  1. If you're asking if it would affect him here, not sure why it would. None of that was his responsibility. Art Briles and Ian McCaw are the only guys that deserve blame.
  2. @ColoradoHusk Yep, they might get inside info but their job isn't to break news. I don't see the news breaking on drive-time radio.
  3. The assistant coach bubble is blowing up pretty quickly and it would shock me if there wasn't a $2m+ assistant on this staff. My original number was aggressive but it's going to take more than 1.5/y to keep him. It wouldn't shock me if the financial projections staffs for big 10 athletic departments have been punch drunk since the media rights deal was announced. There's so much money out there and nobody's had a chance to reset the market yet. It's bound to be us or auburn.
  4. From what it sounds like, yes. I don't consider josh and john insiders but if they're on the record explicitly stating none of those guys are getting looks then I believe it.
  5. Joined late. They seemed confident that Kleiman, Campbell, and Leipold are all out of the running. Did I miss anything else before that?
  6. If it's going to happen I think today would be the last optimal day to announce it. Might be copying some takes I've seen here but it would be in Mickey's best interest as his stock will probably not be higher than it is today. Remaining schedule with some look-ahead lines that price in Casey's injury per NCAAgamesim.com : Minnesota (+15.5) @ Michigan (+27.5) Wisconsin (+13.5) @ Iowa (+7.5) If you're Mickey, do you really wanna sign a contract after a six game losing streak? Leverage is not on your side. It wouldn't shock me if they sat down to hash out a deal during the week. If you're Nebraska, do you really want to announce you're hiring a coach coming off a six game losing streak? Your pool of interested recruits and assistants is probably a little shallower if you go that route. Best move for both sides IMO is Mickey gets an WR/AHC/recruiting coordinator offer at 2.25-2.5mm by the next coach. He's considered one of the top assistants in the country in coaching circles and outside of Gundy-Kasey Dunn I don't see someone more qualified or talented coming on. Unless ASU offers I don't see him taking another job. Maybe Tulane if Fritz leaves?
  7. Steven Godfrey stated Colorado had interest in Mickey before moving on to a list that includes Bronco Mendenhall, Ryan Walters, Tom Herman, and Casey Dunn and that ASU has interest but are running a really slow search that hasn't involved any interviews yet, likely to due the hemming and hawing that they're doing about their AD. You're probably looking at a similar list for both openings, so there's probably a 15% chance Mickey takes a job. Guy is pretty credible and not known to carry water, so take it for what it's worth. My opinion on Mickey to ASU is that they're probably more likely to retain Aguano than hire Mickey due to some overlap in criterion and Aguano actually being in the building.
  8. I guess it's still true if Mickey's agent called the front desk at the search firm and sent a screenshot to Sean Callahan But yeah I tend to agree it's posturing and not legitimate, although he'd be a great fit there.
  9. Mickey's representation has been in contact with ASU's search firm, per HuskerOnline
  10. Two legacy AZ QBs in '26. Love to see it
  11. My money says 5-6th round. Will be interesting to see how he matches up against Michigan and Iowa's DBs. Haven't seen him generate separation out of the press all year, which is fine. Not everyone needs to.
  12. Those moves both made sense for at least half of the reasons I gave for Lane, but both also put those guys in better situations for recruiting. That's our biggest knock. If the resources, facilities, fans, and administration in Nebraska were south of the mason-dixon or in LA, we'd be a top 10 job. Think Florida or Auburn. Thankfully planes exist!
  13. Tend to agree qualitatively, but here are a few things we could offer Lane: - Stability (Lane can afford a 6-6 year here but it's hard to say he could afford it at UM) - Money ($9mm isn't outside the realm of possibility, and we can offer longer than the terms legally allowed by the state of Miss (4 year cap) - Assistant Pool (Our financial forecasting can be far more aggressive with B10 money projected) - NIL Base - Fan Support/Fundraising (coaches hate getting involved in this stuff, less pressure to do so at NU) - Easier schedule (you'll never get an easier conference stretch in the SEC than Indiana/@Illinois/Northwestern/@Penn State/Minnesota/UCLA/Iowa) His path to the 12 team playoff at Ole Miss means getting through 5 of Arkansas/LSU/A&M/Alabama/Auburn/Oklahoma/Texas/Mississippi State in an average year, for less money. It makes more sense than people give it credit.
  14. Correct, Gus was the OC for the Cam team and Cam was probably the greatest dual-threat QB in CFB history. His scheme maximized his strengths (good) but there are some guys you can plug and play at an elite level in college. Derrick Henry, Ndamukong Suh, Cam, Tommie Frazier, Leonard Fournette, and Bryce Young come to mind at the college level. Also, it's not arguable that Saban is the goat. Anyone who can overcome having to recruit and play against that (no less the last and most impactful week of the season polls-wise) has elite coaching traits.
  15. Kleiman would be a Tier II hire but the only job I see him leaving for is Iowa (childhood fan, Cedar Falls guy) Inside baseball moment: Coaches dream of the organizational alignment he's got. His AD and he have been together for years and have a fantastic relationship. Iowa's situation is really fragile. Kirk is a few more losses than expected from losing an important eligibility requirement for the HOF (.600 record) and there's probably +300 or better odds he retires this offseason. It's a perfect storm of pretty significant on and off the field stuff (lawsuits, buyout, failson, etc.). The AD is probably more likely to die on that hill than Kirk and if he goes, the new deputy AD would be a good hire, but if not, they'll probably need someone with alignment with the new coach OR a guy with some cachet. Kirk's been pretty resistant to NIL and portal stuff, so they'll need new staffers and other resources to modernize. Stoops is on the record about it being his dream job and Kleiman isn't but it's pretty obvious. Would probably be an easy hire for them if they didn't promote Woods and retain Barta, but Kleiman is probably the most likely hire there. Unrelated, but still interesting.
  16. They got a lot of breaks along the way to that game but getting Nick Marshall anywhere close to that game requires elite coaching.
  17. Early on? Yes. After every loss became a blowout? Absolutely not. Malzahn's Auburn team consistently tripped over its own feet a la Pelini. Is that the result of gameday coaching? Is it the result of the fishbowl at Auburn? Both? Idk. FWIW I think Pelini's were far, far worse.
  18. Thoughts on Malzahn? Not the best candidate but he's definitely a guy that can have the program in a NY6 bowl. Hard to find that kind of thing. He's a guy I'd rather have over most of the names out there. - Extremely creative offensively. - High-Level Recruiter - History of success in big games - Grinder, not a guy you'd find playing slots (figuratively and literally) Cons: - Pelini-esque record outside of his BCS runner-up year - Bowl game losses, although in the SEC making a bowl game means half your team sits. - Goofy, not the most personable guy in the world.
  19. One more win means the team upsets someone (yes, even Iowa). I'd be happy with that. OL Coaching and Overall Depth aren't going to get fixed this year. Every team we play from here on out is going to be favored on a neutral site. Maybe we catch a team at a good time situationally, but I don't see it. We've got a WR Coach coaching the team, a ST Coach calling the defense, and we'll probably have an analyst calling the offense as soon as this week. I'm grading on a curve this year.
  20. That account is a running joke. He's done that with every opening for years. Funny bit imo
  21. Matt Rhule hired Joey out of a high school, and Joey's now the head coach of a P5 football program. It's probably too soon to tell how he is as a coach, but he's a hell of a recruiter. Is it a bad thing that Rhule (from NYC/PA) found success recruiting in texas because he hired the right guys? That's a huge pro in my opinion.
  22. Rhule is a great option I'd be more than happy with. Guy is hyper-organized and the definition of a grinder. If he'd had a QB in the NFL it probably would have worked out for him. I see Auburn making a push for him as well. A lot of parallels operationally and personality-wise to Bruce Pearl.
  23. Louisville is going to make him a lot of money when they fire Satt via extension or salary. I could see Charles Huff in that role. Brohm is probably the least likely on the list but it's possible.
