Horrible hire. He will be fired before Year 4 ends. I will not post here again until Rhule is fired (probably within 36 months).

Even if the AD so called knew who he wanted to hire or not MJ earned that right to be interviewed and you wonder why there is a Rooney Rule in the NFL and that still hasn't helped the problem.
The last several games were MJ’s interview. Had he won a few more, I imagine he would have been given strong consideration. Reality is, he’s clearly not a fit for a B1G HC spot.Regarding your Rooney Rule reference, I don’t see what race has to do with any of this. Nebraska would absolutely hire a non-caucasian HC if that person was the RIGHT person for the job.

To me reading this it sounds like there is some animosity there. Can be looking to deep into it but I say that if he feels he got so called "hosed" from the whole ordeal of not being fairly treated in the coaching search. If he wasn't giving the opportunity to interview for the head coach job with what he had to endure this season shame on Nebraska for that. Don't know if he ever did or not but last time I heard he hadn't interview for it smh. I can understand why bc TA might have already had his guy or was basing it off if MJ could turn the ship around but he should still be interviewed give him that right.
If the AD KNOWS he’s not going to hire MJ, an interview would be a waste of everyone’s time.- 1

You don't like Rhule. He's even worse than Campbell in your opinion. Rhule is going to fail?
If he gets hired here, yes, I believe Rhule will end up somewhere between Frost and Riley record-wise.

Talking about Rhule being the next coming of Riley while also talking up Campbell. Campbell is more similar to Riley than Rhule at the college level.
I'm definitely NOT "talking up" Campbell - simply saying he's a stronger college HC than Rhule.
And to all you Rhule-lovers out there; if the announcement doesn't come tomorrow, then Rhule did NOT get the job.

One of these is too weak:
Matt Campbell's best record in the Big XII*: 8-5
Matt Rhule's best record in the Big XII: 11-3
*non-COVID year
Iowa State has never, and will never, attract talent - doesn't matter who the coach is.
Baylor has ballers every year by virtue of being in Texas. It's still a crap job which is absolutely not comparable to the B1G meat grinder.
Campbell will end up somewhere great eventually, while Rhule's best days professionally speaking, are most likely behind him.

Wow I can understand why you feel that way but apparently your not paying attention to facts or you are simple ignoring them. Just bc he is 47-43 as a coach it may not seem impressive but what he did at those programs speaks volumes. Nebraska would pay to play in the Sugar Bowl shoot let alone play in a bowl game. But I would say his name is more recognizable then Riley or Callahan. You do whats best for you as long as we dont hire a Matt Campbell I'm good.
I don't want Campbell here, but he'd be a better hire than Rhule.

The draft - zero doubt.

I imagine USC, LSU/Bama, South Carolina, Arkansas all said the same. That said, all those coaches went on to have a lot of success after failing in the NFL.
Bringing the focus back to Rhule - his resume is too WEAK for B1G football, full stop.

I think Casey deciding to give the NFL a shot, come back to NU, or try another college depends on who the next head coach is, the type of offense which will be ran, and if Casey wants to still be playing college football at 25. He already has a Bachelor’s degree, and may be getting this Masters this December. A lot may depend on what type of NIL $ he can get from a school. I don’t think he has much of a shot in the NFL. He is on the shorter side of QBs and has been injury prone.
Casey should definitely stay and play one more season, as he would not be drafted at this point in his collegiate career.

For those comparing Rhule to Riley (which is just laughable) consider this: In 17 years of being a college football head coach, Riley had ONE 10 win season. Rhule on the other hand had three 10+ wins seasons in just 7 years. Rhule has a lot of college losses because both programs that he took over were complete dumpster fires when he arrived (sound familiar??). The first year he was at Temple he was 2-10 and the first year he was at Baylor he was 1-11. Two seasons later both teams were 10+ win juggernauts. For anyone to do this once is hard enough, but twice landed him a gig in the NFL. If you think hiring an NFL reject is a problem, then Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh and many others would like to have a word or two with you!
There is nobody on this earth who is currently looking for work as a football head coach more qualified to turn this turdsicle of a Nebraska football program around than Matt Rhule. If he leaves after making us a 10+ win team again in a few years, then fine. We will pay well for another big name who will not have to build from the ground up.
So you're saying our program sucks so bad that we now want an NFL reject who happened to have moderate success at Temple and Baylor? Have some pride, man. We have not fallen so far as to settle for a coach like Rhule.

You really should have gone.
Assuming you're actually a Nebraska fan. Which I doubt.
Sure we do.
Whoops
I deeply regret not being there. Pissed at myself TBH. And I am a fan - just not a typical sheep that reflexively laps up what those who run the Program toss our way when things invariably fall apart year after year. I'm tired of a cruddy record, year after year after year.

Holy hell, all the piss and vinegar on this thread is ridiculous. I come to this forum to read what a lot of you have to say, and to get your honest thoughts. But all of the trolls and a$$ hats on here are becoming ridiculous. Either support the team and trust that people a lot more knowledgeable than you know what they're doing, or just leave. Enough already.
Full disclosure: I've had quite a few adult beverages tonight, enjoying a Husker win over Iowa. But my thoughts are solid.
Trust the same process that gave us Callahan, fired Pelini, hired Riley, and then kept Frost for one year too long? Nope, done trusting...pay TOP DOLLAR and give us a home run hire.

If anyone wants to gimme ammo, post it here. It’s some dirty work but this guy right here is f’n hammered and up for the cause.

I didn't know much about Rhule before this past weekend. Did loads of research. I had opined that Rhule would get fired within 3-4 years, and frankly, I was wrong.
Rhule is a great coach, but an even better man. Matt Rhule was the right choice and I believe he will someday be mentioned alongside the names of Devaney and Osborne.
Peace.
