  1. Although I generally agree with your overall thoughts, not sure what makes you think Kiffen, Gundy, and Aranda can get it done nationally and make Nebraska a recruiting destination? All three are at better destinations than current Nebraska (OSU being the one possible exception). Sorry to have to make people admit that, but Ole Miss, OSU and Baylor have all been much more relevant than Nebraska as of late and all three are located in/near much better recruiting areas. Yes, we're still a blue blood (barely) and yes we have some history/resources/advantages these programs don't have, but most/all of that has been lost on recruiting aged kids today. It will take a while for us to build back up to those things actually being an advantage for us again. That said, here are Kiffen, Gundy, and Aranda's average recruiting rankings at their current, better destination schools. Kiffen and Aranda only have 2 full classes each (I did not include their first years as they were hired in the middle of recruiting so not really completely their classes, and including those numbers would have brought their averages down) and Gundy's been there forever so I'll just use the last 5 years for him (although a quick glance looks like it wouldn't matter much as he looks to pretty much be a perennial middling 30s raked recruiter)... Kiffen - 22 Gundy - 34 Aranda - 39 With Nebraska averaging a 24 ranking over the last five years, from purely a recruiting standpoint, I don't see how any of those three would be much of an improvement over what we've had if any, let alone make Nebraska a national destination. I don't want to speak for @The Scarlet Pimpernel, but I think he's talking about coaches who get us to elite top 10-15 recruiting destination status. And as has been pretty well shown, that list is very, very short. There are really only 2 realistic names on it.
  2. Guy sounded like Jimbo talking about Saban. Definitely don’t want a coach who other team’s coaches don’t like haha
  3. Rhule is probably my #3 choice, assuming he’s available before the end of the regular NFL season. I’m convinced that if he wants to coach again next year, it’ll be with us. I don’t know either, but I do know he’d check the “top 15 recruiting class every year” box, which is where this conversation started. Hell, probably top 5-10. Can’t say that about many others.
  4. Urban Deion That’s all I got. The rest of the names are huge long shots in that department. And it’s a department we need to be A+
  5. A handful of leftovers from Louisiana a full top 15 class does not make.
  6. There is no way Mickey Joseph is pulling top 15 classes as a first time head coach to a bottom dwelling program in the middle of Nebraska. I like him and he’s a good recruiter but that’s delusional.
  7. What does our NIL situation have to offer that other big time programs don’t? Serious question
  8. All depends who the new guy is. If it’s the home run most of us want, MJ may want to stay with him, learn, be part of building something great for your alma mater, etc. I mean, he’s already using quotes from Deion to help motivate the team.
  9. Agree 100% but the list of coaches that get us consistent top 15 recruiting classes is VERY short. As in, 2 people long short.
  10. Not sure I’m following you here. We’ve averaged 24th ranked recruiting class over the last 4 years, Rutgers averaged 49th. We should have the talent to not look like one of the two not good teams you saw. I think Mickey is doing the best he can as it’s not as simple as that, but I don’t think he’s the long term answer for a head coach at the level we want to be at. I like him and hope the next guy figures out a way to keep him. But I’m just not seeing it in his first 3 games so far.
  11. All joking aside…is this true? Are we able to name someone now if we have a guy in place who isn’t coaching elsewhere? Or how does that work? I know when Urban went to Ohio State, they waited until the end of the regular season to announce it.
  12. Pretty well documented how the whole thing went down. He was definitely involved, but wasn’t running things. And certainly wasn’t responsible for the mismanagement.
  13. He didn’t run anything. He put his name on it and others involved ran it. Bad investment or association? Maybe. Ran a fraudulent high school? Not even close. Y’all keep digging though. Surely you can find something on him worse than “I don’t like the way he dresses”
  14. What the hell are you talking about? Deion Sanders is a man of extremely strong faith and is all about molding young men's lives and buttoning down everything off the field first. Are you confusing him with Michael Irvin?
  15. We can’t hire Deion Sanders, he’s too flashy. Try to keep up would ya
  16. now that’s some glass half full fandom right there
  17. now that’s some glass half full fandom right there
  18. I'm sure I'm missing something here, because my brain apparently doesn't seem to be working. But can you, or anyone else point me to where retaining the interim coach has ever worked out? I just see Clay Helton at USC 2.0 here.
  19. Those search firms are more for the negotiating/contacting than the actual searching IMO.
