Unrealistic fans are to blame now for the current mess?   LMAO.   Geesh!  What are you drinking?

I will give you credit for creativity on that one as I think you’re the first one to say the real problem is those darn loyal fans for suggesting the team could do better!

Be serious now - do you honestly believe it’s the fans’ fault the team is not winning even half their games?  Frost bears little or no responsibility?  DONU is losing consistently to teams with exactly the same scholarship limits with fewer players, similar or lesser facilities, less expensive coaches, and fewer of those darn loyal to the max fans?

Do you also believe Devaney, Osborne, Solich, Callahan, Pelini, and even Riley would agree?  Or any of another 50 HCs you care to name?  Do you believe Trev should retain Frost if he continues to find ways to lose ‘close’ to a majority of opponents the next two years?

Historically speaking, next year’s schedule would be a ten win schedule, even for Solich or Pelini.  Riley and Callahan would reasonably find 7-8. Yet,   all four were fired for doing significantly better than Frost.

Frost has over 150 on the roster with roughly 40 coming and going annually. Even Frost fired his “dear friends who he just called good coaches and great people” to include former Husker players who he hired and rehired and paid exceedingly well above the norms!

HIS program enters season 5 with more questions than it began with arguably.  Five recruiting classes in and questions abound.  That’s NOT my fault nor the fault of hundreds of thousands of fans, boosters, administrative staff, broadcasters, analysts, or even players as a group. There is and has been enough talent to win more than half the games played.  These are the facts, cold and simple, hard as that may be for some to accept.

I have supported Frost all along as he is the coach of my one and only team!  Admittedly, it’s not easy as I vehemently hate his offense and likely always will.  Frost would not have been my hire but he was chosen by popular demand - so be it!  I could live with the offenses of all the previous coaches in my lifetime but the Osborne option laden was the most exciting, diverse, most fun.  The Callahan west coach had its moments.  But, any offense requires an offensive line, experienced maturing players, and stability and consistency.  As we enter year 5, do you see that anywhere?   Is it getting better or potentially worse?

worse, we continue to hire really inexperienced coaches and recruit big bodies, not skilled players, for the OL.

we recruit too damn many "project" kids and waste a couple years just trying to teach them football!

    waste of time.

I don't get the concern for Thompson's hand being an issue into next season or even Spring practice.  It was basically a severely sprained thumb that needed rest to heal.  Thompson probably shouldn't have been playing the last half of the season for Texas, but he did what he could to help out the team.  It was also an injury that didn't need surgery or rehab.  It's just something that needs to rest, heal, and have the swelling come down.

    ok, doc.

Personally, I think we need to stop chasing how we can get into the Samoan recruiting.  Sure, keep offering and if one acts interested, go after him.  But, we have had so few Samoan players come here and contribute, that I think it's a waste of time to make major decisions based on trying to recruit them.

    agree

  4. the Alberts/Frost love fest still bothers me. appears there may be a chance for a winning record this next season.

just enough for us to watch this bunch tread water for a couple years, ugh.

if Wipple is that good we don't need Frost.  Still short the jimmy's and jo's.

  5. we have recruited a guy who may not even be healed enough to play this spring., just like Stepp, we are rolling the dice with a questionable player, (Thompson)

that's probably why Purdy signed on and Smothers has not gone to the portal yet.

anyway, the QB room is going to be too damn full, expect 2-3 guys will transfer this spring or fall.

funny how the press wants to give the job to Thompson so soon.

I suspect that Smoothers would be the odd man out as Haarberg fits the mold better of our new OC/QB coach.

i think Smothers has been riding the pine here long enough. he should have gotten more time, especially with the way TM was struggling.

unless he wins the job this spring, i expect him to transfer.

I have no idea what Smothers' is thinking, but from an outsider's perspective, I think a lot of these players understand their role and situation better than we might think. Division one CFB has been a big boy business for decades and very few positions are ever safe... particularly the QB position. So, if you're in Smothers' shoes and you're upset or disappointed that your coaches may be bringing in a transfer QB this season... I'm not sure what to tell you. That's the business side of CFB and you're an adult now.

But that's why it may not be fair to speculate how he's feeling. Dude might understand the situation 100% and be ready to compete. Maybe not. Either way, I will almost always support a coach's decision to look at the transfer portal to get better unless there's a really good argument not to.

the jump from high school to college is much bigger now, than it ever was before. asking a lot from these young kids. coaches need to be upfront with their kids.

i can see one of the 3 QB's moving on next fall.

I'm beginning to think Nebraska would have been flung off this coaching carousel if Alberts had fired Frost this season.

We also know the price of coaching NCAA football these days. Ouch.

the top name coaches moving around will still have all the best talent.

better coaching with less talented kids will be the leftovers of CF.

hence we continue to recruit 3 star kids, the best we can hope for.

Frost/Alberts are just prolonging the inevitable.

an easier schedule may get us into a bowl game next year, maybe.

may even see a few punts returned, instead of fair catch.

  9. we are not going to be able to fill this OC job with a top notch guy, we should have dumped Frost. A real talented guy is not going to work as OC here.

more likely we will get a young guy from a non Power 5 group or maybe a unproven developing assistant.

i think Trev made a compromised choice and it won't likely turn out well. the longer we wait, the less we have to expect.

just getting a dedicated ST coach and a real kicker would help.

another season of Frost and Martinez, virtually the same play book?

if Frost keeps running AM he will get hurt again, next season. too many carries.

Trev made a mistake keeping Frost, replacing the O coaches makes little difference if Frost gets the final say in scheme.

i am not sure what we have gained here?

we could have at least gotten a ST coach, no?

Frost should be run off tomorrow if he does not commit to a dedicated ST coach.

this is plain bulls#!t and denial on his part. Thanks Trev! cut his salary another million dollars.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frost has jumped the shark on refusing to fully address special teams. We could have won that game on Saturday if:

-He finally decides to learn his damn lesson and kick the early game field goal instead of going for it on 4th & 2.

-We didn't give up the kickoff return.

Can Scott Frost become a good head football coach of this team? Probably he can. But currently his coaching is complete garbage. Aside from Greg Austin, It's really not as much about his assistants around him, it's much more about his own failure to address things that were issues in 2019.

the truth hurts, only if you know what is the truth.

My thought and issue is. HOW do you fix some thing if its no ones fault.  Frosty literally said its no ones fault.

same scheme, Frost will still be heavily involved in it, new OC will struggle, under Frost.

may bat .500 next season, maybe.

this has just become a bigger mess.
