  1. lol, some teams make me scratch my head. Like today and Notre Dame throwing its Friday starter for the first 3 innings (50 TP, 12 batters faced). Why when your weekend opponent is a conference game and is playing very competitive baseball against very respectable competition? Grant it, they are facing a B1G team (Purdue) that will likely have a reasonably good RPI at years end but they're home, with a 3 set conference match this weekend. Surprises me..
  2. Michigan beat Wisconsin at home and this is their senior night. Nebraska will get Michigan's best in this game. Hope they have their big boy pants on. I expect this to be an old school physical game and we all know how the B1G refs protect the home court. Husker 3's will be needed to win this game.
  3. South Alabama is currently 10-2, seemingly (though mostly lower level competition) a good pitching group. Offensively, they manufacture runs old school. Overall they're team OBP is very respectable at .426 while allowing only opponent OB% at .315.. 24 stolen bases in 35 attempts (again old school gaming) is very respectable. Only 8 dingers on the year. Weather projected to be cooler this weekend Friday 49° with 40% showers, Sat 51° (expecting a doubleheader here) and Sunday 59°... I expect this weekend series to be pitchers duels in game 1 & 2, the Sunday game might be different however South Alabama isn't giving up runs on Sunday either.. We need another sweep here. Then a 2 game midweek series with Wichita State where at worst we need a split. If we do that, head into the final weekend of non-conference with a 11 - 4 (at worst) record I will be elated!!
  4. That was a fun, hard fought, never a doubt game... Hope all our Sunday games are as entertaining. Congrats on the sweep!!! GBR!!!
  5. These 150+ pitch games is happening far too often in college ball (Nebraska threw 148, CofC threw 156) and it's not just a few games. I don't know if it's umps with shoebox zones or umps that simply can't keep a consistent zone but it's become a huge issue. Teams pitching staffs by mid season are going to suffer. I noticed 3 years ago, it was bad last year and this year it seems like well over half the games I look at are throwing 135+... As for this game, we won in the 9th again. Lot of people will say we won ugly. I won't.. I think 9th inning wins are more common with how games are being called at the plate. Also, you have to push runners across home to win so to me, winning is winning. Good win against and underrated opponent that prior to this weekend was unbeaten. We took the series now it's time to sweep it. Congrats Huskers & GBR!!!
  6. Hmm... can you say "Running Scared"
  7. Per Huskers.com, game canceled today due to weather. Glad we played (and won) yesterday.
  8. I'm kicking myself right now as I wasn't able to listen to the game or watch live scoring. Sounds like it was a heck of a 9th for the good guys. Games like this are huge for a teams confidence as well. Hopefully it continues through the weekend. Would love to see the Huskers come home with 3 in win column again. That said, I didn't get to listen, is Charleston's pitching as good as it must have appeared or were the bats just not working today? Guys swinging at balls or early count popups?
  9. @Mavric or anyone in the know, are they keeping the same weekend rotation or might our lineup change. I'd really like to see Freshman Noah Madsen get a Sunday start on the bump. Noah can hit 90 with his Fastball, throws the very reliable and respectable curve that tops out at around 86 and has a slider to compliment the curve as an out pitch. Kind of surprised we haven't seen him. Maybe they're redshirting Noah.
  10. @nic I found the tweet because I click on the original. The comments on the one I posted though were hilarious to me so I thought I'd let others enjoy the read too.
  11. This is a fun POST regarding Texas A&M moving to the B1G.. The comments made me chuckle and one really made me chuckle.
  12. He's a freshman with a 3.0 era... I like that Personally, my pitcher of the weekend vote would go to Drew Christo.. (I know you didn't say Jalen was the pitcher of the week) My personal opinion (worth less than a bag of peanuts) is GCU managed to rattle us yesterday and today. That can't happen again so it might be a good thing they did. I think winning 3 at their complex says something. Indiana and Nebraska have played solid competition and have won. Penn State looks good with what they did to Stanford but I also think Stanford is down. They play a 4 game series against davidson next week followed by a midweek game against virginia so we'll know soon enough how good Penn State is. The B1G is lacking in pitching. Might be early arm syndrome but the pitching is way down. Gotta say my 4 best in B1G: Indiana 1 (they look like a host team right now) Nebraska 2 (had the Huskers won one of the tech/OU games they too would look like a host team after winning 3 this weekend) Penn State 3 Purdue 4 (Rutgers is interchangeable with them)
  13. At the start of the season, several posters agreed that "if" the arms were as good as advertised/showed in the fall that Nebraska could be much better this year. That said, the B1G overall isn't showing much of the same improvement as exemplified by yesterday's finals. (6-7 on Friday night won't cut it) Right now, if the weekend continues as it has I'd imagine that Indiana & Nebraska will be the new favorites over Iowa/Maryland/Rutgers. Gotta keep winning though. Need this game today. GBR!!
  14. @ZRodYou obviously aren't a believer and so you freely give your opinion. Me, I am a believer and find everything you said very offensive. To begin with you slander only Christianity and ignore the other faiths.. I call that (not you ZRod, rather the commonly intentional singling out Christianity) a cowardly statement/mistake/fear of offending other religions. Secondly, you don't differentiate between the difference in "faith" and "religion". I know it's a common perception/mistake/lack of understanding in the "non-believers" mind/dialog but they are actually very opposite. Religion is filled with doctrine of which much of that doctrine is "judgemental" and in that causes much of the sentiment you ( @ZRod) posted. Yeshua Hamashiach (Jesus, The Christ) confronted religion twice and in both he crushed the concept. Religion's purpose, as Matthew 23 reveals, is to put a wall up between you and God thereby closing the gates of heaven down. One other reality that people misunderstand about Christ's teaching. Christ did not stand against the Romans and Roman Authority, nor did he stand against the Hebrew people or the non-believers (called Goyim). Rather he confronted the authority that used law to create difference and indifference. The reality of law is judgement. The question is, on who and how or more appropriately whom will it be applied too. Yeshua (Jesus) taught (Matthew 7) That judge and be judged. Still, it's not far reaching to wonder how many will read my post and not actually research it. As for the law, it is clearly stated in Galatians 2:16-22 and thru my faith in the Blood Sacrifice of The Lamb (Christ Jesus) let me close by saying this. Jesus preached the only way to the Father is thru the Son. Christians around the world, myself included, know God's voice. The law is judgement and judgement is condemnation and if you want to truly understand my post and how it's being applied at this moment in time do some research and look into a law "HJ RES 102.14 "Education Day USA" (educating us in "their" law) entered into our lands on March 20, 1991 (in a secret vote, after sending congress home for the spring holiday they ratified this law).
  15. Impressive outing for Christo. Timmerman might be finding a season long position, got the last 4 outs and didn't give up a hit. In all... very impressive outing.
  16. It would be really exciting for me if Nebraska could get into a 4 year cycle of playing the same 2 "High Level/Caliber" out of conference opponents. (ex: Home/Home with GCU this year and next 2024/2025. In 2026/27 do a Home/Home series with a team like Charlette (or other historically strong G5) and rotate these opponents every two years. Selfish reason I'd like to see this is regional play. These two opponents have both hosted regionals in the past 4 years. If Nebraska wants to solidify it's hosting position then the Huskers need to play a schedule where they are positioning favorably with the ncaa regionals committee. Yes, arguably, with the addition of USC/UCLA/Washington/Oregon that is probably enough competition however... if the Huskers play a home/home with a high end G5 team and win the series... makes it hard for the committee to grant the host regional to the loser if both teams are in consideration. (at least I imagine it so)
  17. Here's the weekend schedule from Huskers.com
  18. @Xmas32 - GCU might be the best team we face this year. They don't lose at home very often and if Nebraska's arms aren't top notch GCU will put up huge numbers. Very surprising that Bolt and company schedule a 4 game series against GCU. Splitting this series is a win imo.
  19. Christo.. now that's a pleasant surprise.
  20. Did they somehow figure out how to "force" Notre Dame into a conference and if so, which one? Might Notre Dame give the middle to both the B1G & SEC and join the Big 12? Doing so (the middle finger) would be a huge boost to either the Big 12 or ACC. Likely "not" happening but still.... fireworks baby! FIREWORKS!!!
  21. @teachercd I really like the non-conference scheduling thru 2029.. I think it positions the Huskers for post season if they do their part by winning. It doesn't ever make sense to overschedule and remove your chances at post season play. The 2028 schedule will be Rhule's 6th season, really liking our schedule.. "If" the Huskers can get back to championship caliber play, what ever that is, (ie.. running power, pro-set, read option etc...) 2028 could & should be a year of anticipation around these parts.
  22. Make fun of the SEC all you want (I'm sooo guilty of ridiculing the SEC) but below is Tennessee's 2024 schedule.. Tell me you'd like this over Nebraska's current 2024 schedule:
  23. Here's the 2025 thru 2029 Schedule. Note: 2 neutral site games with Cinncy and 1 Road game with Tennessee. Doubt there will be any effort to change the schedule from it's current. 1 Power 5 road team and 2 neutral site games with Cincinnati doesn't seem like "over scheduling" to me while also putting together some interesting lesser games. Ohio, North Dakota, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, Arizona are all games that we can't overlook and would be awesome venue games to attend.
  24. In all, I'd say it was a good weekend. We knew going in we didn't have a developed and proven closer. The offense will need to carry this team again this year. It's frustrating that Bolt seems to struggle finding closer arms. Why could Erstad/Silva find them but Bolt/Childress can't is a head scratcher to me. Maybe it's not as bad as we think either. First weekend is always a dogfight. This weekend will reveal a lot more of what we can expect to see this year.
