  1. I think the right solution here is to just add our own lake....
  2. I'm really looking forward to seeing a full year of Lubick with more say in the offense. I remember calling it out in a game thread where I saw when the playcalling changed mid-game and my recollection was that immediately you could see "his" called plays were more in the players comfort zone. My sincere hope being more of the offensive book next year is built as a result of assessing what our kids are naturally good at, as opposed to forcing "favourite plays" which require physical traits and skills that they struggle with. Example: If your offensive guards are strong but with slow feet, asking them to reach block while moving laterally is not setting your players up for the highest likelihood of success. Fingers crossed.
  3. Sorry for re-hash.... Can anyone clarify number of transfers staff are hoping to add and what positions to be targeted? Thanks in advance, M.
  4. Okay, so throwing a counter question out from the "stupid" demographic portion of the board: Are you making the argument that Matt Farniok's performance potential was maximized by pushing his body weight up above 320 lbs?
  5. Call me a koolaid drinker if you like, but if we can get "snaps", red zone offensive playcalling and kickoffs figured out, I think on their own that will yield a better than .500 result.
  6. I agree....I'm just fearful that our S&C program did no favours to Matt Farniok by adding too much weight at the expense of nimbleness. With Benhart already challenged to move laterally very quickly due to his huge frame, S&C better not encumber him with any more weight that would further slow his already heavy feet.
  7. The way Benhart got beat outside last year at times, he better work more on quickness and less on strength this offseason, or someone (Banks?) may step up and challenge for his spot.
  8. I think Frost has improved the 'potential', but has so far failed to improve 'execution'. Fingers crossed this is the year he puts it all together.....
  9. If Cam can solidify the snaps, that's probably worth two additional wins all on its own as some of those bad snaps were absolute drive killers and from a momentum standpoint, totally killed the team's energy (and gave the other teams huge boosts).
  10. Any rumours on current OL who are working at that position? I was curious if they’d try out Nouili as if he can snap, he’s certainly got a nice frame to deal with B1G DT’s and NT’s.
  11. What was wrong with Tate? Or was it not disclosed?
  12. I’d also be looking at an experienced Center in case Jurgens continues to struggle with snaps or gets injured.... The impact of his unreliability on our offence is hard to understate.
  13. I like the sounds of that! At end of season there was a distinct change in the play calling mid game which got called out in the game thread and it just felt so much more comfortable for everyone to execute. I really hope Frost can take a step back and let him do his job.
  14. New structure? Frost: HC & QB Coach New Guy: New QB Analyst New Guy: OC & WR Coach New Guy: Dedicated ST Coach So you switch some things around but biggest change is you move from a full-time QB coach to a full-time ST coach.
  15. The clarity of the communication in that tweet lives a lot to be desired.....
  16. Seems like he has been actively looking for a school “anywhere but Lincoln”. And honestly, that’s okay. If he feels he needs to go somewhere else to spread his wings I get that and wouldn’t hold it against him. You only live once. He needs to follow his heart.
  17. I guess it all comes down to how it’s done. If it’s 4th and 1 and Frost wants a specific play, as HC that’s his prerogative. As long as he’s only stepping in for three or key plays per game and otherwise letting the OC do his job. The rest of the time he needs to stay focused on the overall game management. If it’s the middle of the second quarter and Frost just decides he’s taking the keys to the car and sidelines Lubick, I think that’s inevitably going to cause some long term chemistry and communication problems. It would be more consistent if Frost had a direct channel to Lubick and when Frost called him, the play call was relayed through Lubick. And if Frost has ideas about changing some things he can always talk to Lubick between offensive series.
  18. I have never seen Frost’s description of how he plans on working with Lubick work well, in any circumstance, ever. “You’re in charge until I think you’re doing something stupid, then I’ll publicly pull the rug out from under you and take over. Cool?” If Frost doesn’t see the fundamental problem with that, he’s in serious need of some leadership training as that’s how you destroy a team.
  19. Count me in as a "Yes".... Speculation is so much more fun with friends, then by yourself.
  20. Reading between the lines, if Frost did have that conversation with LM, you would have to think that he must want Smother's to be his #2 next season.
  21. Is Frank Beamer doing any consulting in his retirement?
  22. If you don't mind me asking, what makes you say that? In look at roster, I was thinking Corcoran (very impressive in first start), Bernhart, Banks and Bando would be a decent 2-deep with Conn and Teddy P in reserve in case of injury. Thanks in advance....
  23. Nelson needs to add some yoga to his S&C. Last offseason appears to have gotten stronger but at the cost of agility and flexibility (like Farniok). Then have him spend a couple hundred practice reps trying to play nickel against a big WR or TE and he'll get better. But right now he doesn't have a clue what to do and is physically incapable of doing it, which is a bad combo. The good news is there are steps over a long offseason that can be taken to mitigate the issues and it certainly appears he has the work ethic to do whatever is asked of him.
