  1. it's his decision. he just appears juvenile in how he handled it, not uncommon, always a disappointment no matter who it is.

hope he has no regrets, pretty young to throw that talent away, kids. probably see him in the portal.

Guess Sean Callahan is saying Betts didn't even show up for the meeting and just told the coaches he's done...

    hard to find good help.

Yet the coaches were stupid for not playing him more the last couple years...

maybe he didn't learn the playbook?  who knows.?

Word is Frost and Austin butted heads quite a bit about the style of blocking employed.  Raiola teaches more the style Frost wants.

No idea why that (apparently) went on for so long but we'll see if it helps.

Also, Raiola much more open to moving guys from the one side of the line to the other than Austin was.  Not sure if that will be a big deal but it could help with injuries.

having a good two deep will allow for more consistency playing next to the same guy game after game.

And this really makes me question Frost’s judgment. I suspect Held would still be here if not for TA

i lost faith when Frost insisted on bringing his whole staff to Lincoln.

that rarely works for any new HC.

Didn’t say it was.  I was just trying to add to the conversation that it’s difficult to put OL schemes into nice little boxes where it’s an either/or between pass and run.

darn, Wisconsin sure seems good at doing this? always a great OL.  recruiting i guess?

I agree.  Perhaps it is too early to appoint Allen as heir to the throne - he and E Johnson may need some time to get use to P5 football, but I can see Grant competing for the starting spot wt R Johnson or Gabe being # 2.    I'm not sold on Yanz and Stepp.  It will be interesting to see how it shakes out in spring ball.

Stepp was a portal medical hand me down from USC, guys like that rarely excel, but not impossible, he didn't make much noise least season on limited carries.

No way you slice it somebody has to get the first 1st team snaps.  Whipple said he looked the best from the stuff he saw before spring.  it's not surprising.  If you didn't expect the the oldest guy in the room with the most starts to get the very first snaps with the 1's you are delusional.  But like he said it could change orrrr  they could just let someone else get 1st team reps to see how they look with the 1's.  doesn't mean that person is going to be the starter either.

maybe having a real QB coach will help.

No need to manufacture a QB battle in the free agency era.  He was brought in to start, barring injury he'll start.

And you know which one I'm talking about.

so Casey walks in the door and is given the keys to the car?

surprised  we haven't lost a couple QB's already, like smothers  and others?

another know it all coach who didn't even look at his whole room.

    kinda like Frost. disappointed.

I think the deer in the headlights comes from not having good fundamentals and technique. If you are confident and good in those aspects, the rest of the game is a lot easier. And, if you’re bad in these areas, you’re going to look weaker.

Im so happy we have a line coach that is known for teaching this.

Benhart was brought in for his size, he has a ton to learn and a rookie coach to help?

Nice.  They're good.  It's depth.  High motor.  Love to play.  And we need to add some older experienced big guys to the DLine room.  Not sure if we get them (who's our Dline coach?).  I am just glad the Huskers know we need to get help on the line.

oh yeah, they know they need help, warm bodies would be good.
