 4-5 star players and hope that you get old on the line?

    4. Loebarth

      Loebarth

I think the coach was in the opinion that today's 4 & 5 star players believe they shouldn't have to wait and therefore if they aren't starting they'll transfer out. Could be wrong but I think he just felt it best to get old on the lines, recruit 3 star and project players. Kind of makes sense if the university is wanting to lower it's NIL costs I guess.

  21. Sometimes it's just hard to be positive especially when this world is so Upside Down!! Man it'd be nice to see a husker baseball victory this weekend. I'd settle for a series win at this point.

Oops... it's one game and only the first series. Additionally, it's a very competitive team that is accustomed to playing high level competition. Teams from both the SEC and Big 12 to mention a few. A split in this series is in itself nothing to hang our heads on. I'm not going to say "oops" for one game of the seasons first series. Instead, I'll gladly and cheerfully support our young men and the staffs. Go Big Red!!
