I've never considered CU one of our rivals, but maybe that's just me.

I didn't get that from the article at all. I saw a comparison of two ends of a spectrum.

The first player extended his arms (and the ball) to try to score. The second one extended his whole body while keeping the ball held close. That's the difference as I see it, your mileage may vary.

For clarity. The last player tried to extend the ball itself over the goal line and not just his body which is why I said... "It" being the ball. I should have been more specific.

Zay Flowers had the ball knocked out as he was being tackled, he didn't try to extend it over the goal line like the last player we talked about. This time it was just a good defensive play that caused the fumble.

During the regular season Lamar Jackson threw 457 times this season for 3678 yards. Tyler Huntley threw another 37 times for 203 yards. Jackson and Huntley collectively threw 27 TD passes. The Ravens ran the ball 541 times for 2661 yards and 26 TDs. 494 pass attempts and 541 run plays, that's a pretty balanced offense and to say that the run is what got them to the game today ignores their success in the passing game. The Ravens averaged 2.76 more pass plays than running plays per regular season game.

You had me until you mentioned guacamole. I used to work in packing houses cutting hams and guacamole has the same color and consistency as the stuff inside abcesses. One time at Farmland a guy laid open a ham along the femur and the entire inside of the ham was abcessed and it gushed up onto his face. He promptly puked all over the line. The foreman shut down the line so it could be hosed down with scalding hot water. The poor slob that puked was over at a sink dry heaving while trying to wash his face off while the foreman was yelling at him for puking on the line. Gnarly times.

He's saying you shouldn't do it. I'm saying sometimes you do even if it's a calculated risk.

What's to say that handing the ball off to the running back would have given different results? Nothing. Why should they have punted? They were trying to win and sometimes during that process you take calculated risks, sometimes those risks pan out and sometimes they don't. I'll never fault someone for the kind of effort Hardman put forth regardless of the outcome of said effort.

Every football team I've ever watched has at some point, thrown the ball on 3rd and short. Like it or not, throwing on 3rd down, even 3rd and short, is a thing. A team can screw up on 3rd and short when running or passing the ball. Crap happens sometimes.
