  1. You never really know how a QB is gonna develop. Thats why it is good we have so many guys with potential, we do need at least 1 or 2 of them to develop well though. I'm not worried about our QB selection, i just hope Frost plays the best guy for our team, whoever it is. After last year it is just hard for me to envision AM being a great QB, i will be pleasantly surprised if he is. Based solely on my instincts, i just have a feeling Luke could lead us to a very high place. Nothing more than my instincts, but sometimes we know more subconsciously, than we do consciously. Usually their is a reason for your instincts even if you dont understand why.
  2. We definitely have the best QB room Nebraska has had since probably the 90s. The one thing that could derail that is if both AM and Luke dont develop well. As good as AM looked as a freshman, I am just concerned with how aweful he was last year. Hopefully it was just a bad year, but if not I really like Luke. It was a very small sample size to judge Luke on, but even if he Isn't a great passing QB (based on his small sample size he threw it very well), i like his attitude, and i think that is just as important in a QB. I just know we would always put up a good fight with him. Alot like with Tommy Armstrong. I feel the attitude of the QB permeates to the entire team. Vedral is pretty dang good for a 3rd stringer.
  3. You make a good point, i was a lil salty lastnight.
  4. Good point, i thought he was listed as a WR. While not a typical RB, he definitely is on that top level i thought we need. It kinda hurts my argument though haha.
  5. Some of this isn't Nebraska's fault. Farm kids dont grow up with the same type of physical labor as they did 20 years ago. And there is less farm kids in general. You can thank advances in technology for both of those. At this point, their are more "country-strong" kids coming from the southern states, on smaller farms, than in Nebraska. Hell Iowa has more. Nebraska is mostly corn and big a$$ ranches. Corn farmers dont have to be strong with todays technology. And our ranches are so big that their are not that many. Edit: Wisconsin seems to produce the type of kids Nebraska once did. Hog and dairy farms require more strength than corn.
  6. I will happily eat these words, but I find it laughable when husker nation is excited about borderline 3/4 star Runningbacks. I mean Iowa's freshman RB looked better than any of our young guys. Compare that freshman RB to Rahmire Johnson, and its not even a comparison. I like what frost has recruited overall, but lets not pretend our RB's are top notch (as far as we know)
  7. Riley and co really recruited poorly at RB. But i do give him credit for realizing the potential of Jano...which Bo somehow missed
  8. I will admit i didn't watch alot of football Ozigbos Senior year. But was he faster than Mills? Mills is pretty fast. Also 3rd or 4th string may be a bit of a stretch, but in the 90's our RBs were on a different level than we recently have been getting. We really could use a great RB, and by the recruiting rankings we have very underwhelming backs for a school that wants to compete at the highest level. I don't expect us to get a top 5 back these days, but a top 10 back every 2 or 3 years should be doable here.
  9. I dont follow Volleyball so I dont know how the transfer #s look. But going off what @Knapplc said, it looks like poaching goes on quite a bit even at Nebraska. If they are taking 1 or 2 transfers a year in a sport where only 15 players can dress for a game, that translates to 5-10 transfers per year in football. Thats not taking into account that there are assumedly more top Volleyball players who prioritize their education and school/friends than they do their Volleyball careers. Hence less likely to transfer to a new school just to have a chance to play for a Championship. Where as football, the best college players have their future career, and millions of dollars on the line. So if transferring schools gets them more exposure, or chance to play for a Championship, or show they can compete against the best, or go to a school that has the presumed best coaching to help their game, it can effect their entire future. And football is typically their #1 priority, where as in Volleyball the #1 priority is typically their degree or just the love of the game. Point is its definitely not an apples to apples comparison.
  10. I guess it's possible you're right. I just feel that would happen quite often. Especially when paired with the money aspect.
  11. Volleyball is different. For 1, we dont need to poach others very often cause we recruit the best straight from the beginning.. In football you have a much larger roster , so their is more reason to take a transfer. If Nebraska had no players good enough to make an Alabama or OSU starting lineup then it wouldn't happen. But when we do, are stars would possibly be poached by someone. Last year we wouldn't have much worry, but what would keep LJax from going to OSU? And when we do get good players aka Sue or Lavonte David, they would be approached by at least a few top schools...and likely half of them will transfer. My point is College football/basketball are a different animal than Volleyball.
  12. I just feel very strongly that people aren't looking into the collateral effects of this. This would change the game way more than letting players make money off of their likeness.
  13. I somewhat agree with you. Basically the RB room is a mystery to us right now. We only know Mills, the rest of the guys could be great, or they could be busts. It is not often where a school like Nebraska has only one non-freshman RB. And he is a Juco. We need at least one of these young guys to be a huge hit. And i wasn't that impressed with Johnson, but it was way too early to tell. I do really like Mills though.
  14. Agree. First of all, this shouldn't be about wether it helps Nebraska or not, like many people are making it. Either way its bad for the game, and if Nebraska happened to win a championship by being the best at poaching recruits or by paying them more....i wouldn't even value that trophy. Secondly, Husker fans who are seeing the benefits to Nebraska, probably wont like it so much when they see Ohio State and Alabama poach our next Lavonte David, Suh, Ameer Abdullah, our star QB who Clemson now says they want etc. All of a sudden we are out a QB and recruiting season is over. Our only option now is to poach someone else QB. Revolving door.
  15. Agree. If this happens the effect of it, combined with the paying of college athletes (which that part, i am fine with)., will make the NFL liked for the reasons college ball is at the moment. I bet you the NFL wants this.......cause it will take the main reason people prefer college sports, and turn it on it's head. There will be no reason to prefer college sports.....which will profit the NFL and NBA even more. Anyone who can't see this is playing the fool.
  16. It would be better for us than a Purdue or even a Minnesota or maybe even an Iowa. But not as good for us as an Alabama or Ohio State. We would get some solid kids, but we would lose many of our best players to those above us like Clemson, Bama, OSU, etc. It would just amplify where everyone stands. We wouldn't be able to compete for a championship. And Illinois and Purdue wouldn't be able to compete with us, nomatter who the coach.
  17. Football and basketball would not work fine. How is a "lesser" school supposed to have a chance, when even if they develop or find diamonds in the rough, those guys get poached by a championship contender because they want to play for a championship. Ex: Steph Curry at Davidson, Duke says hey u can come here now. Most guys would probably jump at that. Or say Lamar Jackson got asked by Ohio State...he leaves cause he may as well play for a championship instead of hoping for a bowl. Bye bye parity. Whoever is on top now would likely stay on top forever. I dont like it at all. If they really want to transfer they can sit a year. Im fine with players being paid, but im not fine with this free transfer market.
  18. If we're 7-0 i will be excited! That would mean we're a good team, idc who we play.
  19. Maybe for once they will decide to let their play do the talking. I would love a slow-play of the matter. Within the team they can talk it up, but to the media they should talk about how they are really not making as much progress as theyd like, we're gonna struggle a bit this year, we are still a couple years away etc. And then comeout on gameday and surprise the opponents. The reverse of whatever we have done, should work.
  20. Just curious what part of southern oregon your in? I spent some time in the Reedsport area, and Roseburg and down by CoosBay and such.
  21. Remembering Osborne and Solich brought back tons of memories. Do any of you remember the time Osborne got wind that a young Ferentz was in Omaha speaking with Ahman Green?? Solich drove his a$$ to Central High in Omaha, caught Ferentz speaking with Ahman and apparently sucker punched him from behind. One of the janitors from Central (forget his name) said that Frank and Kirk agreed to a dual. Frank apparently won and Ahman ended up choosing Nebraska. The janitor said that Frank, "he looked him square in the windows of his soul and said "best man for keeps". I thought someone was gon' done dead. Both those men had that look u hear. Then Frank..he just done gone and tackled that man into the desk there. That boy from Iowa man i thought he was done right there but he just start swingin and Frank took one man. When i say he took one i mean he TOOK one. To this day i do NOT know how he stayed with it man. Then Frank, he grabbed a chair, and these were solid a$$ chairs they the same chairs you see right here, he grabbed one these chairs and he broke it right over the man face. Oh man, I aint never seen nothin like that from two old white men,(chuckles), that dude was out. Man i didnt even want to get between them two. Frank stood up, be PUT HIS FOOT on the man chest, he say, i dont know if you can put this in the paper hear? but he say " Get the F*#$ out my state you cornholin' b@*#&". That man...s#!t he just wouldn't let flow...he could barely walk hear me? He stumbled up, looked Frank square in the windows of his soul, and he say "this aint over yet Frankie". Man...i will never ever ever ever EVER forget that s#!t man" I would link it but it was on a paid recruiting site that no longer exists. You just cant get away with that kinda stuff these days. I miss the old days....
  22. I truly wish this story were true. But i just can't believe that if it were, it wouldn't have made actual news. This would be a front page story, especially for as much as many of our media members hated Bo. It made me laugh so kudos for that. But come on...Bo is emotional but he isn't stupid. If he truly did this, he knows it would be the end of him as a football coach of any kind. He did possibly want to be fired , so i will leave you with that out lol. If he did it , it would have had to be a stunt to hope he got fired from it. But in all seriousness he couldn't have done this. It reminds me of that time Osborne got pissed off at Bowden, and went to his house in Tallahassee at the time, with a megaphone and started yelling "this is the police , put your hands on your head and walk out slowly". Bobby Bowden walked out , hands on his head. And then Osborne preceeded to throw eggs on at his face. He then reportedly (according to Bowden) drove off chugging a bottle of Skol Vodka, and the driver (not confirmed, but had the appearance of Solich) was puffing on a blunt and ran over the Bowden mailbox on the way out. I read it on "sparks" recruiting at the time it was only for paid members.
  23. I think it is more of a case of Adrian being off. Maybe Verduzco confused him, but the rest of V's QB's have done well.
  24. My hope is that once the next assistant leaves, Snyder could take his spot. Not hoping another assistant leaves in the next year or two, but usually at least 1 will every couple years. I would love to have Snyder on our staff full time.
