  1. Frost had four top 20 classes in a row. Look where we're at. Riley wasn't amazing but wasn't awful at recruiting. Look where he went. Pelini was a worse recruiter than either of them, but a better developer. Look how he did. Development, culture and identity come first, and when those lead to you maximizing your potential in the form of wins, then recruiting success with the brand name/money/history/fan support will follow. Getting a top 5 recruiting class and then being unranked with a losing season is easy (Callahan did it, Texas is great at doing it, USC has done it). It's much harder to take a #40 recruiting class and make it a top 25 team, and the foundational building blocks that allow that to happen are what our division opponents do great as they're currently kicking our a$$ every year while we beat ourselves with better recruiting.
  2. You're both right on the money here. There was nothing from him in Week 0 to help the "Adrian wasn't an accurate enough thrower" crowd's narrative. Honestly outside of not having any designed run calls he looked remarkably similar to what we've seen the last 4 years.
  3. I think he was being sarcastic, as both of those songs are very explicitly critical of America yet flag-boner patriots love to use them as anthems, oblivious to the irony
  4. The thing is, at least with credit cards, if you fall on hard times and can't afford to pay the credit card bill, here's what will happen: • They say "hey you owe us money!" and you say "i'm sorry i just literally can't afford it" • They sell the debt to a debt collection company • They say "hey you owe us money!" and you say "i'm sorry i just literally can't afford it" • They say "hey you owe us this much but we'll settle for this much" and you say "i'm sorry i just literally can't afford it" • They say "hey we offered you to settle for this much but actually we'll settle for this much" and you say "i'm sorry i just literally can't afford it" • They say "hey actually for the third time we'll actually settle for this much" and you say "hey I actually just got a decent check and saved some money so I can afford that sure that sounds good" And then you settle for 10-30% of what you actually owed.
  5. Storytelling is lies in service of the truth
  6. For the record, I am pro subsidizing farmers, pro child tax credits, pro student loan forgiveness, and pro lots of other 'unfair' tax expenditures that help primarily vulnerable, stuck, or important citizens. And let's not act like the argument that it's actually punishing people who made smarter choices is anything other than total horses#!t. The super-duper smartypants who avoided the pitfall of student loan debt are still paying their taxes no matter what - if it didn't go to loan forgiveness it would go to the military or farming or clean energy or roads or education or something else. The money is already there, it's not "ope now that we made this decision all you citizens need to give us more money to give to these other citizens". There's no punishment; there's only a smarter way of allocating already existing resources that ultimately helps all of us.
  7. Anyone know how I can protest the unfairness that some of my tax money goes to farmers? It's not my fault they chose a profession that can't make money and needs the government to bail them out constantly, don't punish. me for being smart enough to not be a farmer.
  8. Does anyone know who I can talk to about getting all my taxes refunded that went towards paying for the tens of millions of people who get child tax credits? Don't punish me because they chose to have kids.
  9. It's unfair to people who don't live in hurricane zones to punish them by making them bail out people living along the Gulf Coast. They chose to live there.
  10. Everything tax money is used for is unfairly penalizing somebody for something. That's what taxes are.
  11. He's also more behind them than the photo suggests. Funny photo though.
  12. Do you also watch for any time we get favorable officiating?
  13. I'm gonna wait to be glad until he uses that change of mind to actually try and do something about it.
  14. The "is social media bad for us?" conversation is a great and important one to have. I posted this thread months ago and nobody responded to it. Not claiming to know why, or really care, but at the very least I think the article is well worth a read if you have the time.
  15. If he's innocent, then prove it the same way. It's an even easier burden.
  16. Neither would I, and also...nobody did. Why are y'all bringing up Casey's game against Texas when the original comment that started this was Adrian vs Spencer Rattler? Agreed, but that won't stop a massive amount of our fanbase using it as unnecessary ammo to s#!t on Adrian in a direct comparison.
  17. Is this in Omaha? Curious about the logistics of traveling from Lincoln eventually overseas, because even Omaha can't really accommodate planes big enough generally speaking.
  18. I think you're confusing getting a blackshirt with being a captain.
  19. It's hard enough to successfully joke with the media when you're a good coach. If you're a coach who can only win 3 games a year at your alma mater with every resource you could possibly hope for, all you're doing is giving people more embarrassing ammo.
  20. The market for down the middle news is sadly not nearly as big as the market for outrage porn and confirmation bias Also, there are down the middle news orgs and that doesn't stop a sizable chunk of right-leaning people from being convinced they're liberal, but I digress.
  21. It's a beautiful looking stadium, I wonder how they're logistically providing locker rooms for full football rosters?
