  1. Well, I guess you want Mickey then because every realistic candidate has a questionable resume. Simple common sense would say otherwise. Hypothetically, you're a big time recruit and you have time for one meeting...Deion Sanders or Mickey Joseph. 99% of kids are taking Deion's meeting. Sorry, but to think otherwise is just reaching.
  2. Yes, talking about lists and speculation from fans, which is what this entire thread is. No question Urban and Deion have as good (or better) resumes as other names being discussed, and both seem as available (or more) as other names being discussed. So, they are undoubtedly two of the top candidates which will be discussed by fans on message boards. As far as being two of Trev's top choices, I have no idea who those are. Apparently nobody does. It's as likely to include Meyer and Sanders as it is to include Campbell and Joseph.
  3. Yeah, I haven't denied both Urban's and Deion's question marks. They each have them just like every other choice. I'm simply pointing out that they are two of the top candidates (among several others), so they are going to be discussed, both here and outside of here.
  4. A couple guys are keeping a 311 page thread going? And yes, two of the top candidates are going to get talked about in the new coach thread. Deal with it. For someone with over 5K posts, you sure don't have a very good understanding of how things work.
  5. Sorry, but I just don't see it that way. I do think one question mark to Deion coming is the whole getting him out of the South thing. I think Deion thinks he's ready to make the jump to the next level and that's definitely what he wants to do. If we're the best P5 offering, a blue blood with top resources, I don't see him turning it down. He's spent plenty of time in the North throughout his career. And he's handled plenty of "buttoned up atmospheres" throughout his career. On Urban, yes the one question mark to him coming is whether he wants to coach again which I don't think anyone really knows. But again, I think NU will be the best team offering if he does want to. ND isn't firing Freeman yet. The way Urban was pandering to us when OU was in town, it almost sounded like he was interviewing for the job. Hell, he was selling the program better than we have.
  6. Based on what? Just curious. Or is this just a creative way of saying "I don't want either of those guys"
  7. Serious answer...ABSOLUTELY! What would make anyone think otherwise? He's doing it at Jackson State, a crappy FCS school that hadn't had a winning record in a decade located in a 3rd world s#!thole of a city. Why wouldn't he be able to do it at a blue blood with our resources?
  8. Wow, you were being serious. That "concept" existed before and outside of Deion. Yet, Deion has been the first and only one who has been able to capitalize on it. Why? Because he's Deion f#&%ing Sanders. If you don't know that Deion would be an instant improvement to recruiting and that he's got a much better resume than Mickey, then you're probably not even worth arguing with. Do you live under a rock or something?
  9. Can't tell if this is sarcasm, trolling, or just one of the worst takes on this whole thread (which is saying a lot). Holy crap.
  10. Plus 10+ years working for the NFL network. Dude has probably forgotten more about football than a lot of guys have ever known.
  11. Well, aside from Urban (who has his own set of weaknesses), name a coach who’s any more guaranteed to be at that level than Deion is. You can certainly point to his lack of P5 experience as his weakness, I’m not arguing he doesn’t have that. But, you have to also look at the other things he brings to the table as strengths that can offset that. I mean, let’s just take Leipold as an example. Deion’s a better recruiter by a landslide. So, you’re willing to say that a guy like Leipold and his 1.5 years experience at a P5 with pretty bad recruiting results is better than Deion’s 2.5 years at a non P5 with phenomenal recruiting results? All the names have weaknesses.
  12. Great clip. Seems like he’d be a perfect fit to me.
  13. Oh, right...that's who I meant. Chizik. 8-5, 14-0, 8-5, 3-9 and the one 14-0 year was with transcendent quarterback $cam Newton. Good catch.
  14. Mack Brown won 2 conference titles in 16 years at UT. Gus won 1 in 8 years at Auburn.
  15. Yeah, I mean, I just kind of assume that the less a dude looks like me, the more likely he probably is to relate to kids through coaching and recruiting these days Mickey and Deion’s “looks” are positives, not negatives in my book.
  16. Given the fact that he currently has a black head coach, I'm guessing race won't be a factor.
  17. So true... Jimbo with Jameis Winston Malzahn with Cam Newton Charlie Strong with Teddy Bridgewater Mack Brown with Vince Young Just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more.
  18. Yeah, well, how's that been working out for us? Maybe it's time we change the culture.
  19. Yeah that's an extra "overtime" clip separate from the interview where he addresses "old school mentality"...dress code for players and why it's important, how he dresses and why, etc.
  20. Yeah, no I wasn't saying I don't like him for that reason, just speculating as to why he's not talked about more here. Honestly, it's probably just because he's not very close to Nebraska. Joe blow fans tend to focus on what is comfortable/known/nearby/familiar, hence all the talk about Campbell and Leipold.
  21. I don't know...guy who mows the grass at the school himself and has an old-school approach to coaching with an emphasis on hard work seems like a good cultural fit to me
