  1. Onside kick sure helped us. So did the non-existent D. Oh well. We've got the Best volleyball team in the conference.
  2. LMAO. I mean… yeah LMAO at the coaching changes, the “Blackshirts,” the transfers, the hype. And it’s Northwestern. Bye Scott. Well we could still win this game. Jeesh let’s pull out a win!
  3. 3rd and 8 inside the 5.. great time for a call up the middle?
  4. Feeling pretty good now that Herbstriet claims we're going to the Big Ten championship this year. Don't know what to make of that. I wish he was right more often.
  5. Thank God. I thought it was a banana on a slug. *whew*
  6. I feel like a bizarre mirror image of what a Husker fan is supposed to feel: Losing culture wanting to see a good showing on the field, instead of winning culture knowing there'll be a good showing at the least, win or lose.
  7. I don't know (and I mean I don't know). Is it possible to know? What I do know (and like Sipple's what I think I know) is that Nebraska is probably one of the most if not THE most despised football programs in the Big Ten. What made that come about I'm not sure of but I get the suspicion that it had something to do with a perceived holier than thou persona in ages passed with some jealousy glued on for good measure.
  8. Huskers 17 Mildcats 10 Passing 223 Rushing 133 Northwestern D and the refs will prove troublesome, but we hold on for the win.
  9. Thanks! Same yardage/scores loss, though. Having said all that, I believe there's another factor that can influence the score for us: Our focus on ST. I have the feeling those guys are going to give us some points, and not just in PATs and field goals.
  10. I sometimes see penalties built into a lot of what Husker players and coaches have been saying about "going all out," etc. I don't like to see those remarks because it's a sport wherein it is assumed that each player is going to do that anyway as a baseline just to represent their school. Having to say something like that can be either a sign things are looking better, or a sign that we're once again wannabees. Key drives stopped by mistakes were all too common with us last playing season and prior. I kept hoping one of coaches would call a series of penalty avoidance clinics in practices. I'm worried about that factor.
  11. Many of us (tens of thousands) have been saying pretty much all of those things for quite some time now. Sadly we've watched it all get trashed as we went from coaching staff to coaching staff, and then once Scott the Savior arrived, from game to game for several seasons now. But, I love to be wrong when I think they're going to lose and they do not. The hope is that I am as wrong as can be about this season! And seasons to come. But sheesh, man. It occurs to me that losing is now built in. Deeply. So... We'll still honor our tickets and go to every home game and many road games and do the cheers as loud as all those around us as always, but we know what to expect now and it's the opposite of what we used to expect many years ago.
  12. Losing games that we are projected to win is hard to take, worse than losing as an underdog of course. If it were as simple as picking our wins based on our perceived strengths Vegas would be broke and I'd be driving a Bugatti instead of a Yugo. I see 5 wins max, mainly because we now have a history of knowing how to lose much more than how to win; it's marbled into Husker football culture now, and that is more powerful than any cadre of coaches can be.
  13. I doubt if being "famous" was on his mind as he penned his drivel. But I'm sure every p.o.ed reaction is precious to him.
  14. The author of the article got the attention and reactions he was looking for.
  15. We’ll win 4 or 5 games scattered through the season. Hopes will abound after the first few. I want at least 8 and thought I could see that. Honestly can’t though.
  16. I hear that.. I'm still there in that important way. I admit to feeling very negative about what's been going on for so long.. but yeah honestly the important part of what we are as Huskers can never get old.
  17. 15 - 29 at a school that wanted (needed was the word being thrown around) him so much that the word "hype" seemed like sacrilege. Well... I feel like I don't know whether Scott Frost broke the program or the program broke him. 5 years from now? Different crew, obviously. Relevant football program again? We've been in a place now of having the same hopes to reality ratio as just about any other lower tier school in the Big Ten.
  18. Well, I guess if I carried that thingy I'd be trolling with kool aid laced videos etc too. THIS IS THE YEAR. Stuff like that. Kidding aside, this is .. er, the year of .. er, more wins probably.
  19. But it's sreppey backwards. You're apparently not familiar with the Uranus Sideshow Museum. Gawd, do I have to explain everything?
