This is the first time I've actually seen the Best Picture before it was the Best Picture since I have no idea when.

And I could probably use to watch it again.  It was indeed really good.

I'm excited to rewatch with subtitles since Nolan insists on having the weirdest sound mixing in his theater experience and I don't have great hearing so I end up not being able to make out so much of the film.

I will say, as much as I still enjoyed it and am excited to rewatch and engage more fully, it felt like such a waste in the IMAX 70MM format. I get that Nolan *can* and thus he will, and I think it's great that Universal. (and before them Warner Bros) were smart enough to let him tell his own stories, but that format should really be reserved for high spectacle films, and Oppenheimer is just *not* that.

Either Pop is doing an awesome stealth tank job, or he’s mailing it in. We’ll find out I guess since he just got extended

I don't know if it's known to him or not, but I think he has simply lost the fire. Hard not to when you've achieved about all you can achieve and have done it for this long. Nothing new under the sun and all that, and he's always seemed like a pretty well adjusted guy as far as highly competitive coaches go.

So your natural instinct to get even with the evil leftist hypocrites is to rush to the defense of the fascist a$$h@!e. Got it.

So because Trump is a wannabe fascist piece of s#!t you rush to the defense of misinformation? Got it.

Anybody else care to explain to me how that a$$h@!e is the victim here? I'd really love it explained in greater detail.

I really didn't think the "Donald J. Trump, perpetual victim" movement needed more steam, but it chugs along.

Come on man. You're arguing against ghosts.

Trying to advance something means you are wanting/or choosing to advance that something in question.

You're the one that said trying to advance, not the original message you quoted.

It’s also a problem when one party actively is working for Russia so that they help them get elected. And, their actions go against our best interests.

You truly believe... the Republican Party is trying to advance Russian priorities at the expense of US priorities?  That they want more than anything here, for Russia to be a better country than the US?  That when choosing what’s better for the US or Russia, they would choose Russia?

You added a whole bunch of conjecture on top of the statement you quoted, primarily in regards to the wanting and the choosing.

  6. Archy so narrowly defined the question to be framed as Republicans actively and consciously supporting the success of Russia ahead of the success of the United States.

Shame on y'all for taking the bait on that, but I digress. It's not as if the GOP at large is pro Russian interests of their own volition. It's moreso that they're too stupid to realize the bedfellows they are happy to welcome in and the dangers and implications of the wolf at the door who looks like grandma who pinky promises she will keep lil Red from the gay trans athlete coastal elites.

Good god man. It's way easier to be upset about the complete weirdo spouting fascist incitement than the damn headlines.

It's remarkably easy to be upset about both.

Pointing out one thing that's wrong doesn't mean you're defending something else.

I know we have the "it is genocide" and the pro-pally crowd but they know, deep down, that they are wrong.

There's plenty of ways to be wrong about it.

At its base level, being opposed to the indiscriminate killing of massive numbers of civilians isn't one of 'em.

If this is true, a lot of what he said for a long time but a bunch of hooey.

He was probably conflicted and hopeful/optimistic for longer than he should have been that the temporary frustrations were only temporary.

The last actual job I had was working in full time ministry at a not-quite mega church. I was there during the rise of MAGA and also starting to witness business decisions be made in favor of spiritually healthy ones. Was trying to process it in real time, while also publicly/personally being very complimentary and offering praise for the church and the job because I did love it and I also loved the people despite the growing frustration and confusion and it took me way too long to realize it was heading in a direction I couldn't be a part of.

Caleb Williams will be the Ryan Leaf of this draft.  Bears should go for Jayden Daniels if they keep the 1. This is a deep QB draft, they can trade down, acquire a 2nd round pick and still get a stud QB. Penix will probably still be available at 9, and IMO, is the second or third best QB in this draft

It doesn't matter if the Bears draft a clone of prime Tom Brady. Institutionally, they will destroy and fail to utilize whichever quarterback it ever is.

Trev's not beholdened to anyone at the university anymore; if it's truly something that bothered him enough to leave, and if he cares as much for the university as people think he does, then maybe he needs to be the one up to the challenge.

Not saying it's right, but that obviously won't happen. To some extent, speaking bad about an employer in a certain category of life is perceived as speaking bad about all of them, and Trev won't nuke his future potential success in college athletics or academia by burning that bridge.

You now have to wonder how seriously bad it is behind the scenes here that Ted Carter, Trev Alberts and Ron Green have all left.

We've got a lot of soul-searching to do.

Trev has never shown even an ounce of anything other than passionately wanting to be here and lead the AD into the future. Something must be absolutely unsalvageable to the core for him to actually leave considering how well he had it for himself and how well he had positioned all of our programs moving forward.

Might be premature but right now I'd be absolutely shocked to see Rhule still here in 2026.

They'll always need to be refined to improve the output, but it's not like somebody is pulling a lever to only give a certain result.

With some things it is absolutely exactly like that. Somebody is making choices downstream to stifle and censor the bots responses to all sorts of prompts (had a lot of fun at a party asking chatgpt to tell me a joke about men, which it would, and then asking it to tell me a joke about women, which it would refuse to do).

  15. Nobody's *actually* reporting it yet, but a handful of folks with ears in certain circles are starting to claim that he's staying put after the board made some of the 'right moves' to appease him.

  16. And there it all goes.

    Anyways...

If Trev orchestrated this whole thing as a necessary ultimatum after he's been quietly trying to press the issue for months only to find deaf ears and inaction, then that's all the more reason I think he's a great AD and want him here. Who knows, maybe this entire thing will have been revealed as an extremely coy and savvy whistleblowing move to get the regents to grow the hell up and figure it out.
