What did we learn? Northwestern Version

I learned, Jake Butt is going to be a good commentator. I learned I could switch the channel and come back and would not miss anything of substance. I learned my post last night saying that I "kinda liked the alt uni"...was not accurate. I continued to see, at the end of the day, we are getting better, even if it's by inches. -
Honestly, think they look alright...full disclosure, I wear mismatched socks all the time

Does NU have a chance in the B1G West?
UniversalMartin replied to Red Five's topic in Husker Football
Ha!!...literally just came to this and clicked on topic and thought "honestly, maybe I do now" while waiting for it to take me to last page of comments and I run into this gem -
Much like when a DL can create pressure 4 on 5..an OL that can neutralize pressure 5 on 4/5, you have a very solid OL foundation. We need OL. We need to be a school that goes heavy on NIL for OL with Omaha Steaks funding it. Come be an OL at Nebraska and free steak for life!

For me it's simple. Defense is about 1) scheme and 2) players. Offense is about 1)players and 2)scheme.

That's a good take...with all that has happened, an average O we would likely still lose vs CU and most definitely lose vs Michigan..but likely beat Minny and sitting 4-2 with the schedule we have remaining would feel good...f#&%ing Minnesota

The guy seems to be progressing in his reads, at minimum starting to recognize more than the 1st option on throws...just needs to dial it in.. Frankly, I think Joe Ganz over the long stretch..which would be nice!!

I learned my "the universe is just out to get me" thinking on Husker football...might...might...be taking a turn for the positive. Legit thought we were going to absolutely blow this game, 100% thought "s#!t!!"...but we made plays, something we obviously lacked over the years, even the O showed, at least for me, some "structure" overall (minus the TO's), they just seemed more intentional. 100% could be a bi-product of Illinois being s#!tty...but it seemed more than just that, which is a good thing.

I look at it this way. We are not seeing "smoke screens" of "implied improvement" by this staff...we are seeing the real deal in where we are at. Iam far more confident in this build then I have been from Riley to Frost. Bo, had the ability to coach, but his ridiculous persona was his downfall...like it or not, you need an adult to coach your team, or it gets toxic (Pelini). I hate where we are at, but optimistic in where we are going to be.

I am just happy we are seeing some semblance of building blocks, whether it be mentality or structurally, there is mortar that is starting to set and not just gloop out the seams

What did we learn? Colorado edition

We are a P5 historical Blue Blood and our QB situation over the past 20 years has been akin to a High School team that their starting QB is also the starting D-Tackle -

Oh the hope I had when it was 13-7 and they had 3rd and long -
As a former ref, albeit HS basketball, there was not one time I cared about who won...with that said, it's not big time or just College in general. I just know refs and a vast majority on the HS level I worked with just wanted to call a good clean game.

I learned my wife is starting to genuinely believe she is the jinx to Nebraska, we met in 03.

Yeah, not understanding anyone who would think going for the TD then was a bad choice...100% believe the coaches said, " you got 3- 4 seconds to throw it, has to be in the zone or thrown away...we will kick the FG if incomplete"...just a poor decision on Sims part

Oregon & Washington to the B1G - Clemson & Florida State Next?

Preaching to the choir my man...for all the great things Few does, his loyalty to starters is a work area. There were many times this year GU had double digit leads with under 4 to go, game well in hand and he had Timme, Strawther and starting guards still on the floor. We lost not just Hunter but as well as Dominick Harris to the portal this year likely because of stuff like that.

As a GU fan....we are bummed...the dudes a get. With that said, iam a Husker at heart, so hell yeah!!!!
